Thought I would bump this back up, having had more time with the game and my DFGT.

Completed my first endurance race last night (Laguna 200) using the '01? NSX Type R, and had a blast. I swear that a few times while screaming up hill to the corkscrew at 8,000rpm I felt like I was driving the real car. Or, maybe it was the fact that I didn't finish the race until almost midnight, I might have been a little out of it.

I can say that, even after the race I took that car for a lap around the 'Ring and loved every minute of it. New favorite car. 👍

I didn't think the DFGT worked with GT4. In fact I think I remember it not working when I tried GT4 with it on my PS3.

I also had a problem with the 1080i not working with my PS3. It froze up after a few seconds into the race. 480p ran fine though, but I really wanna try it in 1080i.

Anyone know anything about why 1080 might not work on the PS3? Otherwise, if the DFGT works with the PS2, then maybe I'll have to buy a component cable for my PS2 and bring it to my living room.

Details? Settings?
Or did you, like I did, run it more or less stock with just a change of tyres? (200 A-spec Laguna Seca 200 miles in a stock Honda NSX '01)
Who'd you run against, and what was your margin of victory?
I'm interested even if no-one else is! :)

Parts installed:

- Racing suspension (lowered, otherwise untouched)
- Hard Racing tires (R2)
- Stage one N/A tune
- Sports chip
- Oil Change
- Racing Brakes
- Sports clutch and flywheel
- Rear wing (10 front, 12 rear)

This was good enough for 122 A-Spec points. Anything less and I found it hard to keep up. It actually took me around 10 laps or so to catch the leader. (Corvette Grand Sport) I hit pit road every 15-20 laps, depending on the condition of my tires. On the last pit stop I only took tires, no fuel. Other cars were Corvette Z06, Camaro SS, Viper SRT-10, Viper GTS. Winning margin was just over one lap.

If I did it over again, I would probably ditch the wing and the N/A tune. Would be hard to keep up at first, but the AI cars pit more often so that would allow me to catch up and/or pass them with no problems.

I was thinking about picking up a used PS2 and GT4 to tide me over until 5 comes out....sold both of mine probably 3 years ago and regret it now! :(

How well does the DFGT wheel work with GT4? Is there force feedback?

I'm using a Slim PS2, seems to work ok.

Works pretty good I think. I think the dead spot in the center of the steering is a little big, but you get used to it. There is force feedback. 👍

Since all the information I have seen and read about GT5 over the last couple of weeks, I could not help but get my GT4 out of its (dusty) case and am playing it again on my PS3. Not played it for a good 3-4 years when I had completed around 96% or so.

When it 1st came out, I thought the graphics were fantastic, but compared to the eye candy we have seen recently, it looks............well.............okay-ish. :indiff:

Still, am lapping it up again, and will try and make it last as close to November as possible. :)

PS2 Slim with a G27 here. Works awesome, even the paddles. Seems I drug my dusty copy out about the time you got yours. Went for 100% completion first. Amazed that I had stopped playing it at 56% back then. Hmmmm...pity.

Nevertheless, I hit 100% the first of April this year, although only approx 25k a-spec points to show for it. Since then I've been a full blown a-spec nutter. Going back through all of the events was embarrassing (1pt each 👎) So its cool to go from 1pt to 200pt in one race. Now I'm up to just over 80K a-spec and working out the enduros. Tonight I'm thinking of either Fuji 1000k or Laguna again. I think I could beat Laguna with my trusty Bathurst RX7, but need to test alittle.

Even if these cars are part of GT5, I'll be happy. I'm set on the bumper cam anyway, and with PS3 power and next-gen shaders and textures, it will be wonderfull. I hope that there is an a-spec ratio still, or something like that. (except a little less arduous)

Anyway, I have until Nov to get to the 100k mountain. I'm pretty sure I won't be able to get max points but I started this quest to just hit 50k, then reset to 75k, now I'm targeting 100k. 👍:)

I may re-do that Laguna race this weekend and shoot for 200 A-spec points. It was hard to keep up at first, but like I said the AI cars pit more often that I do, so that should make up for my slowness.

Ive been saving my first ps3 experience for GT5. I havent stopped playing gt4 for the last 5 years. I just started the nurburgring 24hr enduro for 200 pts, with an Opera S2000. I beginning to enjoy close racing, the kind where you only gain a tenth or two per lap. I didnt do the proper testing to get the car sorted out so I have some sloppy oversteer, but its still an ejoyable drive.

I fared well in a RUF RGT for that race. Dark green I believe.
