I'm very bipolar in my attitude towards GT6. One minute, (sometimes longer) I'm miffed about not having Course Maker yet, and the next minute I'm blown away by the graphics and attention to detail that this game has. So I'm curious as to see what others think about Gran Turismo 6, and everything surrounding it. Please feel free to elaborate on your vote, and share your thoughts :)

Yes. Simulator? Not so much.

I'm in no position to say whether it's good or not. Have I enjoyed it? Absolutely.

Yes. Even an average GT game is a good overall game. It has a whole heap of problems, but as a form of entertainment, for [whatever-price-it-is-now], you could do substantially worse.

Brilliant game that's had me hooked from day 1.

That little bit of extra work on the physics really paid off in this version and has me really eager to see what they bring with GT7.

In fact, you know you're onto a good game when you regularly enjoying playing it but can't wait to see what they do with the next one. I hope they take as much time as they need to bring out another masterpiece but my pre-order is waiting impatiently.

I guess that means I like it.

In my view it's good value for money and you can get a lot of hours of enjoyment from it, but I also voted Ehh, kinda, because it's also a frustrating game. Frustrating because it could be much better. The offline element is poor, but could be redeemed and playability extended by the addition of an event creator. The car list contains many gems, but often good cars lack natural rivals which makes it harder for Hosts to run interesting online championships. Shuffle racing was good in GT5 for when you wanted a quick online fix, but "Quick Match" is a poor substitute. Hopefully the future will bring a return of shuffle racing together with extra features for Hosts and a better and more carefully structured car list.

In general, it's a good overall game but as an entry in the GT series, it's mediocre.

For A PS3 game, yes; it's the only one I've been able to stay with and enjoy. Online, regardless of faults, is better than anything else I've tried. Offline was for the most part boring and offered little challenge.

Can't compare it with next gen games.

2 years old game and traction control still can not be turn off on gravel and sand, and this automatic clicking throttle when you shift gears down under braking is not very realistic.
In real life this can be done only if the car has drive by wire throttle!
One god only knows what other hidden assistants have GT6
My answer is NO

As an arcade game it's OK, but as a simulator it socks big time. I find it hard to call it a "Racer" persa as there's only 2 car's in a "race" coz the other cars are there to slow "hinder" you, there not there to race you as such.

Saying that there's no other grownups racing game on the ps3, so what choice have we got but to play it. I've only recently come to ps3 from pc after more then a few years away from consol gaming. Disappointed big time.

where's the No! It's an awesome game! option? It isn't everything to everybody. But when I play it, it still makes me really happy. after hundreds of hours there still is so much I haven't done with it. I can't imagine getting anything else this good for 60 bucks.

I voted "kinda"

I play it all the time and get tons of use out of it, but we've been treated poorly. That leaves abad taste in my mouth about it.

They took the strategy of doing a Beta Release like a F2P game as an experiment. It's a terrible experiment because we PAID for the F2P game. They threw in buying credits and made the payouts small. It's insulting. Instead of releasing new features and improvements on existing ones, they REMOVED existing ones and reissued them, often scaled back. They haven't really stuck to the idea of constantly improving the game. They just kind of threw it out at us and left it there to rot.

I had a lot of fun in GT6, but not as much as in GT5. Actually, I'm thinking of ditching Project CARS/DRIVECLUB/PS4 & going back to online racing in GT6, so it can't be that bad right!

👍

No, the core of the game is sound. A "Good game" though encompasses so much more though.

I've enjoyed it so far but miss things from gt5
Me too. UCD, course maker, shuffle racing, special events, Top gear test track, better photomode, missing cars like Jensen interceptor and Ginetta, endurance races, better career mode, seasonals pay more money, online car dealer, car museum, 10 daily paintchips, better online layout, different rewards for B spec races, more prizes cars, better license tests, Ferrari f1s, better damage, nicer UI, more competitive AI. so many things that Gt5 had that GT6 doesnt yave.

Ok, I kind of misunderstood this, I thought you ment the extreme smoothness of the downshifts, not the automatic throttle blip.
A DKG/DSG/DCT gearbox can actually do these extremely smooth downshifts, simply because they are pretty much seamless in between gears.

Anyway, I know now you are referring to the fact that without this throttle blip, the rear wheels would lock up.
but in a DKG/DSG/DCT gearbox they dont, simply because they are so smooth, and so fast in the downshifts.

As a matter of fact, most EMT/SCT gearboxes such as SMG/E gear/R tronic etc. actually do this little automatic blip on the throttle to avoid the rears locking up, although it doesn't become as smooth as in the game.

And you know, Nissan has a their SynchroRev Match system (SRM) in the manual versions of the 370Z which matches your revs automatically while downshifting. (you dont need to do heel and toe)

So your claim that this is a unrealistic feature is not true. this kind of system exist, and it's very real indeed.

Coincidentally, the same goes for the active steering, although there are very few cars that support it in real life (the only one I can think of is the latest incarnation of the Porche 911. (the one with electric power steering assist)), and its far less refined. But still, the system exist in real life.

Modern cars, they become more and more boring :grumpy:
And there should be an option to turn off this automatic blip because most of the cars do not have such system.

Its a good game for a certain kind of personality.

I can really see why 'normal' people dont like it. I can also see why it alienates 'traditional' GT fans. I understand why it reviews badly. I also understand why people have sold the game and sold the ps3.

I look at GT in its own microcosm. Same as Forza. Its like comparing a pizza to a hamburger.

Problem is few people have lasted the 2yrs since release and still care about VGTs and the like.

I agree, there's a bunch from gt5 that I wish was in gt6. Maybe it'll be in gt7.
I miss being able to send gifts too, lol

I get where you are coming from. :)
Best thing would be if the cars that support it IRL, support it in the game, and that the cars that dont support it, dont support it in the game either.

I still love it. It is not like some other racing game if you want to race hard with AI (except nascar, karts or RB cars which are very competitive) or want to hear good sounds. But gfx, gameplay, content wise it is great and probably the best game to play
