around the GTP site many have been complaning about imports are dumb yet they don't look at the word import hard enough. The word import means: to bring merchandise into a place or country from a foreign or external source.

When people say imports suck guess what? there saying porsches, ferrari, and anything non-american sucks. isn't this true? most people dis imports because of Japanese cars yet it applies to anything non american. just an observation.

i think that is true as i prefer imports especially european cars to american cars. i come from central england.

american cars are about speed and power which is useless if you can't turn properly

i am not against american cars. i'm just saying that when you say imports suck you say that japanese and european cars suck. and if you look at the memberes at GTP they don't hate european cars.

People only say that because they dont like imports. Your statement that american cars dont handle well isnt true either, kind of like saying Imports are dum but the other way:lol:...

BTW, when someone say 'Import car" they are usually referring to Japanese cars though the term means cars imported from another country. So in france a Viper is an Import...

you are just misunderstanding a technicality. if someone says imports suck, they are probably talking about japanese cars. "import" has come to only designate japanese cars because of all of you "import" people. you are the ones that started reffering only japanese cars as imports. import showoff, import tuner, etc.

i would of course say all cars imported to the usa are imports, but if i were going to talk about the ricer crowd, or usa japanese car scene, I would tlak about the "import scene".

you guys started the word, not us.

EDIT: When someone says, "I hate imports.", you know what they mean. They would probably mean import, as in japanese cars. You could say that import means all foreign cars, and you would be right, but you know what the people mean. there are "imports" and "importzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz".

frusterated palm, go on to IRC, or use kazaa. back in the day we only had IRC for movies and anime, but now i guess kazaa has most of that stuff. its also easier to use, and less nerdy..........

I'd say anything that has to be imported into the country is considered an import. So it has to be bought from an importer.

For example they don't make Porches in england but they are readily available in UK spec and conforming to all the regulations.

An import is a car that is not readily available from the usual dealer and is from a different country.

Take the 2nd generation MR2 for example.
In the uk we only got one engine option the 2.0 n/a version (Not sure if it is a 2.0, but a simmilar size anyway) just called the MR-2. However there are some imported Japanese versions over here as well for example the MR-2 G-Limited, which is the Japanese version of the UK spec car. Then the GT-S model which is the turbo, which over here are all imported from Japan.

I wonder if anyone has ever imported a Ford Escort Cosworth to america?

Can you give me Kazaa's address?

search on google.

sometimes when some says imports suck they don't explain enough so the assumption is they hate all imports. i look at it that way.

Yeah but you if I imported something like a Ford Mondeo ST220 to america that could be considered an import even though it is under the Ford brand name, its just not in ford's us car lineup.

Or on the other hand I wouldn't consider an Civic/Integra type R an import, because they had a few on sale at the local honda dealerships.

But still imports because the company is from another country. Even though MAZDA, Subaru, and NISSAN and a few other japanese companies have factories in the US but still called imports...

that is your opinion. someone could say that because it was built here, it is not imported from anywhere. it is therefor not an import.

opinion opinion opinion. i have told you a million times.

Yeah...That pretty much sums the way I feel. :mischievous:

Bah... It's like "kleenex." Kleenex does not mean facial tissue, it is a brand. Same thing. When people say "import" other people think "Japanese" because, like kleenex, they are the most abundant import cars in the U.S. Technically you are correct Askia47... technically.

No. "Precisely" is a way of saying "Indeed," or "Exactly." It is an expression of agreement. And I think you meant to ask if I was being "sarcastic."
