In Car View mode ONLY

Okay who else wants to be able to customize online race options and set things like which views are allowed. Wouldn't it be fun having a race where everyone has to use in car view mode? You would all be able to take advantage of people mirrors and blind spots to make passes!

It wouldn't be a good option. It's not like everyone has the same opinions on everything, some people like 3rd person and being able to see the car, while some prefer to sit inside the cockpit.

I know and understand that, I personally prefer 3rd myself I'm just suggesting it as an option. I'm pretty sure when this game goes live they're going to be plenty of server games and being able to set options to only incar view will make things interesting wouldn't you say. Of course they're could be dedicated official servers where everything is able but if you decide to host your own game you should be able to set the rules right?

This should be an option yes. Especially for tournaments. Forza2 does it and its a great tool for races. Every sim games should have the ability to force certain settings like that. If you don't like the in-car view, don't play that server.

No, it doesn't. Prologue's in car view is one of the best, but it still doesn't afford me all I need to judge my position next to the other cars, doesn't give me a good sense of a turn and still has too much of the inside of the car, making it look quite letterboxed. I'm still racing with roofcam because for me it offers the best combination of visibility and sense of the area around my car. And yes, if it becomes a server option, I don't think it'll be a good idea and I won't race on those servers.

No because the incar view is stupid IMO while you already have a wheel in your hands. The cockpit should not be felt remotely, but as if you "are" the cockpit. I never used that view seriously in games, instead I use the bamper cam and the speed and overall fun is better from that view. I hope I don't see GT5 transform into some super duper hardcore BS game like GTR2 and Race are, they are boring because of the large complexity. It will scare people away, only those few hardcore players in the world will be happy.

Restricted to TCS, ABS, ASM all OFF, is all good for supersport cars. But please PD don't limit the game to only In car view and Manual Transmission, these things should be left neutral. Not all people have the same way in percepting things.


They could add the option of course, so that you choose the server at will, that should keep all the players happy. I am against radical monopolistic measures only.

i really hope private lobbies will have a lot of options (including what this thread suggests) to make games more restrictive: for example, i'd love an expert lobby where everyone has to play with ALL assists off (including ABS), only certain hp range, etc
