Kaz: Pushing the Virtual Divide

I said it on the FB post, and I'll say it here: I don't buy Kaz's "genius" or "artist" status anymore.

I simply cannot take Kaz seriously. The GT franchise was awesome in PS1 and PS2 it's been nothing but a failure for the PS3, GT5 and 6 sold simply because of gorgeous graphics and brand loyalty or brand awareness but they're really average games at best. GTP is full of lists and posts of suggestions for easy fixes, of oversights and dumb design decisions and how to fix them, of tons and tons of constructive criticism yet PD only listen to half of it and spend the other half time in modeliing tracks nobody ever asked and cars nobody really cares about. The way PD and Kaz disregard their fanbase is incredible, yet they advertise GT as THE car racing game...when actually it's pretty far behind from the competition in anything but graphics (car count doesn't count anymore because MOST game assets are lazy re-hashes of previous-gen assets, something utterly unacceptable).

I insist, how can I consider "realistic" a game that makes a mess of its physics with every patch?

Kaz may be a heck of a car guy and a talented game designer, but don't try to sell him as the god of simracing and mimesis, and virtual reality bla bla bla, because he isn't. He's the manager of a really succesful franchise that's really in danger because it hasn't delivered anything worthy of it's tradition in the past decade or so.

Even though GT5 was disappointing to me, I'm really enjoying gt6.
We still have some issues, but in the end of the story GT6 is the only game I have this need to play every day.
I think the problem is that they are slow in developing the game, they need a larger team.

I'll watch it when I get home, I'm gonna try to understand the logic behind him and the current state of the franchise, if I don't get these questions answered it'll be a waste for me, nothing more but a marketing stunt.

Nothing is explained in the movie. Its basically an hour long ruse to get you to call the game art.

Hm... I guess I'll just watch it for the laughs and photography. I enjoy reading fanboy comments and laughing at them, I think I'm going to enjoy watching the biggest one of them all.

They don't need a larger team, they need to focus in the essence and the problems of the game, instead of wasting resources with the moon and the Goodwood Festival.

What the hell is wrong with Goodwood? Lmao... It's a short course that got can put any car on and provides good challenges

this movie is all just pretentious art house bs, that i absolutely love.
While it would be nice to see some behind the scenes at pd to see what really goes on, I think this film does a great job at kinda helping guide people in manners in which to view the game.
I've always considered Kaz to be more of an auteur instead of a game director.
He falls into like with people like Hideo Kojima, Hideki Kamiya, Miyamoto, ect. while we know about their games, we always hear their name. Same with film, you have people like kubrick, stone, scorsesse, fincher, scott, ect ect.
You rarely hear about the directors of NFS, Forza, F1, and those types of racing games.
He has a particular vision and fundamentals he will not stray from, but at the same time the game industry is a fickle beast. The game has had strong legs and a legacy, but the next couple of years will be interesting to see in which PD can endure.

I agree with the moon one but NOT Goodwood. All PD has to do is just add more events for that, simple. But nonetheless, it isn't a waste that some people will like to assume...

In my opinion Mr Kazunori thinks he has a great team that will do it all for him. So much self compliance. GT6 is just a patched GT5. I hope there are some alternatives for us in the future. Is GT6 a fraud? Kinda… :)

Well, other people will say whats wrong with the moon, its just my opinion, nothing more than that.
For me, Goodwood it's Point to Point very short, and you can see there are a lot of resources in it.
If there were no problems at all in the game, they could even put Mars in it that i don't mind.

About time on YouTube!!!! Hulu was an international mistake!

A TOTAL FAIL!!!!!

My rating: A-

Reason being for not being released on Youtube in the first place (flips at Hulu).

This is actually a pretty decent documentary. I'm kind of enjoying it. they talk about a lot of BS in there, but there are also some cool scenes where they show how GT has evolved and what new technology they are using and ish.

I'd give it a 7/10

Just finished watching KAZ.I thought it was absolutely brilliant.
I think Kaz and PD are creating a movement without realizing it.
Very few have his dedication to a single goal.

I remember after playing GT1 all those years ago I said I would follow and support PD/Granturismo to wherever it may go and today I still standby that.

After watching this, i can't wait for GT7. Hopefully his vision and dream will become fullfilled in the next gen. I hope our wishes (all premiumized cars, bikes, great sounds, amazing physics) will come true. With PS4, there is no reason for making the same mistake as 5 and 6.

A good watch, I would say though, its somewhat telling that kaz doesnt mention online racing... his focus definatly is now on vision gt, and not online multiplayer..

The docu clears up one thing that is heavily debated, Gran Turismo laser scans the tracks. Atleast from the GT6 additions.

REALLY? That's very suprising! I almost wanna watch it now, even though I said I never would.

Great docu. And as always the angry kids are flooding threads with hate.

Yes, "Big brother" is watching you. Yes, you'll end up in jail. No, you won't receive a "Get out of Jail for free" card.
