Anybody still like them today?

I do, I have Killers, Piece of Mind, Fear of the dark, Ed Hunter, and Rock in Rio (DVD).
Iron Maiden

I searched all 18 pages, and I didn't find anything similar.

I only listen to them for a laugh. They're a classic, but I find they're so over the top with their Glam. I have Dance of Death (the new one) and the Best of CD.

I think they have 2 good songs...2 Minutes to Midnight and Number of the Beast.

I have: Fear of the dark, A Real live dead one (2CD), Dance of death, Powerslave Piece of mind and Best of the beast

I listen to Maiden very often, I plan to buy Dance of Death as soon I can change my check into my credit card.

2 Minutes to Midnight and Number of the Beast are a few of my favorites, but the song I love from Maiden are: Flight of Icarus, Quest For Fire, Man on the Edge, Fear of the Dark, and Run to the Hills

Fear of the Dark, my most favorite CD, I listen to it more than any.

I only have mp3s..... But they are the best band.

Or maybe one of the best.

It is one of the best bands I've heard.
My Favorites?:
1. Slayer
2. Motley Crue
3. Iron Maiden
4. Cannibal Corpse
5. Slipknot

Glam is make-up, too much hair spray, showing off hairy chests, tight pants, etc...

How come you don't consider them glam??????!!!!! They are probably one of the most known Glam Rock/Metal bands of all time!! I don't understand...

What are you talking about? Iron Miaden have not been, and never will be, glam. They have never used make-up or hairspray in their life. Glam was T-rex, Sweet, Slade etc.

Not glam

Oh, and I have every Miaden album.

After reading some of the other post, I have made my decision, they are not glam rock/metal at all, at least from the pics that Daan put, they don't.

(By the way, I am surprised that it already has 12 post, my others didn't even past 10, my thread on Judas Priest has about 8-10 post, the one on Brujeria has about 7-8)

edit: make it 13

Iron Maiden aren't exactly Glam, but I know exactly what you're saying, Jimmy. They can't really be taken seriously can they? Watch This is Spinal Tap for the funniest send up of 'heavy metal' bands of the Iron Maiden ilk ever (actually one of the funniest movies ever). Apparantly the film ruffled a few feathers in the Maiden camp too!

And a bit of useless information; I used to go to school with Nico McBrain's son!

I dont believe they are "glam", i think bands such as poison and Ratt and all the others fit in that category.

I have clips of live concerts, and they are all overdosed on hairspray, wearing black leather belts, a few have shirts off...but some of this footage is early Maiden, so in this case I might have to admit I'm wrong. They do sound like a Glam band would sound though, and you can't argue with that!

Sorry about this half-argument, I'm wrong, but I have some early clips of them and they were at least 3/4 Glam back whenever this footage was taken. I only found out today that it was early Maiden. Again, sorry.

They really don't. I mean, it's so much more difficult and technical than the hair bands. Would you say that Metallica sounded 'glam'?

No I wouldn't say Metallica sounded Glam...what that has to do with anything I don't know, because Iron Maiden sound nothing like Metallica. Iron Maiden may be more technical, but the singer sounds very Glam...have a listen to almost anything from them...sounds Glam...the high pitched voice he does alot...very Glam... ;)👍

I listened to a LOT of Maiden in middleschool.. they were very popular then. I stopped buying their records after Seventh Son of a Seventh Son, which was a travesty of an album, IMO. I still do like old school Maiden; Killers through Somewhere in Time were great rock albums.

I think the second guitar riff I ever learned, right after the intro to 'Smoke on the Water' was 'Revelations'.

What is great about Maiden is not only their composition, but their subject matter. I mean, how many rock/metal bands write songs about Frank Herbert and Robert Heimlan novels? Cool stuff.

MAIDEN WAS NOT GLAM. For christ sake glam is Poison or Bon Jovi or Cinderella or Motley Crue. The forefathers of glam-rock is KISS.

I went and read Rime of the Ancient Mariner by Samuel Taylor Coleridge because of the Maiden song. I probably wouldn't have otherwise. I know a bit about Alexander the Great now too because of Maiden. So they have broadened my horizons.

My Iron Maiden CD drawer.

OK, I've cleared this up in a previous post. I was corrected and I admitted I was wrong, I apologised. No further argument on the Glam factor.

This is something I found on the Iron Maiden website, anybody going to the tour, I can't since there aren't any near Seattle.
