Is my car a bad choice?

lol I don't intentionally time them man, its just that I drift online on GT5 all day long everyday, so I know what my car is capable of:sly:. Honestly I remember that time because it was a hella hard battle (extremely hard) against another member of my team Big Trix (u may have seen his name in seasonal drift events). It was so close my eyes started watering mid lap because I couldn't blink and they stayed that way til i crossed the finish line.

Im not american bro, I'm from New Zealand. I guess you won't get what I'm talking about until you try it yourself.

^^trust me, my good man, in a drifting forum you're referring to lap times, finish lines, and top names in seasonal drifting events....I shudder because I know exactly what you're talking about...its the same mentality behind everyone having lsx swaps, monster energy sponsorship, and DC fitteds turned to the side as we work our way towards perfecting 150 mph entry speeds in tube framed chassis'...it is refreshing, however, that kiwis and yankees seem to follow the same trends....please believe, I mean no disrespect, its just that I equate this "high level drifting" to Shaquille O'Neal's basketball skills, dominant on the boards due to his size, but sorely lacking when it comes to exercising the fundamentals..

To tell you the truth m8 you wont find many CH comp's where there going to allow 600 & 700 BHP cars it's usually limited down to 500BHP but as for the car your using its fine just tweak the tranny a bit and drop it to 500BHP when using CH's max you need is 560BHP anything else and your just spining tires

(example- I use a Ford GT with 500BHP)

Wise lines.

are you online now? maybe you can show me areas im lacking in? I'll be on all day so when youre ready holla and we can settle this. bring your fan club too.

A.) There is no fan club, only those who understand what I mean by what I say.
B.) There is nothing to settle, you prefer high power cars and "high level " drifting, and feel anyone that uses 250-500 hp cars exclusively as lazy and gutless...that may raise an eyebrow of mine, but there's nothing to settle, you've alrdy seen to that...
C.) Believe it or not, I truly meant what I said, I meant no disrespect..I simply feel that when someone prefers to use high hp cars in drift comps, that it is their right to go as fast as they want against a similar opponent, but it should also be their responsibility to restrain the hp they have on tap to actually match their "lazy and gutless" opponent, instead of simply waiting to pass or racing to the finish line...
D.) And finally to keep things on topic, in response to the OP, no it is not a bad car choice, provided you're willing to dynamically tune it, or be extra respectful w/ your right foot..
And if I happen to see you online I'll gladly drift w/ you, I'm always looking to improve on my drift techniques, and having the opportunity to face varied opponents is a fun part of the process

Doesn't matter your car just drift everything to slow you down more. I'm always either keeping up or behind everyone else since they all use sports tires and low powered cars for some reason while I'm in a good car with comfort hard. If your too fast and am trying to match someone don't press the gas as hard and you won't go as fast lol pretty simple

Haha can't mess with megamarcx

Id say drift either the 370z or the aspara rx7 that can can be found in the cd in re ameiya i always like driftin wit jdm but. Im thinkin of tryin the mercedes u were talkin bout but yea id say the mercedes is pretty good

Hows it guys.

OK. My best drift car is the standard model "SLR McLaren 03". when i started drifting I learnt on the ford cobra 1st, then rx7 spirit r and then I moved to drifting everything that can once i got the hang of tuning. I brought the SLR from online dealership and decided to try it to deal with viper and ferarri drifters online that kept smoking my used to be favourite rx7. It worked but it worked to well.

The car is stock power wise @616bhp and weighs 1348kg. I only do CH tyres and FR rooms. Im always getting guys hassling me about my car preference. Saying that im too fast. In a D1 comp I'm going to bring my best drifter and if you cant keep up with it, you need to upgrade your pace right? Keep in mind Im getting the same angle just alot faster.

As long as you can control it then its good bro, if you ever see the flashing lambo's drift race em and watch there moves and beat them.

Anyway I've gone and brought a capture card so I can upload all the replays I have of EXTEME level drifters doing 1:39(tandem with big trix) laps around deep forest just to prove to people who only drift lower level cars that there is a level of drifting above 500bhp.

BTW I just checked and the 1:39 lap was in my rx7 not SLR. Drifting the whole lap and only stopping on the straight. I've been drifting in it after starting this thread and rediscovering the love I once had for this ride. lol good days

I mean when I was only drifting my rx7, I didn't complain to the ferarris about their speed, I just went and taught myself to drift at a higher speed because "I" got pissed that I couldn't catch them. I reckon that most drifters have not progressed far enough skill wise to take my drift seriously.

