Is only 1 fan good for ur comp?

I was wondering if only 1 case fan was healthy for ur comp.. I bought a vantec tornado 80mm case fan as an intake, Im afraid i might damage something because theres an uneven amount of cooling.
I am going to use the fan as an intake, are there any chances of any cooling problems or overheating because i dont have an exhaust fan?

The temperature of your system is directly related to the temperature inside your case. Seeing as the temperature inside your case will never be below ambient temperature then that means your system temp is related to ambient temperature. But, if you can get air flowing through your case then any hot air that is generated by your system can be moved out and colder ambient temperature air can be brought it.

Running one fan will be a lot better then the 0 that you have now, but in the long run you'll want to get an exhaust fan to get the hot air out.

In my system I have 2 80mm fans, intake/exhaust and one 120mm intake fan. I hardly have the 120 running because it makes quite a lot of noise even when at idle.

You might wanna get some ear plugs if you're going to run that Tornado at full speed though, thats why I like my fan controller :D.

in my system, i have the fan on my power supply, the one on my processor and the one for my graphic board. It runs perfectly and I've managed to keep the internal temperature ice cold simply by using high quality heat sinks for my radeon and my cpu.

btw, i use only ultra-low rpm silenced equipment for my pc now - so big heat sinks are a must for that to work right.

If you're looking to buy another 80mm Vantec Tornado for an Exhaust, I have one For Sale in the box that was used for about 10 min.

I have the high-output silver Vantec 4 fan/fan controller that is made specifically for the Tornado series fans For Sale also. It too is in the package and about 10 min. old.

Pm me for prices.

Oh come on.... You're exaggerating just a bit. I run my Tornado at it's full 5400 rpms when I play games and it isn't that loud. Sure, when you first hear it, it will seem loud but you get used to it. As you say though, a fan controller is a must with the Tornado.

4 Fans, 8000RPM with a peltier cooler for my video card and processor. (5 including the power supply) plus the onboard heatsink, and an added heatsink for the video card.

I can form ice in my case if I am not careful

lets see here. One intake fan on the side of my case blowing directly on the board, processor fan, ps fan, graphics card fan. 2 exhaust fans in the rear, one exhaust fan on the top, and i still have a space open in the front for an 80 or 120mm fan. i think im gonna get a 120 to use an intake in the front, so it can blow on my hard drive, cuz thats where its sitting.

I have a server at work that has been running without fans for over two years. Even the power supply fan is dead. I was really stunned when I found it this way, and had good intentions to fix it. But weeks went by with no hardware failure so I let it go. Later I realized the processor fan was dead too. Oh well, life goes on.

on one of my REAL old computers, the processor fan started crappin out...so on really hot days i had to put a regular oscillating fan in front of the case to get some air flow in there or else my computer would freeze up...haha

Wouldn't you smelled anything burning if all the fans had failed:confused:

The fan should have a double ended plug so plug one end into a hd or cd. Then plug the main cable that is comming from your psu into the other end.

I have 1 exhaust fan that is built into the case. Other than that, i have a ThermalTake Volcano 11+ Heatsink and fan for my cpu, and i have the stock fan (no heatsink, i dont think) on teh video card. Its a 128mb Radeon 9100.

I've been having lots of problems with crashing, but my computer has never gone above 41-42º C. I lose all video, my computer doesnt respond, and the lights come on for just about every drive, including the hard drive light.

Do i need an intake fan, or do i need another exhaust fan, and is my crashing related to overheating problems (of the video card, most likely)?

Thanks guys.

monster7 i sent u a pm..

Is it a three pin connector with a yellow wire? You would plug that into the spot where your stock fan's three pin connector went. It only allows you to monitor the fan's speed though.

That is only if you are using it as a cpu fan though. Otherwise, you don't need it unless you want to monitor the fan speed.

because it probably doesn't fit the rig in which case it would be smarter to get a smaller one or one that does fit the diameter hole on his rig.

no its 80mm but its a screwless mounting kit, the vantec is way too thick to fit into the little mounting thing that came with my intake.. besides, there are no slots to screw it into
