Er, as far as I know it was a new "everything else" model they didn't get to use on S2U and the tyre model is their new tech. Almost everything else is still the old ISI system.

About the engine itself Ian. I remember reading you had a new physics engine in the wings and an updated tyre model. I presume these would be the base of the new title? What about the graphics though, would it be the same rendering engine and if so how easy could it be to implement DX11 features? And not just tack on effects so to speak?

I'll be honest and say for me SHIFT2 sort of throws the DX9 statement that it's dead out of the window. The car looks really good, lightiing is superb etc etc.

But with some DX11 effects, then it could possibly look even better.

We have the new physics engine but not the updated tyre model. The current model really is pretty excellent. I planned to add coolness such as flatspots leading to point sourced vibration and other small additions to the base that we have.

Yes it seems your right    talking about missleading people :dunce: Im sorry - when I first read it I though he was talking about SU2 so that why I got it all wrong. :(

EDIT: you didnt post is quote on the original post did you????? I spent so much time searching for the thing to proove you wrong and you beat me to it and it was I that got it wrong in the first place...

EDIT2: but the thing is that there is no plans for a SU3 unfortunatly

I'm kind of new to the racing genre as far as really getting in depth with console racing games, only really got into a little more "hardcore" this gen of consoles, but I have been gaming for about 20 years and have played a good amount of driving games, simulation and arcade.

I have played a lot of Codemasters releases, I loved GRID but the wheel support was horrible for the PS3. More arcade-ish but tons of fun nonetheless. I couldn't find any settings that worked with the wheel. It was a shame too because I loved that game and wanted to experience it with the DFGT.

I did read somewhere that GRID 2 was being developed (hopefully it is true).

Grid has the worst driving physics in any racing game Ive played on any console (PS2/PS3) and I have a DFGT too... GT5 is ok with that wheel and SU2 is great IMO. If you are just looking into driving some laps with great driving physics and good FFB GT5 is very good value for money... but if you want to race SU2 IMO.

Dirt 2 is great also is a bit more arcadish but much more believable and miles ahead of Grid IMO.

I do agree with you. I enjoy the games for what they are though. My heart is pounding after some races in Shift 2. It is an experience I almost never get with GT, no matter what car and track I am running on.
