IRS | Toyota 86 Racing Series | Mondays 9p EST | BIG FINALE TONIGHT: Dragon Trail - Seaside II

I personally really like the heavy damage. It can be incredibly frustrating, but it adds to the experience in my opinion.

I also like multi-class races, but I don’t think we could safely run events like that on shorter tracks.

Also longer races where pits are required with multiple tire options would be a plus for me!
For now we will continue with heavy damage but if enough people voice their concern with it we should look into our options.

A special event would be in between seasons or if someone chooses to use their week's prize selection. If anyone has an idea for a special event they would like to run with the 86 GRMN they can post it here and we can all work together to make it something great. The only reason I brought up the Gr. 4 car is because I want to keep with the Toyota 86 car model. We can try testing the GRMN with increased power to see how that drives too. I personally prefer one tire compound to maintain a spec setting. It's great to see what others can do with the same tools. Nothing is off the table though so if someone wants to change that up I won't stop them. It's their special event to set up. 👍

I'm posting this again for @damonc84 as it got lost on the last page. IRS is gearing up to launch their next two series and they look to be a nice change of pace. Literally

"With blessings from @DesertPenguin , I was asked to post a series I will hosting on Friday nights starting on the 22nd with @aceboy127 's league. Click on the image and it should bring you to the thread here on :gtplanet:.

Series Announcement

I have decided to get the ball rolling on a special endurance event to close out the season. That means that this season will have five weeks instead of the usual four. Here's what I know for sure:

-Two (2) 40 minute races (set by laps), qualifying for race 1 and second race is reverse grid
-Track is La Sarthe, St. Croix A/B/C/, or Nordschleife. Our normal setup would make these 2-4 lap races and that's not really a race
-Double points finish for big pressure
-I'd like to keep tire wear the same as it is now for consistency. On the other hand, should we use increased tire wear to force the pit stop? We would have at most four weeks to practice those tire settings so it's not like they'd be completely foreign but certainly not the norm.
-I'd like to change fuel wear to be an issue and force a mandatory pit stop window with mandatory tire change. We can't set it up in game but if we organize it here and watch the replay to make sure everyone pits during the window then we'll be just fine.

That's pretty much it. Please let me know what you guys think about this setup and what if anything you'd be interested in doing differently. Let your voices be heard. Lend me your thoughts. This is an open discussion. I'd like to have something finalized by next Wednesday to give a full four weeks of practice but it's not a requirement. What do you all want to do?

I have tomorrow available if you or anyone else wants to get on track and see how these tracks work when driving around others.

Edit: I'm not a big fan of changing tire wear settings since everyone is used to it on x1 and not being an issue. I have no idea how they feel after 40 minutes but I doubt it will be awful. I keep it low so you can keep racing even after one too many slides, but part of endurance racing is, well, enduring. If nothing else it's simply fighting time itself and the wearing down of stamina. Is that enough or do you want to try something more?

Here is our schedule for Season 5. I'm watching the Gentleman Driver documentary on Netflix but when it's done I'll put in some times for Nurburgring GP. Probably 08:00, something during the day, then the second to last time with the sun low but not down. It's a good documentary and anyone interested in motorsports should check it out.

Season 5:
Week 1 - Feb. 20:
Nurburgring GP.........................................Race Times: TBD
Week 2 - Feb. 27: Lago Maggiore - West..............................Race Times: 06:10 | 18:15 | 21:00
Week 3 - Mar. 6: Circuit de Barcelona Catalunya.................Race Times: 08:00 | 12:00 | 15:00
Week 4 - Mar. 13: Dragon Trail - Seaside..............................Race Times: 08:00 | 10:00 | 16:30
Week 5 - Mar. 20: Special Event (Double Points)...................Race Time: TBD

Edit: I updated some formatting in the first post to make some things easier to read. I also included a proper qualifying procedure and special events bullet point for anyone interested. Lastly, I moved the livery guidelines further down so the race format is higher up and the first thing new readers will see. They'll want to know what we do before even caring about what the livery should be.

Series Announcement: Track Limits/Attendance Confirmation

@WhiteFlight1 @whiteusagi @jayr1399 @hirnsauger69 @Infineon @Thanksteeds @Cnastynikka @MaiCoh @Frozone44 @Drtecdru @Alan_2134 @rap @AngryEater @damonc84

Nurburgring GP has one part of the track that needs clarifying. For Turn 4, the white lines are track limits. I was made aware that Sport Mode and FIA Races allow you to go much wider there with no penalty and that's clearly wrong. White lines and red/white rumble strips are track boundaries as always.

This post is also to tag everyone for Wednesday night's Season 5 opener at Nurburgring GP. A reminder that this week is a proper qualifying session so get in the lobby right away to maximize your track time. I posted a proper qualifying format in the first post to help make things that little bit smoother. I will open the lobby a little before 9pm so the early birds get a full session. Good luck!

Hi I’m new to this site (gt planet) and to user leagues......I’d like to join your season 5 series....are you still driver spots available?????? And what do I need to join
Welcome to GTPlanet! Yes, we have room for more drivers. All you really need to do is make a livery with the required decals/placement and show up on race day to race clean and fair. Everything you will need to know about is in the first posts of this thread. There are some grey bars that say Spoilers on them. Clicking that will make them expand and show the full info contained inside. It's like a sub-folder to keep things organized. You'll find everyone here is very helpful so feel free to voice any questions or concerns you have and we will address them. We look forward to seeing you on track! 👍

If I may ask, what brought you to this racing series?

I got hooked on gtsport since January.....I know I got in really late in the game ......it’s the first time I’ve experienced online multiplayer racing.....it’s pretty fun .....so after bout 2 months of just playing the daily online matches....on the online sport section of GT Sport I figured I’d like to see if there’s user leagues out there......after some searches it brought me here.....I was checking out the irs main hub and it looks pretty cool what you guys are doing...it be neat to be a part of it

You definitely came to the right place. GTPlanet is the largest online community for the GT games and there's a huge following for all other racing games in general even down to the Need For Speed type stuff. The IRS is officially @aceboy127's baby but this series is born from myself and originally another user on here named @Rinsky. At the moment we have two upcoming series for Friday and Saturday nights at the same time, 9pm, and I have links to those threads in my signature (the bit right below my post here). Sorry, I'm assuming you're new to forums in general but let me know cuz we can help you with all of it. There's so much to race on here if you have the time for it all!
