I bought my PS3 two years ago now, believing that GT5 would be around the corner.

Well, at this point i'm bored of Prologue, well, became bored of it a long long time ago, and i'm not as inspired about GT5 as i used to be. I don't see a light at the end of the tunnel, and i don't feel like i'm being given enough info to want to wait for it. It makes me feel sad.

The problem is i dont want to trade in and then regret it when GT5 comes out and it has everything we expected and more, but i see all of these amazing pictures and videos of FORZA3 and it makes me feel like just going for it. I need a racing game for the long run NOW, not when PD feel like it!

Bloody hard choice, but now is the time :nervous: 💡

The livery editor/customisation in F3 looks amazing too. If those 2 things were 100% confirmed to be as in depth in GT i probably wouldn't be considering this.

Nah i have had alot of game since i bought my PS3 and play alot of different games. Why are you guys so sure?

BTW i got your message eric, thanks for the add!

I just doubt its worth it for you, especially if you like other PlayStation franchises too.
In the end you need to decide, but i, while starving for a game in the style of FM/GT, could never miss out on franchises like Uncharted, R&C, Killzone, MotorStorm and of course, Gran Turismo itself.

I would never trade in a console i bought for games i like, for another one where i dont even know how many games for it i would want to play.

Its not worth it unless you never entend on playing PS# again, it will be silly to trade in something later on to get a PS3. You should never trade a good system for another good system for one game. Then you'll have to buy a wheel and Xbox live if you want to race humans and get the full experience. If you have the cash get the Xbox to go withthe 360. But dont be too sold on a livery editor there's alot going with FM3.

You should at least wait until you see what GT5 has to offer. So far we know next to nothing about the game and everything about FM3. Wait then decide.

Stick with the PS3. if you like first person shooters get Modern Warfare 2, that should keep you occupied for a few months. and don't believe the xbox fanboys who say PSN is laggy. I'v had an Xbox gamer tell me that COD4 lags every time a car blows up in an online match. On my PS3 I could blow up all the cars simultaneously and it won't lag.

I never had trouble with cars blowing up in COD on 360. I'll still be buying my MW2 for PS3, since I like the controller better, though.

I have both consoles but my PS3 is also a great bluray player. If you have an HDTV then you need a bluray player. DVD just doesn't cut it.

Do you have a HDTV?

If you are buying the xbox just for Forza 3 then don't do it, the game is not as good as the hype machine lead us to believe, I have been playing forza for the past 2 weeks and it's not worth much it's a very rushed game just to beat GT5 to the market and it shows.

then maybe I'll see you online.

back to topic. keep the PS3, like Mowtin said, the PS3 is a great blu-ray player. since I got my PS3 I've bought all my movies on blu-ray, but I also have a 1080P TV. the livery editor and customization in Forza 3 may be tempting, but remember, small decals on some of the non drivable cars in the TGS demo do seem to hint at a livery editor. (I do doubt it will be as in depth as Forza's.) Plus Kaz did say he was proud of the customization in GT5. Please give it some time for more info on GT5, there are still many surprises yet to be seen.

That's on the X360 though, as well.

Wow... same here. I really can't find anything worthwhile in the 360 library other than Forza. I'm looking forward to squeezing in some time on these other games like MGS4, Uncharted 1 and 2, the Ratchet & Clank series... I can't stop buying Playstation games.

You can do what you want, of course, but you'd better think about this for a while. Like, save your pennies and get a 360 too.

Good points being made, there are alot of good games on the PS3 i havn't even played yet so they should tide me over until we finally get GT5, and then i can decide if it's for me or not. I'm bored of COD4, but i just remembered games like Heavy Rain and GOW3 are coming too. The future is bright for Playstation and i momentarily forgot that. I might re-buy Brothers In Arms, i really enjoyed it and feel like i traded it way too fast, or i might try OPF2. Besides that, i don't think i could forgive myself for the huge cash loss if i traded it in. I paid £350 for my 60GB PS3 new in 2007, and the trade in value is only £130. :/

As for the Blu Ray/HD issue, i do have a HDTV but strangely i've never bought or watched a Blu Ray movie :]

I've always been a PS owner BTW, since the first console, and i love the PS controller design.

I forgot that you probably had an original 60gig version. They'd have to pry mine from my cold dead fingers. ;)

Ive got both consoles and i never play the PS3 that much.

If i had to pick between the two it would be the 360 & Forza - but mainly because more of my friends have 360's + private & party chat features make the xbox a much better experience.

Only thing i'd miss is the Blu ray player and obv not getting GT5 would be a bummer but Forza 3 is awesome.

