I'm suing Polyphony Digital for a million dollars.

You may be asking why. Trust me, I have good reason if you just read on.

This past Saturday I had my first big "off" at a track day. While neither I nor my car were seriously damaged, well - that's the point. Damage did, in fact, occur.

What the hell, Polyphony? Your "Real Driving Simulator" led me to believe that no ill would come of running into a tire wall at speeds in excess of 150 MPH. I hit at less than 30 and sustained damage.

You lied to me PD - plain and simple. Now you're going to pay for those lies! :grumpy:

Exhibit A:

WHAT IS THIS POLYPHONY DIGITAL? IT LOOKS LIKE "DAMAGE" TO ME. THE SAME "DAMAGE" YOU FAILED TO ACKNOWLEDGE IN YOUR "SIMULATOR". J'ACCUSE!

This is where I went off. Squint and you can see the skid marks. That same rubber used to keep the ride smooth in my car. I'm also suing you for denying the existence of flatspotting.

Draw your own conclusions, but I think it's an open-and-shut-case.

Nice car! I'm sorry you banged it up a bit, but I don't get your joke.....

Your an idiot.

You went on to a track day of your own desition, not to make sure that a crash at 150 mph will reult in no dmage at all and not to prove Polyphony Digital wrong.

There is NO WAY IN HELL you will win that my friend. They even have notices WITHIN the game saying to drive carefully with a seatbelt etc etc etc.

You're an idiot for believing him.

I do get the joke but me being me I've got to correct him anyway. Pop GT4 into your PS2, when the screen with all the info comes up before the intro movie, that pretty much excludes PD from any liability if anyone tries to replicate and moves they did in GT4.

Where's that quote from in Duke's Sig....

"It's your own fault for sucking"

Sorry, Risingson, just having a laugh at your expense.

You lame wallrider! :D

It's all true. ;)

Well, I didn't see you out there...:mischievous:

Also, I'd like to point out that approaching a turn at 105 is far scarier in real life than in a game.

Haha ha – good way to make a show, risingson! :D Haven’t seen you around lately – how’re things?

Oh... So is that one of those tracks that you get a 5 second penalty?

Hey, it's risingson77, my fellow seventy-sevener in crime! Man, I haven't seen a post from you in ages...

Gotta hate that "fake" damage though... It looks like it stung a bit.

:dopey: But you're in an Integra, FWD I might add.

Understeer is less of a problem than you'd think. Even my instructor remarked on how neutral my car is, and he drives an E30 M3. So nyeah. :P

I haven't been up to much, except paying to ball up a perfectly good car. :D This took place at Lime Rock Park in Connecticut. There's also NHIS in New Hampshire. It's not as fast as Lime Rock, but it's quite a challenge nonetheless.

Truth be told, I'm not quite sure what set the car off. I think I just went in too fast, really. The tail got light but felt OK for a second. Then it broke so I locked the brakes (you're supposed to do this...it keeps you sliding in a predictable manner so other cars can avoid you more easily). Even thouogh I probably entered the turn at 70ish, I'm certain I hit the tire wall at less than 30. No whiplash, no airbags. Hell, I went on to do the second practice session and time trial (albeit at a slower pace :D).

At the same time, it highlights nicely why you don't want to push a car on a public road. This was a low-speed impact with an object designed to absorb a good deal of impact. Even so, the damage reads like this:
  • Badly scuffed front bumper. Will need sanding and painting.
  • Bent fender. It's been repaired once already (unrelated winter driving mishap), so it'll need to be replaced.
  • Broken A/C tensioner pulley. I think the crash just "finished it off", but that's beside the point. I have no A/C at the moment, but I do have two extra BHP. :mischievous:
  • When the tensioner dropped, it shredded the power steering belt. It was seviceable enough to get me home, but when you have 1.5 ribs left on a 4 rib belt...yeah. It's already been replaced - just $15 and 10 minutes time.
  • Broken headlight and corner marker housing. Given that new units would be $400+ ( :ill: ), it'll be used or fixed with silicone and electrical tape. Hey, if I can't see it and it doesn't affect drivability, what do I care? :sly:
Track days are still dirty great fun. :)

Pfft.

You KNOW you want to.

You'd have a hard time convincing the jury that you were going 150 in an Acura Integra, and that the impact at that speed only crunched the bumper a little bit :)

Pssssh it's America you can sue for anything and get away with it. I mean if someone can sue for getting cancer from cigarettes, for getting burned by coffee, and for being fat from eating...then hell you actually have some what of a case .

BlazinX makes a very good point here.

Hm.

I was just kidding, but I think you're on to something...

Read my post a little more thoroughly guy. ;)

You lame wallrider! :D

I think it'd surprise a lot of people how loose the rear end of a sporty FF car really is. My cousin spun his Civic twice on the track last time we went. I also had the rear end of my Prot' rotate on me, once, and that wasn't a happy day.

Truthfully, it's only under full throttle that an FF car understeers like a barge... and not all of them do it that badly.

How are your rear bushings? Sounds like a loose rear suspension. Anyway, after the first twitch, I'd have been scared ****less... good thing you kept it going in one direction. 👍

I agree with Blazin... it would be an interesting court case. :D

Crappy, from what I've seen. I wouldn't be surprised if the outside rear suspension hit the bumpstop and bounced. It felt that way anyway.

My suspension is due for an update.
