Based on how the Viper handled tonight before my power decided to have fun, I'm heavily considering changing vehicles, but I feel it may have been the track that caused it, so I'll hold off for the moment.

TO ALL:

I am considering changing the start time 30 minutes later! Rather than putting up a poll I would ask that everyone who is okay with this click "Like" on this post.

For those that disagree or have a conflict that causes you to drop out please post your situation up here or send me a PM.

This is what race night would look like:

  • 8:30 pm Eastern - Lobby opens for practice
  • 9:00 pm 20 minute Qualifying starts
  • 9:20 pm Race Starts immediately after Qualifying
I will make the change if the majority is cool with it. It is only 30 minutes (which may be a lot, depending on people's individual situations) but it would allow a very good racer to participate.

Tonight's schedule will remain the same since I have the MX5 Challenge Race right after.

Still disappointed with the change to Mondays. By the time I get off work, drive home, and be ready to race 7PM (8PM Eastern) is the absolute earliest I could make and may be late sometimes. But I dont need to worry about that until Feburary 2020 if you guys are still racing because that is the soonest Mondays will be available to me, if at all.

It's really tough to find drivers for weeknights. Fridays and Saturdays are usually fine but once it gets to the work week people tend to want to stop a little earlier. This puts a limit on what they can and can't sign up for during the week. Add in kids to the equation and even if you're home you probably can't start racing until you put them to bed or something so you can't start until later and since you can't stay up as late you can't do anything. It sucks. Good thing I'm a bachelor

The "Registered Drivers" post (#3 on the first page) has been updated to list the Pro and Pro Am category drivers! Please review the list and file your complaint with me via PM.

@Wilo28 @Jeff Castillo - I have no idea whether you are at Pro or Pro Am pace. Are you available on Saturday or Sunday night for a quick test session? I will host. You just need to enter the lobby and run some laps.

@Alan_2134 @DesertPenguin I have an idea where your at.

I hope I haven't offended anyone.
:gtpflag:

We are both Pro AM category. We'll be available tonight testing and practicing around 7:30pm - 10:30pm EST.

Also, I'll be switching vehicles to the Honda NSX (Sponsor: Castrol/Mugen, Number:10) and racing along with @Wilo28 as a Team. *no Team name yet*

Yep, that is the reason weekdays are so hard to get drivers. Lol Wednesdays seemed to always work rather well but all other days are up in the air.
And yes, very much agree on the part with kids. I am a single dad so my only gaming time is at night. I joined a miata leagues set to race on sundays but they had race start time at 1pm central time. That is pretty much a guarantee for anyone who has a kid or at least likes to go outside the house every now and then. Hahaha.

That is why I appreciate the slightly later start time now. I only get to do personal stuff at night after kid goes to bed. Which includes gaming.

There are a lot of great drivers here that I like to race with but the fact of the matter is I work nights (except for Monday) and I also have young kids and a wife so I just can't accommodate everyone. Wish I could. I reserve weekends during the day to spend time with them. I did a Saturday series and it was awful for family time on the weekends. I can't do it again.

I will join in your test session.

I will update your car choice and number. Two Pro Am drivers cannot form a Team. It must be a Pro with a Pro Am. You don't have to be in the same make/model of car as your teammate.

Does anyone want to make a team now that the classification is done?

I should be able to make all except 1 of the points races and I’ll miss the special event due to personal and work travel.

There is now a "Team Standings" Sheet that I will update. So far, there is only one team that has confirmed their status. Let's see if more get formed between now and Race Day!:gtpflag:

Other than the fact I will most likely miss the qualifying sessions. I can be able to race now! (If my night class keeps getting let out before 9 PM)

Please re-read Quali and Start procedures. Times and Format have changed (for the better):

  • Day - Monday Nights at 9:00pm EST
  • Practice: Practice Lobby opens at 8:30 pm EST
  • Qualifying: Qualifying starts at 9:00 pm EST - 20 minute session
  • Race: There will be a 5 minute break between Qualifying and the Race Start. All drivers must remain on track so times do not reset and the host can set the grid.
  • All races will be held in a Friends Only Lobby hosted by PSN ID = GentelmanRacing, unless otherwise specified.
  • Race starts will utilize a rolling start, however, lap 1 will be a FORMATION LAP. Vehicles are to maintain a safe distance to the vehicle in front. Weaving for the purpose of tire warming is permitted only in sectors 1 and 2 of the circuit. It is strictly prohibited in the final sector. Upon nearing completion of the formation lap drivers will form up the grid by filing into two rows based on starting position. The driver in Pole position has the choice as to what side of the Circuit they want to occupy at the start. At the conclusion of the formation lap, the driver on Pole will start the race upon approaching start/finish.

Were would one turn to for help and coaching with there driving? I feel I severely struggle with consistency.
I can get in a lobby with you and help you out. Let me know you're availability. It would be good to be in Party Chat as well.

I'm in the same boat, my lap times are all over the place and it doesn't help that I'm still learning the tracks on GTS. You can search YouTube for lap guides for specific tracks, there's lots of GTS specific track guides on there. If you're looking for general race craft, Driver 61 on YouTube has a lot of got videos. And of course there's always books. I'm currently reading Speed Secrets by Ross Bentley, it's available on Kindle if you're into that.

One thing that's helped me is repeating the mantra "Slow is smooth. Smooth is fast." to myself while I'm driving.

Good luck and congrats on the baby boy!

Thanks I will look into those things. I have read a few things already that helped alot. I've set some pretty lofty goals for myself and I always see them through. Today I mounted the TV to my homemade rig to try and improve my fov. This helped substantially but it's not enough. I still need a more comfortable racing seat and a better seating position but I'm already improving on all my previous ds4 records not even 2 weeks in to using the new wheel set up. Its definitely far more immersive.

One thing that always helps me is just doing full fuel runs for practice. It is a bit settling into both the mindset that a small mistake is okay and not every lap need be a fast one. Also I think driving on worn tires is also helpful to some extent.

The other thing that has helped me a lot with consistency is really trying to define my braking points on a track early in practice and then “fine tuning” them one at a time but only working on 1-2 corners a lap.

I did a lot of online racing back in gt6 and then took 4+ years off to focus on my career. This is my second season of racing in gt sport and the above helped me a lot with being fast in gt6 and I feel they are doing a lot in helping me get back up to speed so to say in gts.
