I was just wondering how you would change the rear tires on an Insight if it got a flat or something.

the extended wheel well comes off, with snaps or something of the sort.

If I bought one, I'd take those things off as soon as possible...less weight equals better mileage...

Not to spite it would look normal...also some lightweight wheels would help...

It doesn't look like there is a seam whear the covers would lift up or come off.
Here is a better Pic:

They weigh about two pounds each.

duo: Yep, there's a seam. I had to help take my friend's off his car. There's a full page or two in the owners' manual devoted to it, though they suggest that the owner should only do it under emergency and that it's best left to the dealer.

hey 2 pounds is plenty!

Also, the battery power is 1.4V C-cell(or was that D...) sized batterys(144 of em)...I'd put a ton of Energizer E Squareds in there...I rekon it might just work...

I have no FREGGEN clue! Mazda hasn't released anything. They say Fall 2002, and somewhere said September.

I'll guess probably late October(my B-day, that would be an awsome gift for a 16 year old now wouldn't it!)or November.

RX-8 just says Spring 2003. No month, no nothing. The Japanese Mazda site doesn't even have anything on the RX-8...

I guess they are going with a sudden attack...just releasing the car and getting a ton of a sort of "keeping up with the Jones's" type thing(if you have no clue what I'm talking about, it's like when a nieghbor or freind gets something cool, and then you want one) .

Ah, I don't care about the RX-8, I find it ugly.

The Mazda6 has the potential to re-define America's family sedan - do you realise that!? This thing needs to come out! Though I believe the wagon won't sell for crap. Other than a certain company's all-wheel drive wagons, no one's bought a wagon in like six years.

November!? I can't wait until November! I want to see if this thing is as cool as I think it can be. You'd better hope the magazines prove it to be better than the Altima - if that happens, you're looking at car of the year.

Hang on actually...I got this Mazda Magazine(that is from Mazda State, thier employees thingy and tech training ect)and it had something about the 6...lemme look for the info.

The mag is Mazda FUEL...it's an official thingy with tons of info(I don't know why this mag is not sent out to people who would request it...this has all of the info and everything)...

Anyhoo, they say, and I qoute:

"All the exitement surrounding the Mazda 6 is justified. And soon, you'll get the chance to see it for yourself. Just like the other recent Mazda model launches, Mazda State will host a series of Mazda 6 Zoom Zone driving events around the country, giving you the oppertunity to experience firsthand its amasing fusion of style, performance, and innovation. More details, as availible, will be posted on www.mazdastate.com, so be sure to check back often."

to dissect that, the Zoom Zone events are invitational only, and for employees(and people from dealerships ect.). My dad goes to these, and they are usually before the release of the model(like the Mazdaspeed Protege Zoom Zone that my dad went to, and the MSP is coming in a month or so...)and is to allow the people close to Mazda to drive the cars and learn about them.

"With the Mazda 6 Zoom Zone, Mazda State is offering choices. Not only will there be half-day Zoom Zones in 20 cities, but we've created a two-and-a-half hour "lite" version for smaller markets. while both deliver the test drive experience, only the half-day sessions will include competitive autocross driving and lunch.
Beginning in October, refer to www.mazdastate.com for dates, times, and locations."

So, there you have it. If the Zoom Zone events are in October, figure that the release will be in November.

and don't try to go to Mazda State's website...you have to be registered in thier system(no, you can't register from the site, I've tried. However, my dad is registered) to even get into the site at all.

This is the first issue of FUEL, which is Sept-Oct, and the next issue is Nov-Dec...

I'd guess that. It's never official though.

Remeber when GT2 was "released"? the date jumped like a gerbal when you clap your hands outside of the cage. November 20 something became december 11 became January, it was nuts.

That doesn't happen in the car industy though...the car industy just keeps the date a secrete untill right before the release(remember the RSX? The commercial said July 7th(if I remember) and the ad came on TV in late June(2001 ofcourse).

Don't worry, it'll be out before too long. If you want I could probably arrange to reserve one from my dad's dealership and you can drive down here and get it...

Blah I know aren't gonna buy one, you got 2 brand new cars(or close to).

True, though I'm still holding out for a name change on the Volkswagen 'Touareg.' Subaru changed the name of the Forester about a month before it was to come out (though I can't quite remember the name of the original car - it was pretty stupid, though it was better than 'Touareg'). I personally think the RS-X was suicide for Acura and I could get ino a page-long thing about why the Integra had the brand presence to put Acura on the sport sedan map, but I won't.

True, but I've never had as many problems with a car as I have had with the Mercedes. Rarely does it start on its first try, and there's always some sound eminating from somewhere, or the radio buttons are loose, or the dome light burnt out...it's a piece of junk, if you ask me, for what it's supposed to be.

In any case, I can not wait to test-drive the 6 - as soon as I see one out, I'm going to go to the dealer and check it out.

The wagon is cool. It's supposed to compete with Saab's and Volvos and the like, but cost less. And, the only other Japanese wagon out now is the Subaru Imprezza and Legacy(and Outback), so it should sell pretty well.

Though, if I was able to get a 6, I would get the Sport no doubt.

Yes, but in doing so you'd destroy the aerodynamics, so by reducing the weight insignificantly, you'd massively increase the drag.

I still consider the Legacy Outback the best move Subaru ever made, and one of the best moves in auto history. Who would've thought a wagon would sell SO well? I'd LOVE to see the sales figures for that car.

I don't think anything can compete with it.

True. But it will compete with the regular Imprezza. Also has awsome styling that will sell to someone looking for a good styled hauler.

Yep - awesome styling indeed. Frankly, I thought its styling would be second to the Altima's, but yesterday I heard some people dissing the Altima's lights (ALL of them). :reallyodd I suppose the Mazda6'll take the styling cake, here.

Especially because the Camry is as ugly as Klos.

Well, the 6 is on the road here - it's an attractive car, but more an evolution of the old 626 - beefed up, I suppose you'd call it.

Can anyone explain why you would buy a Honda Insight when the Toyota Prius is cheaper and more practical?

The Prius is heavier and more, how do you say...ugly.

The Insight is more of a sporty economical car.

Vat-the 6 is a combo of the Millenia and 626...bigger 626 size and FF, and Millenia power and styling.
