You guys realize that without the original review bombing, we'd still be stuck with a 1.07 style grind right? The same bloody race to get a measly amount of credits?
I mean, at least there's the AFK godsend, which allows those of us with lives outside of our Playstations to earn credits AND race online.

When online racing earns you fewer credits per hour than your oil changes are going to cost (slight hyperbole there, but only slight), it's not going to lead to a lot of fun when you only have a couple of hours a week to play. I like sport mode and lobbies, but ignoring the problems with those modes (I mean PD certainly has), they're the only fun I have in GT7. But the payouts are ****ing awful. So I afk for my creds during the day, and race Sport in the evening. If I had to do it PD's way, I just wouldn't play.

I was racing in the DeLorean against a Samba bus. Weirdly a terrorist with a rocket launcher appeared through the roof of the samba bus so I floored it. Somewhere around 90mph something REALLY weird happened and now I AM stuck in the 80's.

Found a guy who thinks he can help but needs to know when and where the next lightning strike will be.

I'll keep you posted.

Unfortunately, the situation’s not much better even if you enjoy the single-player side. The number of races that give a respectable amount of credits can be counted on one hand (because making events like the 1 hour Spa race and Sardegna WTC 800 at more tracks seems to be an enormous task to PD for some weird reason) and custom race payouts are still an utter joke.

Still bad lag in lobbies, can’t change any settings once it’s up. Can’t save settings. Can’t change host. No results screen, etc. etc. etc, I can’t even remember all things wrong with lobbies right now...

And still only 16 players which is tragically poor!

A friend of mine who won the first GT7 season (23rd overall season we just completed, carrying on from GT Sport) in our Swedish Racing League is most likely taking a break and moving to Assetto Corsa Competizione because it’s just not fun now. Things aren’t working properly. In our league racing everyone used to look forward a lot to Monday evenings which is when we race but lately the enthusiasm generally has decreased heavily. I know there are many other similar league communities suffering in the same way.

While on the subject of ACC, they went from 24 players to 30! While we still have 16! PLEASE!

I went back to GT Sport. Much higher race craft there, cleaner races, better matchmaking, 20 players in race C, it just works. The penalties are still off yet SR deductions do still work. People give positions back after mistakes but generally leave room and don't make stupid moves. A+/S to B/S rooms with mostly A/S. Strategy in the race as well, Mediums and Softs required.

Going back highlights how poor sport mode is in GT7.

Leagues should stick to GT Sport for now, not worth the trouble going to GT7 :/

To me review bombing is pretty dishonest and childish, I didn’t even do it to BF2042 and that was a much larger disaster than GT7.

poo suit on
Leaving a bad review for a bad experience is dishonest and childish?

The 'industry' only adopted the term review bombing to shame consumers for actually standing up to bad practices... This 'review bombing' the OP is talking about has nothing to do with the childish console wars leaving low reviews for games on 'competitor' systems they don't even own.

OP purchased the game, played it long enough to form a valid opinion. If that opinion isn't the one PD was looking for, it's on them.

Anyway, if you meant the original form of review bombing games you never played, than you're absolutely right, dishonest and childish. If you have bought and played BF2042 and had issues with the game, you were in your full right to leave a bad review.

Yes giving the game a 0 is dishonest and childish, this is why no one takes user scores seriously.

Don't review bomb again, just stop playing it. Engagement numbers is all they care about. If they start falling off a cliff they'll be more inclined to do something about it.
I don't think PD are going to care that 25 people aren't playing anymore.

Where did 25 come from? I was just speaking generally out into the ether. If anyone is not happy with the state of the game, stop playing it. It's the best message they can send. If it turns out to be enough people, they'll notice.
The first option of the poll has 25 votes.

The one time we got any kind of reaction from PD was when the servers went down and literally everyone kicked off about it. They're not going to care that a vocal minority are "boycotting" the game.

25 bad reviews is worse for them than 25 people not playing.. For the record, I've never review bombed anything. But this game definitely deserves it. They don't care about going from 9.2 to 7.8. But going from 9.2 to 1.6 actually made a difference. Those of you who don't understand that are as blind as GT7's UX/UI developer.

