GTWS Nations Final, Round 4 - 2pm SLOT - EMEA Region - RED BULL X2019 Comp - 42min 44secs race finish 1st!

Hey guys, what an Epic 42mins of racing today at the final round of the GTWS Nations cup for me. Depsite me being ill (man-flu), I decide to hop on and give it bash and managed to succeed and gain a top podium.

Spent the early part of the afternoon praticn gith the x2019, setting soem decent times in it. Overall good pace on the RS tyres but it was enough to be in a high postion come qualifying.

Qualifying was very messy, as all cars left the pits, overlapping each other so I slowed down and paced myself over squeezing in a third lap as the timer ran out. Starting 5th it feel a good place to win.

Onto the race, the start was great, pushed off the line smoothly gaining one place into 4th onto Turn 1, little argy bargy and 3 abreast on the twisties leading into the cliffside hairpin. Did almsot crash off some guys hit the gravelly area, Some contact but kept my composure. Then I was stuck in 4th for a good 6-7laps and then (see clip below) did a massive divebomb on a french driver and gained 3rd, which was awesome to do, but then fumbled afterwards onthe hairpin and he regained 3rd place.

The strategy I adopted from someone mentioning it here, was 10lap RS > 13laps RM > 4laps RH, i also had to be very concious of the fuel too, switching the maps frequently midrace.

After the first pit for tyre and fuel, the leading guys didnt fill up so they were oddly just rushing around, I tried to hold onto lap 10 and gain pole then pitted leading into lap 11. I was back down to 6th, then was catching as the others started to pit, I gained one positon back and was 4th again.

The 3rd position guy pitted on lap 21 as I was conserving my fuel, got the one up on him, to last longer with RM Tyres. It paid off as the top two leading cars didn't pit properly for RH tyres. I didnt realise this, I was just chasing till the end of lap 27. I was running a smooth final lap and the leading two cars crossed the line, but I was unsure if they had pitted or not. When I finish, the race screen pings up, they both get slapped a 2min penalty and I am 1st, fantastic what a race. WIN WIN!

After an abysmal round 3, I am so happy this was chuffed in the bag. Now onto the Manus cup come next week! LFG!

Bit of a weird one for me. I'm not sure how popular this race was, there seemed to be a big field spread in terms of DR. 190 point race when my last few have been around the 160 mark. Come to think of it I quit the last race I did on Wednesday, I don't know what's going on. I qualified 11th, 1.4 seconds of pole with an okay-ish lap.

I false started because I was too busy making sure my traction control and brake balance were set. This probably helped as I missed three separate crashes on the first lap, going from 15th to 7th by the end.

I went 1H/8M/9S/9S. Some people ran hards for several laps. Strategies were all over the place. Fortunately I avoided everyone when I was pitting, I think I only had two overtakes on track, and I let the eventual winner past coming out of the last corner.

My pace was pretty terrible regardless of strategy. I'm pretty sure my practice times (I ran this four times!) were much faster than I managed here, but my lap times felt alright. Still pretty useless even on softs, so maybe just sticking with the mediums would have helped. I ended up 7th for 143 points.

I still don't like this track but it does look nice at sunset.

Because all 3 tire types are required.
But you start on one compound? You only need 2 stops to do the other two tires unless you want to run the inters or wets as well???

Start on compound A

Pit for compound B

Pit for compound C

Am I missing something here other than a damage pit which having seen some of the races would have been a nurse home rather than lengthy pit stops?

I can't say I blame PD for making everyone use Gr.3 cars for the upcoming Manufacturers Cup Exhibition Series Season 1, as unfortunately, Gr.4 is entirely dominated by the Huracan Gr.4 with no contest. Hopefully the next BoP change will fix that.

Have you done daily C since the update....

This has been the case in GT1 seasons for a very long time now. It looks like PD lost all interest in trying to fix Gr.4 a while ago.

So this is a really really weird thing. The Mazda 3 was meta for a long time since its introduction, loads of moaning and backlash and contracts expiring etc and now it's not even relevant.

Fast forward and we now have single drive train events in GR4 very odd (and I'll be honest if they are gonna single drive train this stuff pretend it's junior cup racing and make it FF)

I thought it was simply always like that from the get-go, not necessarily "for a very long time." But I'd love to see Gr.4 (and Gr.2 and Gr.1 for that matter) get better treatment, especially since I think all those groups have potential to expand with more racers both new and old.

I actually like the special selections, as it makes us use cars we may've not considered before. Not unlike the Gr.1 events that are limited to the Group C racers.

To be fair I do mostly dailies so my perspective is skewed quite a bit.

But GR4 is a bit of a cluster being honest, of the AWD/4WD cars they aren't matched in race conditions this week, open it up further and it's the same issue that the other groups have in that there are cars clearly more capable. That isn't a problem in itself but it's utterly pointless in competitive lobbies where there are less accidents and better decisions made.

