Really odd man...we got something like 9 total additional units one tuesday last week (coupled with our 8 launch units). From what I understand, we're expecting another 3-5 within the next 7-10 days.

This seems to be the case with both the Wii and PS3. My wife keeps calling around and getting the "we don't know" or "sometime in January" lines, yet our local EB Games had a huge Black Friday sale at 5 AM, they just didn't advertise that they had any systems so only a loyal few crack of dawn shoppers got their systems.
I am betting money they held on to systems for this purpose.
I have worked multiple different retail jobs and I know that deliveries are expected at regular days/times, but when you ask about these systems all you ever get is, "we don't know when we will get them in." That's great, man, but when is your regular shipment? I need to call and ask the guy when he is scheduled to unload the truck and stock the shelves. That would tell me when the next shipment would possibly be. I understand they don't know when they might get another system, but tell me when the deliveries come in and I will show up the next morning to see for myself.

I keep getting the "not till next year" responce too dispite many stores like best buy keep getting them as well as game stop. Now I only have $550 spending cash left so even if i did find one i cnt get it yet. nothing else i wanna buy all my bills are paid up with another $2000 coming by the end of the month.

I think anyone wanting to get a new system needs to just show up every day at their favorite store to see if they have any.
I am kind of surprised that there are so many 20gb systems out and there is very little mention of 60gb even coming in. Honestly, they should have made one system and been done with it.

I have a feeling the 20GB version will be dropped soon. In such a huff to get a PS3, nobody wants that version, which should tell Sony something.
However, they could just postpone the manufacturing of the 20GB version, and continue when it will most likely sell; during next year's holiday season.
Yeah, it'll probably be dropped. Nobody wants them, plus Sony is losing more money on that version than the 60GB.

Do you guys remember all the huff about the price, when many naysayers were saying that no one would want a $600 PS3 no matter what advantages it had? Especially after the $500 version was confirmed to include HDMI? Remember how many people scratched their heads at the 80/20 ratio of premium to basic PS3s Sony was producing? Remember how some people mocked those of us who said we preferred the more expensive version, and most buyers probably would too?

Well, I just got back from Wal Mart about a while ago, and it seems I'm out of luck again.
Wal Marts all over the US were/are having tons of PS3 game consoles released for sale today, for their big SUNDAY SALE ADD, or whatever. They've been in the warehouse for several days in most Wal Marts, with the employees unable to sell them or let people know they had them.
I found out, through a local manager I always call, that Wal Mart will start selling them at 6AM today. They had four PS3s in at five o' clock, and me and six other people waiting to buy them, so they sold them an hour early. Didn't get the only 60GB they had, so I walked away mad as hell. So did the other four people, so there are three 20GB model PS3s sitting on the shelf at the Upland Wal Mart right now.
I now officially give up looking for a PS3 before Christmas. Here's why. GT:HD will be a weak little demo. Resistance sucks. The game I wanted, COD3 really, really sucks (saw demo) and the XBox360 version looks better, and the only other game I want wont be out for two more months, so why get a PS3 now? I had one last chance today, and I wont bother anymore. Too much crap for too little results.

Well if that isn't the dumbest thing I've ever read....
Maybe you should try PLAYING the game instead of making excuses about being motion sick? Call of Duty has frame sinks all over the place on BOTH consoles, really washed out textures in a LOT of places, and an EXTREMELY boring story...yet I haven't said it sucks...but then again I'm not going to run around and knock the game because it's not my taste.
Resistance very much does not suck...neither does it's average of 89% on game rankings (not to mention many game of the month awards from many magazines, even has ties with gears of war from some publishers).
Maybe you should say you don't like it, but it doesn't suck.

I don't like it and I think it sucks.
You're not going to change my mind, so waste your time trying to convince me, otherwise, if you've got nothing better to do.
I rented the 360 version, and the framerate is as smooth as butter. The textures are pretty good too, though even Viva Pinata kills it in that department, so that's not saying much. The story is dumb too, I agree 100%.
From what I read from multiple websites, the 360 version of CoD3 has better online, better framerate, and better graphics.

I agree, the color was also a lot better on the 360 version. The PS3 game looked fuzzy and washed-out, in comparison.
It's very, very clear this game was made for the 360 and then quickly remade for the PS3.
My first PS3 game will be a "made-for-PS3" game, only, and one that I want. So far, I think that means no games out now, or coming out soon.

No, you don't like it, that's all there is to it. The game does not suck. Debate finished.
Duck - I've played both, and have both sitting in my living room at this very moment. I experience frame drops on BOTH versions during heavy combat when there are lots of explosions / tanks / enemies on screen. Especially during the raining area's.
As for the textures, the difference is in contrast. They are both the same as far as resolution, however, if you look at the 360 version, like most 360 games, the bump up the contrast on the textures in order to make up for the lack of dynamic lighting on all objects. Selfshadowing isn't present on everything, and HDR is hard to fake, so they try to up the ante by adding shadows and contrast to their textures, and the result looks very good, as I don't think either console is far enough in it's life span to pull off lighting like that. But, if you look at the PS3 version, they're definately trying...and failing (except in games like Resistance, where the lighting outshines even Gears of War).

For you to say it sucks suggests that
1) You have played it.
2) It does not play well.
To say that you don't like it suggests that
1) You probably won't play it
2) It doesn't suit your tastes.
I'm sure if someone said metal gear solid sucks, even though they haven't played it, and rarely play stealth games, you'd have a cow, call them a child, flame them, and then tell them to search more and play the game.
Resistance doesn't suck, it just doesn't suit your tastes. That is the end of the discussion. There's nothing more to it.

No I wouldn't. I might say they were crazy, since it is such a fantastic and popular game. But, I wouldn't 'flame' them, or anything. I can let people have their own opinion about certain things and not feel I'm more correct in the way I feel about it, unlike you.
Everybody has their own opinion about games, and mine is Resistance sucks.

Oh...well, I read all of that, but I missed the reason's as to why he thought it sucked. Having played the game all the way through, I can say that just watching trailers or playing little demo's does not give this game justice IMO, it is my informed opinion that the game, for the genera, does not in fact suck. The story line could have been more original, it is basically "War of the Worlds" with different little critters, but yeah, I was more curious as the reason's why it sucked to him other than just "It sucks".

He doesn't have a reason. He's saying it sucks because he can and he doesn't like it.
And funnily enough, War of the Worlds is one of his preferred movies it seems, from what I've seen him post.
80%? Nah, not that much. Most likely 60%, IMO. It's still a large amount nonetheless.

80%, trust me. Since gears of war has come out, and MGS4, MotorStorm, and DMC4 are being shown, there is a "bar" to be set, and there is no way the same visuals are going to be pushed without hindering the frame rate.
80%. Motion Blur > 60FPS.
