just a thought about 4ws.....

i was playing gt2 tonight and i started thinking about the cars with 4-wheel steering, the cars in the game such as the galant vr4, 3000gt vr4, and some of the skylines, .....does anyone know if the in game cars are built with this feature or do you suppose the designers decided to omit this feature thinking that ,we as the game players, wouldn't even notice?

it doesnt seem that they are. and another real car with 4ws is the 90 something 2 year production run prelude si.....i dont believe its in the game.

Interesting point; a frew of the cars do in fact have 4-wheel steering, but I can't really tell the difference. I recall a track test some years ago between similar cars with and without 4WS. It turned out track times between the two were about the same, and in some cases, the non-4WS cars were slightly faster.

I recall 4WS comes into it's own at very slow speeds, like parking manuvers and darting in and out of traffic jams. Honda's system allowed the rear wheels to steer at very slight angles; 5 degrees at speeds under 15 mph, and about 1-2 degrees at higher speeds. This was a bit of a fad in the late-80's, and few cars actually used the process nor marketed it to any considerable degree.

In the end, the last car sold with 4WS in the US was the 3000GT, the Prelude 4WS system endedwith the new-style '92 model. Ironically, 4WS re-appeared on GMC's line of full-size trucks, a vehicle that really does need it!

Therefore, I can't say GT2 ever made any of the cars react differently to 4WS. All the 3000GTs handle quite awful, anyhow.

4ws does make a diff. The 3000GT VR4 vs. regular one I'd take regular. 4ws handling is not as good, it actually slips a whole lot more, making you slide outward in a turn, making u lose speed, making u lose race. End.