You can't please all of the people all of the time but you can balance choice better.

All of GTS and the early GT7 Manufacturer seasons included Gr.4 races. I don't remember exactly when but it was fairly early on in GT7 that they just stopped using Gr.4. I'm convinced they don't know how to balance all the drive trains and their solution was to just take it out.

I've done all three GT1 slots today and I'm exhausted. That's a lot of focus. I don't know how people do that on a regular basis whilst also mixing dailies in between!

Race 1
This was a really fast lobby. I qualified P7 with a 1:27.273 and started on the Hards, expecting lap 1 to be a massacre. Somehow it wasn't, and whilst I lost some positions across the lap being cautious with the poor grip I was happy to get into the pits unscathed, slap on the Mediums and get running. I was even front of the early pitters on the exit because the guy who entered the pits in front of me took on fuel.

This was exactly the kind of race start I had been hoping for. I started pumping in laps, but then got frustrated when I caught a French driver who had started P2 somewhere through lap 11. As in my previous post, he'd decided to go for a long Hard stint for some reason and turned into a bit of a rolling road block. I was able to close right up on him in spite of my aging Mediums and dirty air, but with so little grip I really needed to get a good exit out of the sector 3 tunnel onto the main straight. I was losing around a second or more per lap behind him.

Unfortunately for me, as I had finally managed to start applying enough pressure to make that happen, a Finn on fresh Softs turned up behind me. He quickly dispatched me, completely ruining my attack and forcing me to start all over. By the time I finally had the run I wanted on lap 15, the French driver went to pit.

Ended up P6 in the end for 207 points.

Race 2
I ended up in a stronger lobby for this one. My qualifying was better and I started P3 with a 1:26.946. After seeing how lap 1 went before I decided to put my faith that it would work out again and start on the Mediums.

However, my race came undone on lap 2. I had (again) been a bit cautious on lap 1 and lost a couple of positions for it. One of the people who got in front was a Greek on Hards, and picked up front and rear aero damage from collisions over the first lap. I can't say I understand why, but he didn't pit. I end up closing rapidly on him on the run down to the tight sector 1 hairpin with a car right up my rear.

The Greek had approached the hairpin on the right, so I anticipated he'd try to take a tight line and set myself up to go around the outside. He then moved across under braking, and I had to take evasive action and bin myself. He ended up going on to finish P2, of course.

Still ended up managing to finish P7 for 204 points, but not happy. If I hadn't binned it, I could have been up fighting for at least a podium.

Race 3
Third time's the charm. I honestly thought I was on for my first win in 2 years but it wasn't to be. I started on pole with a 1:26.906 and decided to try bolt away on the Softs, then move through to Mediums and Hards.

I managed to escape P2 after some fighting on lap 1, but sadly my race pace just wasn't enough even whilst running in clean air for most of the way. I came out of the pits at the start of lap 27 in P2, then lost P3 halfway through the lap. Hards vs Softs just isn't a competition.

P3 for 236 points is the kind of result I was hoping to get today though, so I'm very glad I went all in and tried again.

Hello
Soo… GTWS Manufacture cup was announced.
Any pointers for noob player?

For now I’m thinking about joining Honda but maybe another manufacturer is leaps better?

Here’s a showcase of designs I’ll be rocking for upcoming events (unless someone will change my mind)

No race today, the little one had an away game for his football team. At least we won that! I finished the season top 150 in EMEA. No easy races in the 300 point lobbies. Top 8 finish is the new target. Anything else is a bonus. Round 2 was a nightmare but all in all I'm happy to be competing at this level and not coming last.

I hate this car, I hate this track, I hate this race, I hate that I came in P 13, I hate that after being away for several years and just recently being back that obviously am in dire need of relearning and significant practice…however, I did get to race, it’s a beautiful day out and I’m alive, so, all in all a fantastic day! Good luck to all on todays endeavor.

I always use the car I like to drive, before it was the Nissan GT3 2018 for couple seasons, but now it's the Lamborghini, I'm for the moment faster in that car than the Nissan, but I still get beaten by other Nissan and lambo drivers
:), so use the car you like to drive is my advice.

My second race was much better because 1) I didn’t finish last in a D rated lobby and 2) I only made two major errors that cost me places.

I also had never driven on GVH before yesterday and today and it seems like this was one of the worst cars to learn this track on lol

My DR is tanked, my morale is low, but the 8 points still cancels out the 5 I got in round 1 😂

Overall, got back into the game around Christmas for the first time since a month after the game came out. Relearned how to drive. Had to learn Sardegna and GVH from scratch (only learned RA from the recent time trial) and still did alright With on track battling.

Excited for Manu cup now with all tracks I know and an Alfa Gr3 I’m rather comfortable in and won my wet race from NC. Might try out some others in my garage between now and then to see if any sing to me