Only an Rx7? The Rx7 in itself is an overly quick car, in fact it's one of the quickest drifting around a corner. Hence why you could keep up You shouldn't have had to ''teach'' yourself to keep up.

well you could get one yourself:idea:

Enough of this talking. IM DIFTING ON GT5 ALL DAY EVEYDAY if you think you disagree come and show me. pretty words mean nothing to me.the rx7 is not a fast car in my garage anyway (it used to be my best for a long time), now I drift everything on anything but CH & FR is my preferred. I've already detuned my merc to 540bhp on one of my settings sheets for D1 battles. See you around

Klevrah, you online?
You say you are pretty quick?
Well, I don't doubt it.
But, one thing I want to see,
How will my FC compare

I sooo want to DIFT w/ you now...but only if you promise that you talk/post comments exactly how you do here in GTP...If you can assure me that an online DIFT session w/ you is as entertaining as EVEYTIME you post, I'll be on after 7pm US EST...please FR me...lol

lol Megan, he's really not that bad, I just finished driving with him for a couple minutes.

Except after one hundred disconnects I just gave up on it for today.

In regards to the original post :
After driving with him, it's clear, Klevrahs FD is just as slow as any RX-7. There's no such thing as magic or miracles, either of which would be required to bring an RX-7 onto par with big ass beasts like ferraris vipers etc.
It's that simple.
I only got to see one corner from the SLR before being disconnected but I could tell immediately it was leagues beyond what my 275HP FC could ever compete with, even if I did unrestrict the engine. He'd have to be using seriously inferior tires to mine for it to even resemble a battle, and even then I'd say it's a long shot.

having said that . . . Klevrah, you MAY bring your best car to a drift battle but I'd suggest to also have a back up plan just in case there is a horse power or performance points limit.

All in all, I can give it my best in my FC but I found out that a guy really CAN drift faster, with a faster car =S Who knew.

( I was always under the impression that as long as everyone be using the same tires, then horsepower was irrelevant )

well im still online bro, add me and lets do it
BTW on the lookout for other fast drifters out there come have a blast against the SLR from New Zealand.

yeah man great drifting with ya (besides the network karking it). Look forward to when you find your high horse beast, bring it against the SLR when u do.👍

You'll have silver hair before then, mate!
I've opened the FC up to about 330 or so, I thought it was junk.
Usually I like somewhere around 240-260, that's where my car is 450pp

270-290 is about as high as I like to set it before it starts to feel goofy.
For example, the HKS hyper genki silvia, YEAH it's fun, but you press the gas and the thing rotates like some cheesy arcade drifting game . . . not my idea of 'awesome'

The only time I really even LIKE having the FC up at around 300 horse is when I'm cruising next to some decent drivers, usually people who are on teams. These people usually drive faster cars than mine anyway so I increase the horsepower out of courtesy so they don't have to piss around sliding back and forth on the straights lol, I saw you doing that with your FD ;P

I have an FD . . . a couple actually. I got one all maxed out and everything, no idea what I'm supposed to do with that, waste of time really - the thing goes like 375kmph, what AM I supposed to do with that? LOL

I got another one tuned to 500PP and it just doesn't feel as good as my FC, it feels like it has way less traction and I can't lower the spring rates anywhere near as low as FC, if I recall FD springs only go down to like 5 or 6 ?

I suppose I could always just put some sports hard on the rear and see where that gets me . . . if I left comfort medium on the front I wouldn't have to countersteer on the small corners but the big corners would kill me understeering.

Perhaps I will experiment with some big-ass-sleds when I get on later tonight . . . couple ideas floating around already: like that huge orange slab I've seen mopar drive, or maybe I'll actually go test what a viper is even like? . . . neon green murceilago?
or whip through a couple seasonals and get that 20 000 000 credit ferrari . . . .

the setup for my fd is in the settings depot for "wheels".have a go of it see what you think of my tune (504bhp)👍. i think max speed is @ 316kmh but you'll never get to that speed unless you aint drifting lol.

MyFC
lol Megan, he's really not that bad

Thou shalt never referest to me as "Megan"..."Mega", "Marc","Megamarc","Marcus" are all acceptable..lol..I believe we had this discussion online, everyone on GT5 is by default a guy until they specify otherwise(untill you see a convertible Eclipse drive by...lol)

Except I can't hardly hear ANYTHING you guys say, it all sounds like Charlie Brown's teacher ! ! !

I even turned the music off and turned the SFX down to 50 and all I hear is
"Womp Womp Womp FC Womp Womp So amazing Womp Womp Womp Must be a god Womp Womp Womp Womp "

=p
