ilikewaffles11's Toyotas

It is, but it's a labor of love.

We curse like sailors but we don't mean half the stuff we say

At one point a friend came in and helped a little. But mostly I do it myself. If I need a hand with something or I'm stuck I'll ask the one other guy who's there working on his car.

Ah okay. My friends leave me hangin'

They come by see I'm under the hood and leave. They're afraid I might ask for a tool.

More progress on the 2 yesterday. I'll put it in spoilers again for page length reasons.

So I took apart the other wheel hub and started on the interior.

Taking the hub off, fun. Brake bolts
image.jpg

This time I didn't take it apart before knocking the axle out. :P It had tobe heated with a torch again though. It was a lot easier to get out than the other side even so.
image.jpg

So I let that cool down and started on the interior. Vacuumed the remaining glass and crap and it actually looks pretty good. I'll have to shampoo it once I get it out though.

Back to the hub. Had to get the backing plate off again. Oh and I acuddentally knocked a stud out with a hammer when I missed the axle. Woops

Backing plate. Yea, that's all that was left
image.jpg

But hub is disassembled woo
image.jpg

And then started on some more trim which I didn't get far because it was late at that point.
image.jpg

Might go in sunday and finish up getting the carpet out. Oh and I got to wash my Celica while at work as well. :D

Today was 'take apart interior because bored so why not' day. So as usual, plenty of photos, see spoiler tags.

So today was interior things. Wanted to get the carpets out and then clean out whatever lurked under it.

This handbrake is just awesome. I love how it goes back into the center console
image.jpg

So had to take apart some of the dash to get the carpet out. There's always that ONE bolt or screw you can't get. This was being a bitch, then I stripped it. Was not happy about that..
image.jpg

But managed to get it with a plyers :D

Ready to come out
image.jpg

image.jpg

Carpet wasn't hard to get out, just took a little convincing.

Then I realized the rust holes were much bigger than previously thought... This is the drivers side
image.jpg

Passenger side had many holes as well. This is towards the front
image.jpg

Another small one in the middle
image.jpg

Oh cool, a sock! This can only lead to something good!
image.jpg

Oh, nope. Just... Just more rust holes..
image.jpg

Also one on the back corner of each side
image.jpg

image.jpg

That's gonna be fun I patch. But here's the interior stripped out finally
image.jpg

image.jpg

image.jpg

This hole had some pretty gnarly spider nests in it
image.jpg

Went to grab some parts from the trunk and noticed there's holes in it as well
image.jpg

image.jpg

So then I felt as though I made enough progress for one day so went on to clean my Celica. Used some Simple Green spray cleaner on all of the jams, the doors and trunk. Are very clean and shiny and make the interior look so much cleaner. Also cleaned the gas filler area out since it was filthy and bugged me.

With my friends Roo

On Friday I cleaned my Celica a bit more. I finally got a chance to clean the dash and carpets so I went all out. Is very clean now and I love it. :D

Some random 2 shots from the other day when doing more interior things.

I love this dash to pieces
image.jpg

Oh, and the Supra is alright. She's hybernating for the winter with a trickle charger on in the new garage. :D
image.jpg

So I don't really know how to start this off as its just an update of random things I've been doing for the past few weeks. So uhm... yea. Cleaned my Celica up a bit more, got an exhaust video of Supra which kinda sucks but whatever, and uhm... Oh yea worked on the rusty racer but don't have any photos.

Went for a Sunday drive a little while ago in the Celica. Even if it's automatic it's still pretty fun to push on a windy road. Would be a million times better if it was stick but eh whatever.
image.jpg

image.jpg

I tried getting the sunset in but yea that worked real well
image.jpg

Dash... At night
image.jpg

Also, I maaaaaaaaay be getting my dad's '86 4Runner plow truck soon. Might. Hopefully. Basically if the guy who just rented out the rental building we own on the same lot as the garage is willing to plow the whole lot he won't need it anymore and said I could have it. :D Here's hoping.

And I went to play around in it on Christmas Eve because he closed early.

