Went and got myself a DFGT today with my Christmas bonus money. Borrowed a cockpit (sort of) from a co-worker and got it set up tonight. Quick and easy but it works.

Just ordered my DFGT today! Best Buy had it for $70 off on their website. I was sold. Congrats on yours! I'm debating if I should make my own stand or get the wheel stand pro (yikes...$200 incl. tax for my canadian purchase)....the wheel itself was only $100!

I've been wanting to get one of those for quite a while now.. I think I'm selling a couple of games to get enough money to buy this! :D

They have DFGT's refurbished on ebay for 65-75$ right now, and the shipping is 20$. 805$ for a DFGT seems like a good deal to me. I'm going to order one for my son either tonight or tomorrow. I got him a ps2 and some racing games for christmas and the DFGT would finish it off. Not bad for a 3 year old. It's going to be hilarious watching him play his racing games with his little setup.
I think they come with a 30 day warranty.

I dont even want to know what a bad deal is to you. LOL :sly:

man, I can't believe you went to the darkside. LOL. Well, it ain't no thang cause I was just about to purchase one too. Ha. Just wish I could find a deal like your two did.

^^^ I'm still getting used to it. If I just drive the car around the track, it feels pretty good. But when I start pushing it, I start spinning out and get frustrated. Been playing a lot of Prologue lately and discovered how fun Dirt2 is with the wheel last night, so been playing that as well.

Isn't it just? Surprisingly responsive and crisp. Codemasters are finally back to their good old selves, after that dreadful trip to vague floatiness in DiRT 1 and GRiD.

Tip: Lower environmental effects in the FFB down to 20% - that means you can still feel all that fake surface effects stuff, but it's not in the way of the real feedback. In my opinion it's a much better FFB result.

I'm gonna have to take the wheel back tomorrow and exchange it. When you turn it hard to one direction it gets stuck there, so that the wheel's "center" is off to the right. (car going straight you're turning to the right)

Edit: If you quit the game so the wheel re-calibrates, it'll fix itself.

I think in my mind when I typed that I put 80 and 5 as 2 numbers instead of 85. I think christmas was starting to get the best of me.

Yeah, I saw that on ebay, just kinda leary of it. I think I'd rather spend 100 at gamestop or bestbuy and know I have the year warranty.

Well, I went out and picked up a DFGT today and I'll be the first to say there is definitely a learning curve on GT. After all day I'm still a second off my fastest time that I set with a DS. Also, R1600, I was curious why your always playing Dirt 2 instead of GT. After getting a wheel, the Dirt 2 demo I have is freaking amazing. I see why you play it all the time. I'm definitely going to go buy that game now. That is sooo much more fun with a wheel.

Dirt2 is fun with the wheel, for sure. Been playing alot of Prologue with it lately and having a blast. Not so much with the GT5 demo though...

The cheapest I have seen one at gamestop or best buy is 120$ and it was an opened box wheel. Every other time they have been 150$ when I've been to the stores. I'm getting it for my 3 year old and there is no way he needs a 150$ wheel. I'm probably going to risk it and go with the ebay deal, or look for a used DFP somewhere.

I bought one under two weeks ago and it's already started developing problems. left paddle shift doesn't work sometimes, as you can imagine, this is very frustrating when dropping a gear when approaching a corner. Right directional on the D-pad has more of less stopped working.Couple of other small niggles as well.

Still it's a thing of beauty when it works though, so immersive, makes the whole game a much friendlier experience for a noob like me. Hopefully have time to take it back before the new year.

Dude, It's new at Amazon.com for $110 with free shipping to the U.S, check it out here 👍.

Mine was on sale ( I think) at GameStop for $99.99. I've noticed that mine gets a bit off center after playing for a while, or after playing DiRT2 for a bit. I usually have to quit the game and re-enter, so it re-calibrates and fixes itself.

Are we talking 1-2 degrees off-center, or are we talking 10-20 degrees?

I'm not sure about the former (my own DFGT seems to have decided to center itself 1 degrees off left after about 6 months of use, but it's bearable).
If we're talking serious off centering, it really shouldn't. You should get it replaced while it's still under warranty.

You can also just pull out the usb plug wich goos from your ps3 to your wheel...when you reconnect it does the same,so no need to quit the game and restart...:)

spy.

When my friend was playing Dirt2 the other night it was way off, but he was being a bit nasty with it. I was playing prologue last night and it got about 5 degrees off center. Probably just from semi-fast counter steering with the Mines Skyline to keep it in line. Seems when you jerk it in one direction a few times it likes to stick there.

Hey, when your GT calibrates for Dirt2 does it come back to center or off to the left a bunch? Mine's to the left. But, so far on the TT I've only been able to get within a second of my fastest time that I set with my DS3. It's not a good platform to learn how to use a wheel on. Very frustrating. I've been playing Prologue a lot too with it. And Prostreet. I have to give NFS one thing. When you lose traction you can feel it in the wheel. It gets real easy to turn all of a sudden. It's nice to have.
I picked up my DFGT at Best Buy. BB wanted 150 for it but on their website it was listed for 135 so that's what I got it for.

Pretty sure it calibrates to center. I was playing DiRT2 tonight and didn't have any issues.

Totally agree. I'm exactly the same as you, can only get around a second slower than my controller time then start spinning all over the place.

Prologue is the same way. During power over-steer, when you counter-steer the wheel get's "lighter". At least that's what I noticed while driving the Mines Skyline.

Did you try GameStop? Maybe I got it on sale just before they hiked the price back up. Just checked their website again, and it's back up to $129.99. Bummer.

yeah, I tried all three Gamestop's in my town and none of them had a DFGT. Best Buy had 3 of them, 2 G27's, and 5 of the wireless wheels. And I figured for 5 dollars I'd rather not wait.

Also, on a greater note, the Dirt 2 I had been playing was just the demo and I went out and picked up the full game today at gamestop. So it looks like I'll be countersteering into the New Year!!! :D

Although I did dust off GT4 last night at hit up some of the rally courses in it and they were damn fun. Just not as scary as the Dirt 2 demo. GT4 is a whole lot more fun though with a steering wheel. But, I stay on the edge of my seat from all the near telephone, rock, and tree misses at 90 mph in Dirt2. GT you just hit the wall and keep going. Dirt2 you hit and do forty flips hoping you land on your tires. I keep feeling like Pastrana and asking everybody in the room if they're alive and then saying "Let's do that again!!!" LOL

DiRT 2 is a tremendous amount of fun with a wheel 👍
Can I add you so we can race sometime?
