I personally dont think any of them are that good. There just... not powerful enough. Some of them are light and have excellent handling, but they all lack any kind of good speed. Im hoping this will change in 2004 when the NSX and Skyline get their V8s...

in my order...

RX7
NSX
Skyline
Lancer
Impreza
Supra
GTO (3000GT)
300ZX
S2000
Altezza
Integra Type-R
Civic Type-R
Celica GT-S (SSII)

the Skylines and Lancers and Impreza all have been dynoed at well over 330hp, in real life. The 280hp thing is a common agreement from Japanese makers, and most cars are much more powerful.

besides, the NSX, Skyline R34 and the RX7 Type RZ are as fast as the Z06 and the Viper in GT3. And i'm quite sure they are pretty equal in R/l with a good driver.

How do you figure? The Viper and Vette are WAY faster than the any stock Japanese car in GT3, unless the person driving the Viper/Vette is a total dumbass and launches them at 6000rpm.

i tested all the fast cars myself around the most treacherous track in GT3, Cote D'azur... the NSX, RX7 and Z06 were almost equal to each other... i did perfect laps with each car.

and the 1/4 mile test doesn't mean anything in GT3... my Integra can do the 1/4 mile in 14secs. in real life, yet it only does 16 in the game. They didn't care about the 1/4 mile figures, because turning's all that matters.

That doesnt mean anything about how fast they are. A Mini would win against those cars on my neighbor's backyard gokart track. Now I guess I should go around saying Minis are just as fast as Skylines and RX-7s and Corvettes and Vipers in real life.

on the right track, yes, a Mini can be as fast as anything, depending on who drives it.

My main point was that you should mention the specifics about how the cars are faster. I asumed you where just refering to accel when you first said that, cause you didnt say anything about lap times and speed is usually a direct corrospondence to the 1/4 mile where Im from.

It's all about the RX-7's. And when the RX-8's come out, and I'm going to get one. Don't know how soon, but I will get one. I just have to graduate first. Then I have to get a job. Then I have to make some money...

But anyways, when you slap a turbo in any of these japanese cars, the things turn into rockets. It's not even funny. I'm serious, you could kill yourself. Unless you're playing GT3-A of course. :)

Nexus Maelstrom

deffinatly the NSX its the closes thing to a ferrari to come out of Japan ,and is some ways better than a Ferrari is a car that can be used a a daily drive in peak traffic something a Ferrari was never designed for

They're all pretty good cars. I had an Impreza once, and still wish I still had it. I'd have any of them right now, as I apreciate the work the Japanese are doing with cars.

I think the RX7, Supra and the Fairlady (300ZX in our country) are great looking cars too. I (and I realise I'm gonna get flamed for this!) hate the look of the Skyline - it looks cumbersome and heavy, although I've never driven one, so I can't comment on whether it is cumbersome and heavy, just that it looks so.

Alright then... a 440hp RX-7 would beat a 440hp Viper GTS 1/4 mile any day of the week. Whilst on track a stock 276hp RX-7 can race a pretty competitive race against a Viper GTS.

My fav japanese car would have to be a Skyline R32-Vspec I just love the look of the R32. The R33 is ok though but I hate the R34. I love the new concept Skyline. Another Favorite has to be the Old look pree 1993 supra, I havent got a clue why I just like it.

i know everyone will take the piss but the civic type - R is my favourite japanes car. i had a test drive in one and it has amazing handling and agility. i assume your talking about the new model.

......it that each car has its own distinct character and in their own way:

RX-7 has the legendary Rotary engine plus its predesesor the 787B was the only Japanesse and the only Rotary powered vehicle to win the Le Man.

NSX has its revolutionary VTEC system and a reputation in the CART and the FIA F1 championships.

3000GT/GTO revolutionized the sophisticated AWD system and created a ultamate handling Japanese supercar.

Skyline has a popular Japanese image in a JGTC and in production car icon and a very long historical experience, before Nissan, before Datsun. It was made by Prince motors in the 50's or 60's(?) before aquired by Nissan.

Supra was actually made in a Celica platform but w/ its own identity, it created a plateau to make Toyota the best JPN car in the world.

Fairlady/Z-series made a car that can compete Porsche in an affordadle price.(I prefer Skyline)

Lancer EVO-series made a status symbol in rallying, thanks to Tommy Makinen (now in Subaru), the EVO (along with Makinen) became the most sucessful rally car/driver in FIA history (since EVOIII to EVO VI).

Impreza has the same atributes as the EVO but in a different angle. Around the world, the Impreza is the only compact car that has a Boxer engine layout and the All Wheel Drive system standard in all models.

Civic started the trend "Rice Burners", and in the early years (CVCC before) it got all the humiliation from Camaro, Firebird, Nova, Mustang, and other musclecar owners in the early 70s. Now who got the last laugh. 😈

peace. 🤬
