Curious as to why I'm grouped in crystal when I have over 40 starts in the former ARS League.
Or is crystal just counting the races that are run under the IRS banner and the other three tiers are counting all starts between the ARS League?
I'm also curious about the criteria for each rank.
So, to answer your questions. The IRS is more or less a fresh start for everyone, including myself. Everyone started at 0 once the IRS was announced, and since then quite a few drivers have gotten in the minimum number of races needed to get an official ranking. Honestly another reason for this is I do not have access to all the data from the ARS and I do not want to skew the results.I share the same questions. I believe that previous starts should carry over and drivers be ranked as such, especially since the ‘past series’ are in the OP. How can all of those people have wins and championships and all of a sudden are a rookie all over again?
As for the criteria. Everyone starts out in the Crystal Rank. Once you make 5 total starts (subject to change) you will be given an official rank. The other 3 rankings (Amethyst, Ruby, and Emerald) are based on start positions and finish positions in every race. It also takes into account the total number of drivers in a race and adjusts accordingly (ex: 8th out of 16 is roughly as good as 6th out of 12). It's not perfect, but it's a work in progress and it's looking good so far. Lastly, Emerald is the highest ranking group and Amethyst is the lowest.