Oh and i much prefer the 360 controller

FM3 is great fun but I'm sure GT5 will be lightyears ahead in terms of polish and professionalism so you may find yourself regretting ditching the PS3 if that's the case. If tinkering with liveries etc. turns you on (and if GT5 doesn't have it) I would get the Xbox and FM3 for that alone, the boundries are limitless and the satisfaction of selling your creations online is way more fun than it should be. I was always a hardcore GT fan but after GT4 I switched to Xbox and Forza blew me away if not in polish (which it is distinctly lacking in) then in pure accessibility and fun.

In terms of gaming I think the 360 is fab, sure it's build quality and engineeing faults would make a 1980's Skoda proud but the games are great, basically the same as PS3 and more exclusive titles and if you don't mind paying for Gold, Xbox Live is fantastic. Sure, I hate M$ as much as the next man but I really do think the 360 is the best thing I've ever purchased. It's just so accessible and sooo much fun!

I think u would regret this if u make the "trade"
I mean.. GT5 is just around the corner and as other ppl said uncharted 2, heavy rain and a couple of more awesome ps3 games are on the way.
The winter '09 and spring and early summer '10 are going to be sony/playstations time to own the market.

Forza 3 is great fun, but personally if I had the choice of one or the other, then based on GT5:P I would keep the PS3 and wait for GT5. I can't speak for yourself or others but personally GT5:P feels better than Forza 3 to drive, Forza 3 is easier but still quite good. If you really enjoyed driving the cars in GT5:P then I'd wait, GT5 isn't that far off now anyway.

I won't go into what other games are available because both have some very good games on them, but I have little doubt that although Forza 3 is a very good game, GT5 will be a lot better. And that's based on my experince of GT5:P and Forza 3 which I both own.

Totally Agree, ive considered Seling My PS3 a while a go To get Forza 3, but its Kinda of a lame Desition, because GT5 has taken so many development time and Its coming with so great Features that when it comes out then i will be missing it and crying because i dont have a PS3.

So no, its not worth selling your PS3, but You might Consider getting a cheap X360 and so youll have both consoles:tup:, Im saving for an X360 so should you.

Unless you like the Xobx's offerings of games more... stick with the PS3. Trading it in just for FM3 is DEFINITELY not worth it. There are too many good games on the PS3 especially right now. Uncharted 2, inFamous, MAG (which is better than you think), Little Big Planet (want to suck up time, that game will do it in spades), KZ2, MGS4, and the list goes on and on. Also if you have not purchased a Blu-Ray movie yet I highly suggest getting the Planet Earth Collection on Blu-Ray. It is absolutely breathtaking and made the purchase of my PS3 and HDTV completely worth it.

Thanks everyone for bringing me to my senses....i may just pick up a cheap second hand 20gb xbox or something and play forza until GT5. It does make sense to have both, i'll just have to save for a while.

The planet earth show is pretty amazing in SD, i'll have to check out the HD version.

I too recommend having both. BUT, don't pick up any random Xbox 360. The old ones are all about RROD, and that is the LAST thing you want. I would go with the $199 arcade, and pick up a used HDD from ebay for change.

good idea the arcade consoles are very cheap! and i can get a discounted HD where i work.

Do the Arcades not get the RROD problem then?

Dude have you not seen the line up for PS3 line up exclusives? Heavy Rain, GOW 3, Uncharted 2, Demon Souls etc.. I haven't really been up to date with it all lately.. But those including GT 5 should get you to stay considering you enjoy other franchises. I Don't know if you're into RPG games but Demon Souls looks sweet. I would wait tbh.

Yes arcade 360's get RROD. Wouldn't you want one where you can install all of forza's disks? Instead of having to swap!!!

The NEW arcades (Jasper models) are MUCH improved. However, there is NEVER a guarantee that you will not get an RROD. But if you pick up a used Xbox, you will miss out on the full 3 year RROD warranty that MS is putting on them.

Apparently the Jasper RROD's are about as common as the YLOD on the PS3. Pretty rare. And if you read his ENTIRE post, he would pick up a discounted or used HDD for his Arcade.

Don't sell your PS3.

Bogie's suggestion sounds like the way to go. But FYI the 360 uses a proprietary hard drive, meaning you can't just use any hard drive.

i too, thought about getting an xbox but NEVER swapping.

a few reasons.......

1. The xbox will no doubt be obsolete soon and replaced with a newer version.
2. The xbox is no way reliable enough and you'll end up spending more money on it eventually.
3. The Ps3's technology is way in front of the xbox, as up and coming games will prove to you.
4. Only the xbox elite is HDMI compatible i believe.
5. Your main reason could only be the Forza3/GT5 issue, which is silly really.
6. Its not wireless.
7. You have to pay for online gaming.
8. The batteries in the controllers last about 5 mins and you have to buy rechargable/charger.
9. No sixaxsis.
10. It looks plop.

i could go on but i'm bored now.

All that money could be used on the new exclusives tho =O.. /Sarcasm.

I'm pretty worried about my PS3 getting YLOD considering I have a launch console 60GB AU version. Since I've heard a lot about the launch consoles getting YLOD :(
