In the market to replace my G25

So I am looking for alternatives for my 13 year in use G25.

I have a TH8A shifter that I'd like to keep on using. I also have a drivehub to connect the G25 to the ps4. The ps4 is my racing platform with AC, Pc2 and DR2.0 as my fav sims.

I am looking into two options: Fanatec or Thrustmaster.

I read that the quick release system of the Fanate Elite is not as sturdy as one would like.

But how about the realiabilty of the T300?

Any input is appreciated.

I am still rocking my G25 on my ps4. So there is no rush.

I see that the Thrustmaster pedals have plastic hinges. That's a no go for me.

Fanatec will blow the Thrustmaster out of the water any day of the week. The quick release is solid on the P1, but can be damaged if run with too high torque (DD even with limited torque already) or by people using the wheel to get out of the cockpit (NEVER DO THAT!). My P1 has been used a lot and never had issues, but it can be damaged with enough force/not enough brains.

As for the pedals, the V3s are miles ahead of the LCM in terms of build quality.

Overall, not even a comparison in my opinion.

Thrustmaster = Past
Fanatec = Future

On console you have no options to customise your wheel settings(except ingame options, if there some).
With Fanatec wheels you have the ability to change the usual stuff at the wheel itself, which gives you much more freedom to adjust things to your liking.

I also looked at the Elite pedals. Those still have potentiometers and a spring mechanism that is worse than my G25 pedals.

Do the vibration motors on the clubsport pedal work in ps4 games?

Will my TH8a work in AC, pc2 and DR2.0 when I attach it to the 2nd ps4 usb slot? Or should I go the Drivehub way?

If those are the alternatives then yes I'd say the Fanatec route is the way to go. To compete with the CSL Elite you'd probably have to be looking at a TS-PC Racer on the Thrustmaster side.

I can certaiinly vouch for the V3, they are excellent. But if you go for them I highly recommend getting the brake performance kit too. Almost not worth it otherwise.

The nice thing about those formula style rims is that they are suitable for other types of race cars as well, GT3 in particular.
The McLaren GT3 can likewise also be used for formula cars, but unfortunately it's not available at the moment, probably due to the corona situation.

Soon as there is no rush, I think at this point it is much better to wait for official PS5 wheels. PS5 full reveal might be on June 4th so should get wheel announcements soon. Logitech new wheels might be first big change since the G25 so worth waiting to see what improvements they have managed. Wonder if anyone will implement haptic feedback on the pedals themselves.

Just my 2 cents.

In Jan I upgraded from a G920 with a Drivehub on PS4 to the https://fanatec.com/eu-en/bundles/x...net&utm_campaign=General+Links&a_aid=gtplanet and added the load cell brake pedal, I already had the drivehub and the CSW 2.5 is a much better built wheelbase then the CSL Elite and only $200 more in Australia with the bundle, and $200 less than the individual components.

The CSL Elite Pedals with LC are great, they leave the Logi and Thrustmaster pedals in the dust (haven't tried the T-LCM pedals), and I actually choose them over the V3's for price, ease of changing the bumpers., and I only use 2 pedals ATM and they give me more adjustment options than the V3 pedals, I have actually inverted mine, and I have a spare pedal if I have any issues down the track (which I have converted to a analog handbrake to test in Dirt Rally 2.0 before buying a dedicated handbrake)

The Plastic QR isn't as good as a metal one, but I have had no issues in the 3 months I have had it, and it is a lot stronger then my G920, I use it nearly everyday, and I take mine off a lot when my son wants to play games on the PS4.

That is indeed a good choice!

If all goes well money wise, I'd like to get the V3 pedals, as I want a real upgrade. Even though the pots in my Logitech pedals work as new. I put tape on the hole of the the pot to prevent dust from entering.

And @Goonie75 , with your base, you can always upgrade to a Fanatec wheel that has the metal QR.

The T3PA pedals do have plastic pedal arms but they are solid and well made. The T300 is built very poorly (as you can see when you strip it down) but the pedal set is built very well.

I would not spend that sort of money on a PS4 sim setup until it is confirmed that current wheels will work with PS5 and PS5 games.

I moste likely will not get the ps5 on release day. So hopefulle Fanatec can update the license with Sony for some stuff.

And if not: the Drivehub people will come with a solution.

This is definitely not correct, the Wheel Base + is in stock. We try to keep the stock status on all products as accurate as possible, every day. As far as I know, all listings are correct (at the time of this post).

I reckon the formula wheels are a bit small for me. Looking at the BMW rim. Would this work with the Elite wheel base? I read due to its weight the FFB are dampened. That would not be a problem for me as I usually turn effects down a bit.
