Jumps?

Hello everyone! :)

I have a question about Gran Turismo 2 in Arcade Mode. On the back of my CD case, it says, "Insane Arcade Mode with power slides, burnouts, jumps and excessive speeds." How do you get jumps and such? I haven't been able to find them yet. Please help! :)

Thank you very much! :)

You're less than three Mustangs? That's okay, I'm not as heavy as my Corolla, anyhow. :D

What they mean to say are the various places you can get air time like at Seattle, Trial Mountain, and Tahiti Road; and to a lesser extent Grand Valley and Special Stage R5. You can create tiresmoke on starts and during hard acceleration at tight corners, slide though many different corners. And as for excessive speeds...wouldn't you want to write a ticket for some one going 200+mph down your street?

It's not a stunt game, if that's what you're looking for. It's a driving game (even if the racing can be a little iffy at times).

^ LOL! ;)

Ya know, I never recognized the claim on the back of the pretty box to be at all accurate. Basically, they didn't wanna write "same as Sim mode, minus money and tuning" as a definition for Arcade mode, so there are supposedly "crazy jumps, etc.) Personally I never felt any performance changes between arcade and Sim mode. Thus, arcade isn't worth your time, except for two-player races. Go ahead and throw away the disk ;-).

Hey, guys! :)

Thanks for the replies. I do appreciate it. :)

I see what you are saying now about the jumps. I took it literally, like it was a stunt track. :)

What were you meaning by this though: You're less than three Mustangs? That's okay, I'm not as heavy as my Corolla, anyhow.

BTW, I love Mustangs in the real world.

Pupik was making a clever pun concerning your username. If you're at all familiar with math notation, < and > refer to "less than" and "more than", respectively. Thus if x < y then y is greater. Similarly, "I < 3 Mustangs" could be assumed to be taken literally, instead of a cute way of saying that you love Mustangs. ;)

I didn't really understand pupik's second sentense, though. Perhaps he's also making fun of your weight.

Other than the Time Trials and 2-player, I find the actual Arcade disc races to be pretty much meaningless. They always feature the same cars which gets boring (the Renault Clio, the Vantage V8, etc.). Even when I was a total newb playing GT1, I never touched the arcade portion. I've played around with it in GT2 a bit, but I've never completed it!

No, no, no....How could I make fun of the the weight of a member I've never met? I'm likely 10-20 pounds overweight myself (or is that "oversquare")? In any case, I should hope that no human being weighs as much as a Corolla, anyhow. I mean, 2300 pounds? Not possible, really.

Sorry, just having fun with the mathematical dynamics of your username. After all, my username has the sound of "poop" in it (but it doesn't mean anything like that).

There's a number of different Mustang variations in GT2:

'98 Mustang GT
'98 Mustang Cobra SVT
'99 Mustang GT
'99 Mustang Cobra SVT
'99 Saleen SR Widebody
'66 Shelby G.T.350
'68 Shelby G.T.500

Maybe that ought to give you reason to buy the game....

Meh, I was just being sarcastic, and then you have to reply so serious-like. ;)

Ya know, I turned on GT2 for half an hour today out of sheer nostalgia, but was inclined to press the OFF button on my television because of the painful sensation of the eyeballs experienced by myself. I was playing a game with horrendously poor graphics, and a horrendously simplistic interface, and a horrendously crappy driving model, too. In short, GT2 for the PS1 is waaay over the hill, and user I <3 Mustangs should probably just stick to Ford Racing, not to lay any smack on the great GT2 with which I spent countless hours.

The world's heaviest man in the Guiness Book, Oliver Wendell Hughes (or Holmes, I forget) weighed just over 1,000 pounds...just a few pounds more than a Subaru 360.

flamingwonky - Now I get it. I was thinking that when I was typing. I just saw other people using <3 as "Love" on other websites, I thought it would be cute to use it, too! :sly: Is Ford Racing the same as Ford Mustang Racing?

pupik - Yes, maybe I did purchase it because of the 'Stangs. LoL! I only have PS1 though, so I can't get Ford Mustang Racing. It comes on PS2. :)

And for everyone, I am a General Motors fan (Buick, Olds, Pontiac, Chevy). I just happen to like Mustangs. The best. Of any sportcars.

No. Ford Racing for the PS1 features a bunch of Fords. If you do the seasonal races (similar to GT simulation mode) you start off in a Ka, then a Fiesta, A Focus, the Puma, the Contour, Taurus, Cougar, and finally the Mustang. At the end you get the GT90. It's a good game for a beginner. When I played it I was an absolute beginner and the progression from dirt-slow to so fast you can barely control it helped me learn a lot before I started doing Gran Turismo. But GT is a much better game...so much better.

How does that equate to love???

It's supposed to be a heart but it's sitting sideways...kinda like this smiley :-) is sitting sideways. I know, at first I thought his name was translated “I am lesser than 3 mustangs”.
