Just played GTPSP for the first time... GT5 can learn with it.

I think certain cars had better sounds in GT-PSP. Dodge Viper SRT10 being a prime example. It actually sounded like an 8.4l V10!

And those tracks we miss, like El Capitan :(

Agree! GTPSP was the reason I also bought a PSP. I'm amazed by that little game and never expected it to be so great.

You`re joking right? I can`t believe that someone calls GTPSP great.
Hm, lets check:

- Medicore graphics, yes
- awfull engine sounds, yes
- no tuning options, yes
- no career mode? no real singleplayer? yes
- retarded credit system? yes (3 laps at test course give more money then 10 laps at nordschleife)
- very strange random car dealership? yes (eventhough it CAN be fun)
- poor multiplayer? yes (adhoc only!)

The PSP was my main console till GT5 arrived and GTPSP was average at best. Also, im still butthurt that Kaz didn`t really hold his promise, he said we could transfer our cars to GT5... but transfering them into the arcade garage with all cars as standard cars... lol

edit: Before someone arrives and wants to tell me how good GTPSP graphics are. Ever played God Of War PSP, Metal Gear Peace Walker or Monster Hunter Freedom United?

Do you know what a PSP is, right? What you wanted? PS3 graphics?

And now, playing GTPSP, it makes sense... its Gran Turismo on the go. Without complicated stuff... Pick a car, a track and go race! It works. It really works.

BTW... again... El Capitain, Costa di Amalfi, Citta di Aria, Seattle Circuit. If those don't appear on GT5, I'll have serious brain injuries. They are fantastic, even on the small PSP screen.

Another thing that surprised me is how better the physics are comparing to GT4... Cars feel quite good, unlike the mad understeer from GT4 cars. (Far from GT5 tho)

AND, again... last night I played with the Jaguar E-Type. Looking that loooong hood on the interior view makes me want to kick my TV when I did the same thing with a standard E-Type on GT5. CMON PD! I want to see the exterior on my standards... priority number 1 for me now because its so much better...

You're not considering that it is a hanheld game... You wouldn't expect it to have all the content that a console GT has. If you expect it to be like GT4 or GT5, then of course you'll see it as a bad game. As for the graphics, I'll have to again disagree. For a hanheld game to run at 60fps, and look almost like a PS2 game, it is impressive. Being logical and comparing it to other PSP racers instead of action/adventure games, GTPSP destroys the competition.

Yes, MGSPW looks fantastic, I have to agree with you there. GOW, I haven't played it since I hate that game, and don't care about it. I believe it might look close to the PS2 versions. And before you tell me that I have no right to hate GoW, let me tell you that I do have GoW I, II and III and played them till my eyes bleed.

I like how you forgot about drving feel :)

I'm astonished that GT PSP has a very good physic system. It's waaaay better than GT4. As someone mentioned there is a carrier it's just hidden behind tracks. You start from D class and trying to get every track on S class. It works way better than GT5 carier mode where everybody now just doing indianapolis (or was ?). You take youmost liked car on most liked tracks and try to beat S class. It is simple and it works.

Meanwhile you buy new cars where there are more cars than GT4 ever had. It has first interior view in series. And cocpit cam feels good.

What i didn't like was lack of tuning which is understedable since your every oponent is calculated by your car performance so tuning is useless.

Also i didn't like that PSP can't emulate gas/brake and sterring wheel as good as dualshock. I play it mostly on D-pad with pulsating gas and brake since they only work on off.. Where on DS i used to steer with left analog and gas/brakle with right one with l1/r1 for changing gears. I will buy in few days Vita and will probably reflect my DS button map.

As for graphic i realy don't understand how can anyone complain.

I mean full nring with 4 cars... on a handheld.. from 2004... and it looks almost like gt4 with better cars.

As for sounds generally they lack low tones even more tahn GT4. But that is also understendable since game has almost 750 cars and game is like 1GB so it's like few kb for one car of sounds. That's devils work i say. They sound bad with few cars like NSX souding rather good.

As for garage. It chanfes every two loadings of tracks. Not races. And those loadings are way faster than GT5 ones. So people who hate used car system from GT5 will hate that in GTPSP people who liked that will like that too.

One thing should be enlighted before all other things. DRIFT MODE.

It's highlight of game.

As you drift you earns points like in GT5 mode but the twist is that aren'r points ! It's Cr, your money so the more you drift the more you earn the better you are in drifting the more you will earn and there is a second twist. Every full lap in full lap drift mode will give you x2 bonus next one x3 etc.

So drifting in that mode is super awasome and in my opinion shoud be ported to GT5 as it that good !

So

PRo:

-Drift mode
-Physic
-Graphic
-Portable GT. Pickup play.
-Good arcade mode.

cons
-sounds
-PSP quirks with lack of analog buttons.
-Lack of tuning.

Now GT is dirt cheap so it's steal for anyone like me timetrialing tracks like captain or citta di aria.

some gameplay

And here is direct feed replay throught tv out O.o

Great post Perkel 👍

In a post above I talked about how physics feel better than GT4, but you used the correct terms... they are just MUCH, MUCH better... I feel them a halfway between GT4 and GT5P... and yes, the drift mode should be ported to GT5 like that... points = credits!

Other things that are obvious is the interior views. I still can't figure out why PD didn't put this type of interior view in GT5's standards. Even though it's all blacked out, you can still see the nose of the car. If you have the Mustang cobra R, compare the PSP interior view with GT5's. You'll see a huge difference.

I think you'll find it's all about detail, we already know that a lot of standards don't look so hot close-up, well if they use the same models and show the hood/nose of the car through the windscreen I think you'll find it'll just highlight the lack of detail.

I should add that i'm not defending this decision by PD, but should also add that I don't mind standards in general and I think they usually look OK in a race context, just not so hot in close up replays or photomode (or a close up of a hood through a windscreen I suspect!)
