Is Forza 4 good enough to justify buying a XBOX?

Sadly I did Just that and ( bought a PS3 just for GT5) it was easily one of the worst purchases I have ever made.

The car sounds in GT5 are just wrong for some of the cars ( best example the NASCARs). And you have to unlock car damage..... I'd play Forza 3 any day over GT5, yes Forza 3.

I got to believe you never gave GT5 a chance or played it with a wheel. Too good to ignore, but your unlocking damage comment gets my vote for best joke in this thread.

Race Pro is the console version of Race 07. I still suggest of you already have an Xbox, get a PC. Like I said eariler it doesnt have to be top of the line for the older sims and even iRacing. The selection of sims is great.
Yea,,only thing holding me back is being pc challenged. I dont know half the termonology. Unlike anything else in life, they (sim devs) just take it for granted.

I feel like I am really missing out because I have great multi- platform equipment, and I am only interested in racing genres. It is just intimidating to me.

Anybody..... what would you reccommend for a noobie? Is r Factor, not the new beta ok? I checked my pc on this site, and it came back as passed, but a little short on reccommended CPU

I gave GT5 almost 2 months. I played it with a DFGT, and the GT2. I still think its the worst GT to date, and a sad excuse for a race game.

And you have to admit someone new to GT5 would be confused about the damage. Its pretty weak and running into a wall at 100mph doesnt really look like it in the game...hence why people think it must be unlocked later in the game.

Had to throw my 2 cents in, I'm a veteran GT player, using a wheel, and I shelled out for the Xbox AND new flatscreen solely to play Forza 4, and to be more specific, to race the Road Atlanta course. Of course, now I'm saving for a Fanatec wheel and stand, I just can't stand playing with controllers of any sort (same with GT5, using a DFGT with it, but there doesn't seem to be a comparably priced wheel for Xbox). I'm learning more about Forza every day, and I'm not going to start anything by going into perceived pros and cons, but I can definitely say that if you are using a wheel with GT5 plan on doing the same with Forza, otherwise I'm sure you will be disappointed.

I have been an avid and long time Sony supporter ever since the first Playstation was released. The first game I played on that system was Rally Cross. My brother and I had many countless hours racing around with that game.

Ever since that first Sony console graced my eager young eyes, I was hooked. The original Xbox was just a copycat system to me. Gran Turismo and its sequels were also a contributing factor into my somewhat religiously close minded Playstation obsession. With all the hours and days and weeks I spent with the GT games over the years, I could have studied 50 different languages, became and astrophysicist, and even had time left over to pen a series of science fiction novels involving an absent minded egotistical scientist who inadvertently created a horrific, uncontrollable, and artificial knowledge gathering intelligent robotic entity which caused the destruction of mankind by rebelling against its creator, manipulating all the world’s technologically connected systems against the human race...

Point is, I was a narrow minded Sony fanboy, basically...

But then I received my copy of Gran Turismo 5 from Santa in 2010, and although I quite enjoyed it and admired the level of detail in the 15% of cars that actually had detail in them, something just felt missing from the experience. Something that made me question my beliefs as a fan of Sony and the GT series.

No way, I thought to myself. Somebody must have slipped something into my coffee cup at work today, because a strange and inconceivable idea popped into my brain. Could that other system which must not be named actually be worth it? Could any fun and enjoyment stem from something which has so long been pushed into my mind's equivalent of a garbage compactor?

Upon searching Youtube for some early gameplay and demo footage, Forza 4 became the final piece of the puzzle. I purchased my first Xbox 360 250GB Slim Holiday Bundle which included Fable III and Halo Reach, as well as 3 months free Xbox Live Gold Membership. Forza 4 was a $20 discount holiday sale expense that has definitely proven its worth. My 80GB "Fatboy," Playstation 3 has been slowly collecting the dust that the internal cooling fans of my brand new Xbox have been blowing in its face ever since. Forza 4 has made itself at home inside the warm and cozy Xbox 360 disc tray, and I don't see any mid-winter vacation plans in its near future.

Was the plunge into the Xbox and Forza worlds worth it you ask?

Does a seemingly important yet pointless story resulting in a question like this actually require an answer?

:banghead:Was I bored beyond the limits of the human brain on this Groundhog Day-like Monday, January 16, 2012?:banghead:

I have the opposite Q.......Is it worth the cost of a PS3 for GT5?......seriously.

I did buy the PS3 for GT5 (actually GT5 prologue at the time). Was it worth it? For me, yes. I had already played GT-GT4 on my PS2 and I had a wheel, so it was really easy to justify the purchase. I also use it as a media center (music mostly) and occasionally use the blu-ray and netflix on it. I do play CoD on it and have some friends online that I play against.

If you are not a GT fan and do not have a wheel then I would say don't get the PS3 just for GT5 unless you really have that much money burning hole in your pocket.

Oh, I think I will start looking for a used Xbox 360, I got a subscription to gamefly for Christmas and can use it to check out Forza 4.

