If these where the only 3 to choose from I would get the G35. BUT I would be extremely.... EXTREMELY happy with any of the 3 and you would not here one complaint from me :)

i would go with the CTS.

id take the G37 if that was on the table, but the poll excludes it.

but id take a C300bluetec over all of them in the new "entry (are they still considered entry level models?) luxury"

but id take an OM 606 engined W124 300D over all cars.

G35 over the CTS by a slim margin. I've driven all three cars in the poll and I think the G is more fun to drive and represents better value than the other two. I find the exterior styling very dull, however. The color palate for this car is equally boring as well.

The CTS has by far the better exterior styling. It handles well and has great character. But the options get very pricey and is not as light on it's feet as the G. Personality goes a long way, though.

The IS has a much better chassis than some people give it credit. But it is somewhat anodyne, remote and aloof. Impeccable build quality, though. Ultimately capable, but not very interesting.

Mrs. M, I should note, prefers the CTS.

How do so many of you get to drive all these new and diffrent cars? :irked: I wish I could drive and test new cars when they come out. I've only driven 3 cars in a little over a year. (My mother's old skool carburetted boxer 4 Suby wagon, an Excel, and my Ute)

How do I do it?

- Know people at the dealer through previous purchases
- Go in looking for a specific car on "boring" days
- Actually being in the market for a new car
- Family/Friends being in the market for a new car

...etc...

When the dude tossed me the keys to the new Malibu I was shocked, I just came in to have a better look at it, and when I said I write about cars a lot on the internet (nothing specific) he told me to give it a shot.

Meh, some places are easier, others are not.

The Lexus definately wins it for me.

Besides looking the nicest (in my opinion), I know it recieved good reviews regarding the handling.

And I'll mention this again, it looks badass.

I'm just not sure how so many people could vote for the IS with all that suck baked-in?

I can't read Japanese, but I think one can assume that every letter means "No fun."

Well, the G35 is going to sound like every VQ car... A nasty snarl to that V6. The IS350 is a bit more subdued, but in the high ranges, she'll sing. The Cadillac is American, so its going to be a bit loud, but nothing bad... If you know what a VE Commodore sounds like, you can get close to the CTS.

Because it doesn't have sucked baked in? Because it has reliable and sharp looks baked in? Because it doesn't have to do with GM? Because its the most refined?

I dunno what your deal is all the time, but its a quality product. Its not hard core Bimmer precise or feedbacky, but the vast majority of humans would prefer that trait of Lexus.

The Lexus is the least ugly, the Caddy's interior LOOKS cheap (too much switchgear) and I still can't stand the looks, and the G35 is not good looking inside or out.

No.1 - G35
No.2 - IS350
No.3 - CTS

No. Again, I'm not a GM hater, I'm a fan. But I sure hate the design trend of the Caddies these days. G35 is the one I'm most impressed by it's looks, and IS350 looks considerably better than GS or LS cars to me. Since I've never driven any of them, I went by their "looks". :sly:

Lexus IS is spelled VDIM. That's why it doesn't win, despite how good the chassis is.
Douglas and I can't figure out why all these car guys want to ride in a car that drives itself...

LMBO.

EDIT: Ah, I just remembered that you can do that "stomp stomp yank yank" thing and turn off the traction control. Every time you start the car.

I suppose, but you must remember that this is an enthusiast forum. Sure, in a luxury car all of those Lexus-type things are great, but when you're marketing a "sport sedan" thats supposed to meet "sporting standards," I'd much rather go for the more-involving Infiniti, or balance between the two, the Cadillac.

I don't care much for the looks, the performance is good, but it all just feels a bit to "sterile" to get me anywhere close to "excited."

*sigh*

Different strokes for different folks...

A = Horn Sensor
B = Brake Actuator (Brake Assist feature)
C = "Steering Rate" Torque Sensor
D = Power Steering Actuator
E = Wheel Speed Sensor
F = Super Hello Kitty Transmogrifier
G = Yaw Rate Sensor
H = Power Steering Computer
I = Engine Control Computer

VDIM is not defeatable, but the Traction Control is defeatable. VDIM generally doesn't kick in by itself until you run out of talent, or forgot to brake for a car-sized solid object in the road.

I took a certification test on this stuff, and drove one on a closed course. Not too shabby, although I'm not big on the electric steering.

On that note, the IS-F IS a good car. It's just rather expensive, but Toyota finally let someone put -GE heads on an engine again, and defeat the VDIM.

You failed.

Because the IS is a great car, I'm pretty sure you read a bunch of car magazines, well I assume this by all the great car knowledge you seem to have...so you'd know that the IS has been previewed a lot and many of them liked it.Ok, so the IS has got some electronics some would rather not have, but that's all what's to blame on the IS. The looks kill the CTS and G35 for me at once, it's been a long time since I've seen such nice things from Toyota, I'd even take this over any BMW 3-er purely based on looks and pricing. 5.6 seconds from 0-60 mph isn't slow, so don't start complaining that it's boring on the straights. Didn't you Americans care most for straight line speed anyway? :P

I bet if most weren't so anti-Toyota without actually giving the IS a chance, I'm pretty sure you could be nicely surprised after a test drive, but hey, I didn't drive it, so I don't know.

So far there looks to be 32 misguided souls who didn't pick the G35. For shame.
In terms of sedans, the G35 would come second. It has that fun factor, but not like the IS. The G Coupe, though...well, that's a whole 'nother barrel of fun.
I'm just not sure how so many people could vote for the IS with all that suck baked-in?
Because it doesn't suck. As impressed as I was by the CTS, it's still nothing like the IS350 in terms of enjoyment. The IS is just an incredibly fun car to drive.

Mmm yes, because I have so much fun sitting back and letting the car do everything for me like the IS. Seriously though, how can you all be voting for the G35? It might be cheaper but it's the ugliest and most boring to me. So the IS ranks second for me, the CTS is still first.

Go and actually drive an IS around an autocross course. Then come back.

Because despite having "computer aids" which is something even a lot of supercars are starting to feature, it's still an awesome car to drive because it can be pushed very far.

I agree, after driving my bosses IS a couple of times I rather enjoyed the way it felt. Granted I didn't push the car since it wasn't mine and I was on public roads but you could tell it could be sporty if you wanted it to be.
