On your profile post I commented "1st stage with 5th stage animation. That would be awesome."

This is even better than Stage 5 animation, I like the way they made it look like the manga.

Hm, I half agree with you and I half don't. I do agree with you on how it does kind of feel like the manga, but half of me kind of prefers the simplicity of 5th Stage animation. Legend 1's can feel a bit overdone at times. Maybe if it was a bit more of a faithful remake I'd feel different.

More eurobeat would be nice, but the music they picked does work well.

I would like eurobeat in general. :P Or at least some high tempo music.

I'd rather have 4th stage animation. It looks realistic compared to 5th. The fifth stage one looks weird, the cars turn too fast imo.

3rd stage is the epitome of realistic animation. And this being a movie I was hoping that they would spend the dough to get it to that level. Unfortunately with the way the series is going that's not gonna happen. Still a pretty good movie btw, but the story feels a bit rushed in some places. Now I'm looking forward to Legend 2 with the R32, one of my favourite battles in the series :D

I started watching this and... I was totally confused on how Takumi looked. He doesn't look the same; if anything, he looks like Ryosuke from stage 2 or 3. That's disappointing.
That's odd. I thought he looked the same as he did during the Fourth Stage, at least to me.

Somehow, this version of Takumi is a little bit more similar to the manga version than the anime version. He started to like driving a lot sooner than he did in the anime, which is like the manga

What exactly are those new movies? fillers?

I think they're remakes of what happened in First Stage updated with modern animation, considering that First Stage premièred back in 1998.

I'm a bit iffy on the new cast. I mean, they got some characters right like Takumi, Itsuki and Bunta. I'll have to see the next two films to really gather a good opinion on this choice of new cast.

As for the new music, I'm expecting to be shot with machine guns for this, but I actually like it. As someone who listens to rock quite frequently, this new soundtrack bodes well with my ears. However, I will say it cannot top the legendary Eurobeat. I always have said that even if you don't like Initial D, you can take the awesome soundtrack away from it. It really is extremely good. (Unless you watched the Tokyopop dub of Initial D, in which case, I feel sorry for you. :P )

Candle Flames is pretty good, but nothing can top NO ONE SLEEPS IN TOKYO during Keisuke's "Nani?! KANSEI DORIFTO????!!!!" from First Stage :P

Yeah i admit when Candle Flames started, it was pretty awesome but Keisuke watching in awe while the 86 doing kansei drift in slow motion from first stage is really epic.

I don't get it. They just keep making re-makes of the same thing?

Extended trailer

^Ryosuke vs Takeshi battle, something we haven't seen in the First Stage.

It wasn't really a full on battle in First Stage though, so it'll likely be the same again in Legend 2.

It's at the beginning here in Episode 6.

It's more of a retelling of First Stage updated with modern animation, new voice actors and a new soundtrack since the Initial D anime first began way back in around 1998/1999.

Battle Stage showed that battle, too.

Edit: Hang on, got names mixed up.

Though I feel these 3 movies are unnecessary milking of the series, it also reminded me how awesome the races were back in First Stage. Every opponent, every car, every race has something different to it than before, even though Takumi still wins all of them. By Fifth Stage the races just feel cookie cutter.

I wonder which battles the 3rd part will have? Takumi vs Ryosuke is a definite. Takumi vs Mako probably will be in as well since Impact Blue is pretty popular with fans. That leaves Takumi vs Kenta and Keisuke vs Nakazato. I would prefer to see FD vs R32, but I think they'll either only have 2 races or keep the focus on Takumi and have 86 vs S14.

-> Heres a nice factoid from another forum, if you're a fan of Best MOTORing/Hot Version then you'll get my "drift":

Nice. But we're still waiting for Legend 2 blu-ray. :indiff:

But while waiting, you might like to see the "Eurobeat version" of the Legend 1.

Just watched Legend 2 raw (unsubbed). My little knowledge of Japanese and having read the manga allowed me to understand the story fully (there are no major story differences from the First Stage). But I think I'll rewatch it sometime, when the subs are ready.

9/10 to me 👍, better than the Legend 1 IMO, but the First Stage is still better.
