GT6 should be based on a new engine, and should max out the power of the PS4. GT5's engine I think is pushing the PS3 close to it's maximum already.
Here is how it would work. There are several cars that people want Premiumed. And there are cars that people want in the game.
Likewise, there are several tracks that are missing real time weather and night/day. The damage model can be improved.
And there are a few other features the game needs.
PD should work on all these things. They should release the most popular ones as DLC for GT5 on the wait time until Epilogue. And once they implement all of them, they should release Gran Turismo 5 Epilogue sometime in 2012.
However Epilogue won't have 1000+ cars. It will have 300-400 cars but every single car will be a premium model, and all of the most desired cars, as well as all the cars from Top Gear, and even a few Porsche's, will be on the list.
This Epilogue will be the most perfect racing game ever conceived. No, it won't have 1000+ cars. But it will have every single car that people want, and they will all be premium models. It will full damage. It will have every single track that people want, and they will all have night/day and weather. Unlike GT5, Epilogue will be consistent, every track and car and feature included will be a the pinnacle of perfection. It will make PD a lot of money because some of the more popular cars and tracks will be released as DLC in the mean time. And when it comes out, Epilogue will serve as the PS3's swan song and will give us all some much needed closure until GT6 comes out.