If I get it, my very first drive with the top off is gonna have this playing.
image.jpg

I love it so much. Has like 180K on it but interior is pretty nice. Dash is cracked and the whole thing needs to be cleaned up, but I'm more than happy having to clean it up.
image.jpg

Altimeter! :D

The coolest damn headrests to ever exist

Also cleaned up the engine bay of Celica with some spray cleaner. Looks much nicer.
image.jpg

Here she is
image.jpg

Ok and the long awaited exhaust video. Sorry for meh quality

So when I moved it over to my side, I opened the hood and was looking around and noticed there's a whole bunch of oil pooled up around the plug wires..
image.jpg

Luckily, this is a common problem and not a big deal. The cam boxes leak and honestly unless it fills back up again, I've been told it's not worth fixing.
image.jpg

Also gonna keep tab of my mileage traveled this year. :P Here they are as of Jan 1st
image.jpg

image.jpg

And today I cleaned the rest of that oil out of where it was pooled up. I got what I could with a rag the other day but figured may as well clean it up.

Before
image.jpg

The second spot that's dirty, out of three. One I have to removed he intake shroud so I'm not bothering at the moment
image.jpg

And after. Cleaned up pretty well.
image.jpg

Though my engine bay really needs a detailing... Or at least cleaning..
image.jpg

And after for the second spot
image.jpg

image.jpg

image.jpg

Pics suck but the third spot that's still all oily and dirty
image.jpg

image.jpg

Oh, I almost forgot! I got the re wheel bearings pressed into the hubs on the rusty racer. We also ordered new hubs and oil seals which are now done as well. So that's ready to go back together finally.

Wow, you own a Celica Supra, an AW11 MR2, and your dad owned a SW20 MR2 and owns a Celica Alltrac?!
You are sounding like a Toyota master! XD

Well I also have my '94 Celica.

My dad currently has the '92 Alltrac Turbo, the '91 MR2, an '87 Supra, a 3rd gen 4Runner my mom is now driving, and a Tundra. So yea I guess you could say that. :P

I wanna post here but if I make another post on this page with all the photos I don't want your internet to die. :P

But basically today I worked on the rusty racer a little bit again. Got the back end all done finally! Wheels are back on! Also did the spark plugs and cleaned it up a bit.

My Celica had the SRS Warning light on for a little bit now and I finally decided to pull the fuse because the light is annoying... She's so damn filthy right now I wish I could clean here but there's no point at the moment because of all the snow and salt. :(

Yeah, it's wrestling.

And oh yeah...

*Suddenly veers towards topic*

You know the MR2, you should...

Ah I don't watch it so couldn't tell ya. :P

Eh to be honest I don't really like black on the MR2s. Plus if I did repaint it a different color then I'd have to repaint the jams and under the hood and all that crap redone, which is a pain in the ass and costs a lot. So eh. And to be honest I like them in white for some reason, at least the '85s. All the '85s have black trim (none of the other years have it) and it contracts nicely with the black.

Though I like the red anyway, I might have a cheap respray done or something. Dunno.

Every MR2 I've ever seen has been a shade of red.

You should paint it something weird, like brown.

But... Red looks good! :P

There's this ones weird teal color that I think looks pretty cool on them. Would consider that. I think there's a few other weird colors they came in I like.

This here, looks pretty cool
image.jpg

That looks nice. Teal is a weird color, it really only suits cars from the 80's. :P

I know I always loved that color.

I just looked it up and there's not many color choices, I'd wanna keep it factory because I'm weird like that, and preferably only '85 colors because again I'm weird. There's red, white, silver, that real blue (light blue metallic), and beige. So I'd go blue probably, though silver, red, and white look good. If I wanted to go outside of '85 I'd go for the grey/silver two tone.

I do really like silver but dunno. I'd probably just go red because don't have to repaint everything else. That two tone silver/grey looks awesome. If you want check out Toyotareference.com and you should be able to find a photo of it there. Click on the color name on the color chart.

I usually don't like white either, but I like it on the '85s. The black trim offsets it nicely I think. Also my dads friend has a dark blue one, not my favorite color personally.

And I know right?

SVX
I find white a bit too boring on 90s and 80s cars.

Even gunmetal:

A dark blue though...

Red though, is easiest but it still looks good:

So hard to stall whilst still being on topic.
The dark blue looks really nice. I would paint it that, if it were mine. Blue is my favorite color anyway.

Ahem....

So...

*desperately tries to extend page*

How's the Celi?

Sitting nice and warm in the garage?

Unfortunately it doesn't work like that. :P

But indeed, no more cleaning her off in the mornings. :D Now I just gotta wait for the snow to melt and salt to go away so I can clean her since she's FILTHY, inside and out.