It's already happened though, it went from 8 or whatever it was at to 2. That caused all the media outlets to make articles, videos, and such. Because let's be clear, that's all Sony/PD actually cared about. The wider negative coverage of the bombing, where millions of people may learn about the games issues that had no idea about metacritic. They didn't actually care about the low score, and probably engagement numbers of people playing the game didn't drop very much. If anything it probably climbed, given it was still very early in sales.

So no, at this point piling on more bad reviews is unlikely to make ripples. There isn't going to be the same large media response if it drops from 2 to 1.8. A few Youtubers might make a video, but it's not going to be on the likes of IGN and Gamespot again without doing something really newsworthy.

They're planning to make all their money from MTs. For that to happen, people need to be playing the game. The more people that walk away, the more concerned they're going to be about their revenue stream.

Well duh, the people giving it a 10 are delusional but they are in the same ball park as the ones giving it 0, they are just on the opposite team.
If something is not fit for purpose, for your purpose, as in, can't host leagues in GT7, then a zero is justified.

Personally I don't find GT7 fit for purpose as a racing game. The AI is beyond terrible, online has tons of issues creating an unfair, unbalanced, mostly unregulated environment. Definitely not fit for purpose as an E Sport.

Considering I rather play GT Sport online, with all its issues still in place, and Forza 7 for single player races (which also has bad AI) is a clear sign, GT7 is not fit for racing. It's great for taking pictures, collecting cars, driving them around the same old track. But it's not a racing game nor a sports game.

Once GT7 can deliver a somewhat fair working racing environment, it can have a score. Until then, it's a 0, N/A, not applicable.
Anyway, I'm in GT Sport and Forza 7 this week. Probably won't return to GT7 until N24 is on.

One day I'll do the endurance races I planned to do, I grinded all the classic cars together to make grids. But it can wait. Custom races can use a lot of QoL features as well, first of all, saving settings, saving grids, saving mid race. And then there's still the AI that desperately needs fixing. Kinda pointless to have rain in the races when the AI isn't programmed to deal with rain at all.

Why do review websites even let you rate things a 0?

You know what 0 represents? Nothing. It itself implies the absence of anything. GT7 exists and therefore needs at least a value assigned to it when rating it (a 1).

I’m not saying GT7 deserves to be review bombed but how is rating something a 0 even possible? To me at least that means something left literally no impression on you because you decided to assign it a non-value.

Like if you get a 0 on a school test for example, that just means you didn’t show up or didn’t even attempt it. GT7 showed up, or at least I think it did.

In my school (a loooong time ago) if you got zero it meant you got everything wrong. As an example, ten questions with ten wrong answers = zero/ten.

Not saying GT7 has everything wrong though :)

Just had my 9th blue screen today when exiting a lobby that is already in a race... that I couldn't tell was already in a race because that feature has been removed.

Seeing as it seems to make PD pull their finger out and that I haven't submitted a review, I think it's time to see if we can get GT7 a well deserved 1/10.
Tonight has been nothing short of an annoying, abysmal experience. Blue...blue...blue screens everywhere. If it's not frustration with having the game crash after leaving a lobby, then it's got to be the poor quality connection issues producing laggy racers and a very poor experience when I could actually join a race. What's equally as infuriating is the linear design game interface; having to go through several screens to 'try' buying tyres in time for that lobby race just adds more misery, slowing an already laboured user experience. Why in the world can I not see whether a race has started???

In addition, why can we not use brake balance control in sport mode, however TC remains fully adjustable??? Whilst I'm on this subject, both TC and ABS switch on even though I've elected not to use either assist. I know this is a bug, but still...very annoying.

I would love to believe that PD are listening, are aware, are planning to make changes to what could be a great game but the poor experience is further compounded by releasing a product that really does seem half baked, poorly planned and executed. I get that trying to optimize the game across generations is difficult; what PD has achieved graphically on PS4 has impressive, but I can't help but feel disappointed, demotivated and generally tired with the overall GT7 experience. The single player experience needs improving too; AI performance leaves a lot to be desired, especially based on their ability to take me out if I dare to get in their way. It's like driving with the worst of the worst online players. I believe updates to improve online lobbies/single player modes are coming, but when PD...WHEN? They can't come soon enough!

While one might not take single 0 review seriously, when there are hundreds or thousands of 0 or low score reviews then you do tend to take notice as something is clearly going on.

No sooner did I post my grievances with this game, I just noticed a server update scheduled for 6/9. Let's hope good things are on the horizon!
