Is the SR Fix already in the game, but not enabled?

Firstly I apologise for yet another SR thread.

However, my DS4 connected while I was playing yesterday and whilst I scrambled around to find the charging lead the game effectively paused and went into auto-drive. In red lettering, a message flashed up on the screen saying I would be disqualified due to penalties incurred. When I connected my lead and unpaused the game carried on as normal.

I have been thinking that the way to manage SR would be to have a limit on the amount of time penalty you could complete a lap with i.e. if you have more than 8 seconds you get a DQ, forcing you to reduce penalties prior to crossing the line so you have to actually slow down there and then rather than run down the penalty during the race. This would immediately stop the repeat ramming, corner cutting etc (The game also obviously counts actual SR points during the race so could equally effectively use this to DQ people) as you couldn't do more than one lap of it without compromising your race massively.

I am now wondering whether the message above I saw in game is effectively this but it just isn't activated yet and the time limit for penalties hasn't been decided.

I think it's a 30second timer where you can't accrue more than 30 before you get the DQ. I think it is already active but I'm not sure as I never let it get that far.

That was already in, if you leave it on pause too long it will kick you out. Also when you stop and sit around it will kick you after a while, yet since it gives ample warning anyone wanting to abuse the system can simply speed up again and then wait again for the pack to come around. Maybe it's tightened up now?

I've been kicked before after forgetting the race I entered while doing something else in between, so you definitely get thrown out for being idle too long.

As for getting too many penalties, good idea, after they fix the way penalties are assigned. Getting bumped into a car that goes into a wall should not give me the 10s penalty, nor getting punted into a shortcut should not give me a huge penalty, or passing a ghosted stationary car under yellow, etc.

So if you rack up 30 seconds it kicks you?

Supposedly, like said I have never run the timer out but others seem to have the same experience where they pause to go do something and they are kicked before they get back

Has anyone tested what happens if you get three 10 second penalties then.

It's been in since the start, and I've had numerous races where I've accumulated over a minute of penalties (through shortcuts and wall hits, I should add), triggered the countdown and then been disqualified due to having too much penalty time (a minute) remaining.

I had the pausing warning during quali for the nations cup on Sunday. Not enough time left on the clock for another lap so I pushed pause and went to the loo.

Came back to the shock of an impending DQ (lucky I had just been to the toilet) and was able to resume in time..... Is there any way of having a wee break without returning to the pit?

Just pull over, off the track, and put the handbrake on I guess.

Have you got any video of this please?

So could this be as simple as PD enabling an X second limit and boom, we're getting some clean-up?

I think you can accrue 59 seconds of penalty time. If you get 60 seconds, you’ll get the red warning saying you’ll be disqualified for ignoring penalties. You have 15 seconds to comply. Once your penalty total is below 60 seconds, the warning will go away.

Fingers crossed they make it 10 seconds ASAP.
