Is it possible to play GT6 online without doing any updates?

Yea, there's a problem. I assume you're following the method that Cowboy linked to in post #6? Even with my new PS3 with nothing on it, I had issues until I did it that way.
I'm actually doing this on a gen1 ps3, but I'll try that method if this install isn't done by tomorrow. Thx.

Oh boy. Gen 1 of the PS3 not good news. Coupled with your 20Mbs which is very slow speed considering.
Think I mentioned previously I had a Gen 1 50-80GB (Fat type console) and it got bricked trying to update...and I had a much faster download speed than you. Ended up having to buy a brand new slim version, slide top cover PS3 and that's how I eventually ended up updating. Took a while but was successful.

Hope you get through. What I find with the updating though is that although at times it may seem slow or hardly progressing it picks up at some point during updating if that's any consolation.

Hey everyone, it's me, The87Dodge

Just asking if I can play online GT6 with version 1.0, no updates. My PS3 can install six of the 23 updates, but after that it fails. I'm pretty desperate to play GT6 online again. Is this possible? If so, show me how to do this.

Thank you.
There is no way. Even if there was, your game would crash any time anyone whipped out a car or track that doesn't come with the base game as your GT6 copy wouldn't be able to find the necessary resources on disk.

You know what? You were right. I don't know what happened, but suddenly it was done. And it's working fine :D Sweet old GT. Feels good to be back since the golden days of GT3. Thx for trying to help me out.

So glad to hear you got through. Cheers. Patience is virtue.

Just to go enjoy the game now. Go through the career races and tests to progress further and further. It gets better as you progress. Check the group for tips and tunes along the way. That also helps.

Every once in a while when I know I'll be gone for a few hours I'll start the updates and hope it knocks a few out. My internet is not much better than dial up and I'm running my PS3 through WiFi. I don't care about racing online. Just want more cars to play with. Lol

My heart goes out to you. (wipes a tear)
