Has anyone else here ever had problems with Umbria Rally (normal) ? I swear i have tried about 20 times, with Cadillac CIEN, Mitsubishi Lancer 1600, And the Mazda6 Touring Car. There is nothing wrong with my driving, its the best its ever been. I barely hit anything, but the opposition (Lancer VII i think, the new one) Pushes me into the wall etc. He does't get any penalty points when he does the jump at the end of the straight and goes flying into the wall, but i have to slow down to about 50mph or i get the red nightmare flashing on my screen. He also seems very fast, seeing as i never catch up with him when i was using my CIEN, with NOS, doing 130 on the straight.. If you found it easy could you please tell me any tips you have?

Thanks in advance - Risei.

Yeah, the AI doesn't get any penalties and they tend to nudge you all over. We've all had many problems with the AI on the special conditions tracks. It just follows some racing line and doens't allow anything to get in its way... and if you happen to be in it, you'll suffer.

I did it with a fully-tuned Mazda RX-7 RZ '93-ish... it wasn't easy at all, but it was very fun, as I had to go against the Mitsu Starion Rally Car. My advice would be to use a far-superior car so you can get past the AI car and then learn from there.

If you don't want to go overkill, try a car with similar characteristics to the AI, but slightly tuned. Like if the AI uses a Mitsu Evo 7, try the same car with a sports exhaust and racing tyres.

Thankyou for your help though. I usually don't overkill, but i found this very difficult as i am only 17% through the game. Although i have been playing GT since about 8yrs.. Only mucking about though :D

EDIT: Sowwy loon

You can just wall ride, but make sure you don't hit the wall hard, just turn with the wall, and smoothly approach the outside wall. That is an act of desperation IMO though.

For special condition races on the streets i use my 7--hp skyline. (I really need more suggestions on what to use, I'm not sure its the right car for the job) and snow and dirt i use the car you win in the Capri! (am i ok with this too once entering normal events?)

You may want to look for a car with good balance for that track, enough power, but not too much, as little wheelspin as possible, good grip, and small

Like the S2000, that should do alright after proper set-up

Also reviewing the course and running practice laps will help, makes the mental aspect a little easier.

I won the race with my Impreza as it is now, 350-ish HP, S3, etc, so its not hard

Yeah a Amuse S2000 R1 would PWN, but I won these with a 320HP Renault 5 Turbo Road Version. Maybe a fully modded Renault Clio V6, or a BMW M3 can help ya out.

The Dodge RAM can also win all the special conditions events - just add as much power as you need and plenty of ballast all moved to the rear. Not pretty but very effective.

Speaking of Dodge RAM's, why do you get 30hp cars as opponents in arcade mode? they haven't exactly got matching power-to-weight ratios.
