In Gran Turismo 7 single player, would you welcome the option to view how other cars are tuned?

This morning, I was playing through single player Cafe menus. I struggled my way through the Petite Course de France. I was driving the DD 3 Racing '11, and since I had recently tuned it, it took me awhile to get a good feel for how the car handled on Alsace Village.

It occurred to me that it could have been very helpful to view the tuning of other cars in the championship, particularly the ones who placed in the top three. This would have given me more ideas for how to tune my own car.

I think it would also give the player more incentive to think about tuning, and could serve as a fun and interesting side game where the championship isn't just about driving the car, but finding the right tuning for the particular track in comparison to the other cars you're up against. Thoughts?

Yes. Yes I would strongly like this. 👍

Especially with so much of the tuning PD apply to the supercars for the World Tour and Route X races. Plus, the Clubman+ races.

They've got the replica Calsonic R32 with requisite mega front negative camber. Also, the Saitama Toyotpet GreenBrave Toyota Crown RS replica.

We used to see the specs of cars because we could buy them. PD should make some of their own tuned cars available to purchase.

I think it would be helpful, but I don't think the cars have been optimized for any particular thing. It's usefulness would vary. In some races you can come in way under-specced and win, leaving a comfortable amount of performance left on the table to build towards.

Part of the issue is the PP system itself sometimes, since it happens that 4WD 'punished less' compared to other drivetrains. 4WD is exceptional at accelerating, and its very rare you can use the 'full power' or top speed of the car on most tracks - its a no-brainer pick 90% of the time.

In lobbies, absolutely, since it would let you see the games being played with the PP system when you didn't do your homework yet -- a bit beyond the scope of this thread, though.

How is this kind of information handled IRL? Are detailed tunes disclosed to other teams? If not, maybe we should at least get to watch an ai practice lap and glean what we can from that.

Different series, different rules.
For gt3 (and derived classes like lmgt3 and GTD) the SRO group creates bop tables. These bop tables are created by applying different formulas and with data gathered from previous races. These bop tables are published for the race (+ practice & qualifying sessions).
For the GTP class in imsa the gtp manufacturer sit down and discuss how to bop each other cars (with the help of data collected by imsa).
In SuperGT gt500 you have "same spec" cars with same power and weight and its "BoPed" by adding success ballast -> more success means more ballast (it was up to 100KG in the '24 season)

I support this! It would be great if we as a community could upload and share tuning setups in general. This might be difficult to realize properly, though.
