I've been reading topics on this forum for a few months now but never really wanted to register (mainly due to the massive flaming at other members for petty things - it really puts off new members like myself)

But anyway, after reading pretty much every topic about the demo i'd just like to express my opinion on a few things.

1. "The handling on this demo sucks"
I just think maybe, because it's a time trial, everyone is raping the 370z around the track like there are no consequences to crashing (which is obviously true)
Some of the corners on the track are pretty sharp and taking them at 80mph, the car is bound to lose grip. Its a road car, with road tires, and its being pushed to the absolute limit. If you drive round a little slower the thing is pretty planted.

2. "The grass is like an ice rink"
I personally think PD did this on purpose. Lets think about it - it's a time trial, and the winner will become a real racing driver. Maybe the grass is slippy to persuade people NOT to use it. You get penalised for massively cutting corners, so maybe the grass is slippy to persuade you not to cut the corners at all? Just my opinion though, maybe they just got it wrong.

3. "The graphics suck"
I don't even need to comment on this.. It's supposed to be showcasing the physics, not the graphics. If the graphics were ready the game would be released wouldn't it? And even so, the graphics are pretty good, even if the track is a bit bland

Very good points, I find this demo very enjoyable and by far the best physics I've ever seen in a racing game. If people want to complain about no grip, then they could go play Burnout. That has plenty of grip.

I agree with all points.

I also discovered quite quickly that the yellow painted area on the last decent right hand turn is also crazy slippery. In the tuned car you can lose traction while trying to just go straight ahead. It's a little over the top but the idea is to strictly enforce professional driving.

It might be like that in real life.
I was thinking that myself. Glossy enamel paint is pretty slick.

I agree that the grass issue is probably an intentional penalty, although it is a little heavy handed. But I find the TT demo to be a pretty darn realistic one. These aren't even sport tires on the stock 370Z after all, just road tires, and pushing a car at 100 mph around a turn, no matter how gentle or sweeping, is just about suicidal.

While everybody that complaints also sems to forget - or they just don't know - that everything regarding physics changes drastically once the torque hits it's tops 6,000 rpm and above. But nevermind, haters will always hate.

I think those yellow painted lines are extra slick (you can click it into 5th wheelspinning on the strip) so we don't just use it as roadway for this time trial, keeps us with atleast two wheels on the actual road.

They're lots of fun :D

I'm glad that others agree. Any chance a mod could move this to the TT section though, i accidently posted in the wrong area. Way to make a good first impression "doh"

Fear NOT Andeekaii, you've already made a lasting GOOD impression. So refreshing NOT to see another thread full of drivel that matters not. I haven't purchased a PS3 yet as I'm awaiting objective, insightful reviews like yours to convince me to purchase GT5 when it's finally issued. Thank You. 👍

I agree on a few points but the only reason why the graphics suck is because they have had to squeeze a whole time trial event onto a 200mb space.

I agree with most parts, but definitely not with the car raping. :)

grass is slippery almost like ice, i have been there ( long story ). Specially if you have high performance summer tires.

This would also depend on where the weight is transferred, if you are turning on a fast right and run over some grass on the right side tires, it should have little detrimental effect because most of the cars weight will be on the left side tires. But on the same corner if you run on grass on the left side it should spin you out without any chance of recovery.

just my thoughts.

We both love them. 8)
