Initial D AE86

The AE86 scene is big over here! Twin Cams they're known as. Most are whats called Paddy Spec but theres lots of drift style ones too.

Great cars would love one!

Yeah they are huge in Ireland. I got mine from japan, nearly got killed by a can of Guiness after I out bid an irish fellow for it.

That's all well and good, but it still wasn't made in 2000.

True Toronado, but Shuichi could have built it up to it's 20valve form in 2000, hence making it a 2000 model. ;) Remember, I-D was started in 1995, so there was plenty of time for him to build a car to replicate his storyline. :)

Anyway, the show doesn't make sense. The GT-R R32 was like "Ohh, wow! Super technology!". One year later, the R34 immediately appears... Wait, what? The AE86 is greatly overrated in the show. The biggest proof is that, being the God-like drivers at the end of 4th Stage, who have drove like 20 years straight, and can't beat a pair of young guys? That's why I stopped watching, and why I have given up hope of using the AE86 anymore.

[...] One of his notable students is Jyoji Morikawa, creator of Hajime no Ippo

waaaa...? the only remote similarity is that they both focus on a real sport.

except Hajime no Ippo isn't full of crap. some part are a bit dramatic so that it's actually entertaining but you don't see Ippo take on 200 lbs world-class boxers and win.

But since when did we start reading Manga and watching Anime for realism?
Suspension of disbelief is awesome.

The Buick Special was certainly not made in 1962, and that has a lot more done to it than the S.S. AE86. The Skyline S-Tune makes even less sense.
