Wednesday night saw a match in Boston between Daisuke Matsuzaka and Ichiro Suzuki. I've seen some of the game as I came home from community college. That inspired me to offer an international discussion about nihonjins playing as the Boys of Summer. Other notable Japanese in Major League Baseball include Sou Taguchi and Hideki Matsui among some others. As you can see, I even opened the door to talking about Japanese baseball like the Chiba Lotte Marines, for example. Japanese baseball and Japanese in the MLB are the hot topics here. Let's talk a little nihonjin baseball action!

By the way, Daisuke Matsuzaka got a one-hitter as the Red Sox lost 3-0 to the Seattle Mariners.

I've been looking for an excuse to buy an Boston hat. I think Matsuzaka is one. Ichiro still is my favorite player though.

There is another Japanese rookie(not really a rookie, I know), and I hear he's supposedly super hot, right now. Iwamura for the Devil Rays.

Was that Daisuke's premier? I can't believe I missed it, if it was. A one-hitter sounds super-impressive-- I hope his career is as successful.

I love J-league soccer and Japanese baseball. They put a ton of spirit into their sports.

Did anyone see that Yankees/Red Sox match on Sunday? This was where I sort of noticed Daisuke Matsuzaka's style. I saw up until about the 3rd Inning (you know, the one where the Red Sox hit four straight Home Run balls). His approach early on is that he held his hands up much like softball players. I think that careful delivery to a pitch really thrown him off of his game. He thankfully didn't pitch the ball like it was softball . Most of his pitches seemed more accurate as he took the more traditional pitching approach.

Anyone else want to comment on Matsuzaka's pitching style?

Not familiar with his style at all. I'll get cable one of these days......

Looks like Dice-K barely made it out with a win. The hype for this Matsuzaka vs. the Yankees were there, but those 4 homers really stole the show. I'd liked to have seen that in person. Incredible.
