If you haven't heard about it, you should if you like FPS games.
Insurgency is the most anticipated and widely recieved mod for the Source engine since CS:S Zombie Mod.
Basically, the game takes a shot at "re-creating" the current war. You play as either the Insurgents or the U.S. Marines. Each team is divided into 2 squads w/ a commander. The great thing about this is that each class (riflemen, grenadiers/RPG gunners, engineers/sappers, snipers/marksmen, and support) can only have so many folks so only a select few can be in snipers while others fill up other positions. The U.S. Marines also have strong armor, but low reinforcements, and opposite for Insurgents.
Being with squads, you MUST stick together. It is essential to do so, as you can be overrun alone trying to capture an objective.
There are 4 different kinds of gameplay as well.
Battle is what it is. Both teams can push on the offensive or defensive and is based on front line fighting.
Push is similar but you are either holding your ground or pushing the enemy out.
Firefight is also similar but involves much strategy and wits as objectives become crucial.
Strike is similar to Hold the Fort. Your team must either hold all the objectives until the opposition has run out, or capture the other team.
Now, some things you should know. There is no crosshair. The game runs based on realism. You'll have to rely on your "scopes" for help. Damage is also very quick. 4 shots will insure death unlike other games. With the minus of crosshairs, there is also NO HUD. You must rely entirely on your wits and what you can do. This easily ensures realism.
Overall, it's very fun, and a great change of flow from other games. The game is currently in Beta stages you can play (and are so far, flawless). Beta 1.0 is out and then requires Beta Patch 1.1. When released, it was also the most played Steam Mod of any game.
I will note though, there are no vehicles (none that I've seen driveable anyways), and combat tactics are a must. You must use wits in this game because it is very EASY to die. Quick shots ensure death. This means you must take use of crouching, running, sprinting, laying down, and hiding. It requires a lot of basic combat knowledge to play without a quick death.
In Conclusion, it's very fun, very tricky, and very different. It's very easy to take to one gun more than another. I took to the Insurgent sniper rifle so fast, I picked off 3 opponents in 2 minutes. Other guns though like the shotgun, required some getting used to, esp. in open combat.

If you have a Steam game that uses the Source engine of any kind, all you'll need to do is download the SDK Base tool, and you're good to go. Great graphics, great combat, and great multiplayer action.
