Well, this is the first DQ (and I hope the last one) in GT I've had for breaking the rules in many years, unintentionally of course, I respect that DQ from Jerry's falcon eye, the proof is crystal clear, a close view has been needed though.

I didn't notice something wrong in my best lap and I checked it out more than three times, I saw I was in the limits in that chicane but as GT5P doesn't bring the slow motion replay tool and the game itself didn't penalize me I gave my green tick to my lap.

I won't use a slow motion cam recorder for checking out my replays but for my balls the next one will be faster and absolutely clean. 👍

Lmao! ... that best of Terry Tate footage is hilarious  never seen or heard of him before now but I want to see some more haha :P Thanks for sharing

@everyone,
We only use slow motion if we detect a close call.

If we don't detect a close call, we will confirm the replay as clean and not go any further.

Notice that I wrote "confirm the replay as clean"? That's because when a driver submits his/her lap time and replay they are also declaring their run is clean and that it follows the rules of the race.

Being replay verifiers we confirm that the replay is indeed clean and according to the rules as already stated by the driver upon submission. We do not scrutinise a replay in order to prove that it is dirty, we scrutinise, if required, to confirm that the replay is clean as stated by the driver.

We are very aware of the difficulties in verifying replays in GT5P, but I'm afraid that we can't lower our verification standards that have taken us years to build and maintain, and nor should we.

The best advice we or anyone can give to a driver can be found in the Standard OLR Rules:

Standard Clean OLR Rules:
  • 2 wheels on (or vertically in line with (when airborne)) the track at all times
  • rumble/ripple strips are part of the track
  • run-off areas are not part of the track
  • no contact with walls or objects, visible or invisible
  • if you're not 100% sure that your lap is clean, then consider it dirty
  • no hybrids
  • no cheating of any kind
  • nothing that goes against the spirit of the rules
  • save your ghost replay

Standard Clean OLR Rules:
  • if you're not 100% sure that your lap is clean, then consider it dirty

👍👍

 I have to agree, never seen him either, very funny, also enjoyed watching the Mr Bean clip, Both made me smile, back on topic though, its a shame to see so many DQ's, but the rules are clear. Good job to everyone who ran a clean lap, and also to Sphinx for his constant time and effort here @ GTP. 👍

What a shame, i was completely oblivious to even checking my replay for the last chickane, i just assumed that if the game passed you, then you have kept 2 wheels on the track, didnt think about the white line there, i only made sure of the 2nd corner white line issue.

I am sorry for Rootbe really, as his time was spectacular (even though not within the rules ofcourse) and i felt that he deserved to be leading the championship after such a blistering lap, tough break mate;)

Great job sphinx for detecting the inaccuracies of all the laps, I just wish someone would have notified the DQ'd members before the deadline.

The thing is Dan, it's the driver's own responsibility to check their own laps are clean and ready for upload. Sphinx, Bax and co just verify. Also keep in mind that some people upload a new last minute replay to replace their banker replay in case they improve. There's no way the mods can review replays both after and during a particular race, the amount of work that would involve wouldn't leave them any time for their own participation.

The top laps were indeed quite superb and may well have won the race even without the transgressions. I have a feeling the same guys will be at the top next time around so hopefully it won't colour the final outcome and winner too much 👍

All the best
Maz

One reason for having the white line rule for this particular race was to guard against drivers going too far and wrongly assuming that "if the game passed you then you have kept 2 wheels on the track", and another reason was to make verification easier. You see, there is a method to our madness after all. We don't do these things to deliberately hinder drivers, we do it to aid them.

  • Where there are white and yellow lines placed along the edge of the track, this determines the boundary of the track.

3 wheels off track.

Exactly same as me mate

I will accept this - and I don´t want to start any discuss. :)

Surely my target was getting the chikane as fast as possible - taking a shortcut or braking any rule wasn´t my intention!
Getting no Points because of this will be an hard beat for me and all other drivers.
Such a case like this will never happen!

I have to say sorry to my Teammates for getting a dq in this race ! :banghead:

I've got something to say on judges deffense, now that i've seen Sutil_Xavi´s lap is clean, and helps me understand why i kept on telling him (we use Skype so often) while he was trying to improve his time: "i can't believe you are not capable of going faster"

The reason is obvious now, he was doing things on the right way.

Whats about Fadakt he has the same time and he posted it earlier

I've just been informed that they both have the same time. It'll have to be a tie/ joint win.

Congrats to fadakt84 & Gymnastico. 👍

In all the years of doing this I have never known any other event that has produced so many surprises.

May it not continue. ;)