If your an average online gamer with the PS3 I think the xbox is money well spent..not just for the Forza game but IMHO M$ does online comunication alot better than Playstation...so you will enjoy COD or any other squad based shooter alot better..

Like many others, I got an Xbox 360 solely for Forza 4. Luckily for me, I got a 250 GB console while it was on a discount, but it still cost a bit more than a 4 GB. In my opinion, if you're getting an Xbox only for Forza, you might as well stick with a 4 GB console, which should get you around nicely. And if you do happen to run out of space, buy a USB stick to store all that extra data.

Personally, I don't play as much as I was expecting, but that's probably only because I don't have XBL or a wheel, both of which I have for GT5.

Unless you want to be able to use all of the cars. 4GB isn't enough to run Forza 4 at it's full potential!

I bought X360 250Gb just for Forza. And of course, no regrets whatsoever. However, sometimes I get curious what other exclusive games does X360 have. Still, only have F4 :)

Don't know if it's worth it for just Forza. But it is a good game. it has a frustration factor to it, just like GT5, but it is good and there's lot's of play hours in it. A combination of the features in both games would make the best racer out there, but oh well. I don't think I would pop for an Xbox without taking advantage of their offerings like Left 4 Dead, Gears of War and Mass Effect. Those are some Xbox exclusives that should not be missed.

Not comparing them, just saying if a great game gets released on a console I don't have that I'd go and get that system just for that game. I'd do the same for forza if I had the ps3 first.

In a word. NO! Servers too thinly populated and inconsistent.
I guess that'd depend on whether online is your focus. I reached level 150 but I've yet to play an online race with the exception of Rivals events.

In my opinion, there are other games Xbox 360 games that are worth it for buying an Xbox, but Forza 4 is getting on my nerves lately and I find myself playing it less and less. Don't get me wrong, it's a great game with a lot of potential, but the glitches and online servers are bugging. So I'd say, unless you plan on also playing other games, don't buy one just for Forza 4. If you already have an Xbox, I'd recommend getting Forza 4 just the same.

I recently got an xbox just for forza 4 and have a ps3 with gt5 and I got to say that i feel that forza is a much better polished off game, i disagree with having standard cars in a generation of HD gaming that really should not be there.

There are good points and bad points in both games but seriously think that forza is better in every way. I have just started playing forza (2nd week) but have been constantly comparing and I have seen enough to know that it is a better game visually, sound and physics. However the bad points in forza are from my point of view is that the fastest drivers all use aids which in my view traction control gives soo much more grip it's like comparing racing soft and racing hard on gt5, In gt5 the fastest drivers all use no aids.

The other bad in forza is that u cannot go on track and go for a free drive in between races and not being able to tweak ur car settings while ur in a lobby.

From my experience on gt5 traction control slows u down but not in forza it makes u faster like i said its like driving on racing hard without traction control and racing soft with it on.

I think forza is an amazing game and wish i could try it on a wheel at the moment i have to resort to pad but not been easy learning a new game without my g25 wheel, i'm looking to sell my wheel and buy a fanatec that works on both then i can really test the physics and feedback from the wheel.

PC's are not gaming consoles if you get a pc then decide you want to play FPS games you will need to spend alot more than you would on an xbox and ps3 put together.
Well... It all depends. If you have most of the peripheral equipment (monitor, speakers, decent mouse and keyboard, operating system etc) already, which most people who've got some sort of desktop PC around do, it's not all that expensive.

If it's just the actual computer you're after, 500 bucks will get you quite far, if you know what you're doing, and you'll usually be able to get most games 10 to 20 bucks cheaper than on a console, which adds up in the long run.

Personally, I still prefer consoles, though. Then again, I don't have most of that peripheral equipment at my disposal, as I'm only owning a laptop, but still

I have a very good gaming system that i bought 4 years ago if i now want to play battlefield 3 on my computer it will cost me a new operating system and a new fast graphics card that will set me back about £400 in the uk. I can buy a new PS3 for £240 with GT5 and a new Xbox with forza 4 for £150 in 3 years time i would need to update the computer again because it will be out of date the xbox will have rrod and the ps3 will have ylod it will be cheaper to replace the games console in my opinion. For the amount of fun i get from my ps3 it has been well worth the expense as it is a multimedia centre as well and as the xbox is relatively cheap the amount of use it will get with Forza 4 it will be worth it as well.

Well, given that I'm usually paying at 15 to 20 bucks more for a game on a console than the PC equivalent and I've gone through, say, 10 to 15 games in the last two years, that alone is enough to to close the gap between a PS3/Xbox360 and a decent gaming PC. Unless you've bought the console at launch, when it was relatively expensive.

Also, as far as multimedia centers go... Well, a PC got more storage room, is compatible with basically every media format on the planet, is able to stream stuff without the usage of things like Netflix, can access internet radio and so and so forth.

Plus, you'll need a PC, anyways. Well, most people do.

If you know what you're doing, a PC is just about the best solution there is. Consoles, though, are the easy and fun way. That's why I prefer them and am willing to pay the price.
