sorry. if they drove in the full nordschleife is very very good... and im wrong sorry..
i think that it was the full now... yes can explain why it take 10 min.. so kaz drove really fast...
sorry everybody, i didn't think about this....(the full one)

I wonder what Dan Greenawalt of T10 do after seeing this news? Let me guess, he's gonna race the 24hr Le Mans to out do Kaz then crash after the first turn? Hope not. :D

He might crash, but worry not! He has the rewind button!

But seriously - nice performance from Kaz, makes me want to "train" using GT5 even more (and I have yet to learn the Green Hell, so there are some happy hours for me in store : )).

Mr Yamauchi had only experienced 2 races prior to this in normal cars. In his first racing car, in his first international race, and competing on the Nurburgring for the first time, this achievement proves above all else that training within Gran Turismo is truly effective.

That's not necessarily true, he does do track days at Tsukuba & and other tracks. So, I really don't think this is proof that training with GT is as crucial as spending real seat time on a track.

Do they really think his result proves anything about the game? I mean, he has driven the Ring before this race, so it's not like it was brand new to him.

I dont know if this proves anything, but using the game is helpful in a way. You may not feel out the track as in real life but you can remember its lay out, and when to expect turns. I also i dont know if this means anything either, but look at the GT Academy folks. 💡

Um, wow.

Until I counted the cars on the tarmac - I thought this was a GT5 screen-grab! GT5 really does look photo-realistic If I was fooled even for a second or two! 👍

Dan Greenawalt couldn't beat anyone at the Nürburgring - even if he was the only racer on the track. ;)

Dan Greenawalt is the physical embodiment of a great quote I made a while back:

Black Chamber
"You sir, have bad luck. For example, you were entered as the goalie in a Soccer match. You showed up on the wrong day - and there was nobody else there and to make matters worse; you were defending the wrong goal."

Well, to be absolutely fair it's only been one blog and compared to other developers it's hardly worth getting excited about. if it continues however then it's about time. 👍

It was already posted here but I guess it deserve its own thread.

While at Nurburgring, Yamauchi said he was approached by countless GT fans, who asked him why he was adding damage to the series. "For many fans I spoke with," Yamauchi explained, "one reason they seemed to like Gran Turismo is that you cannot damage cars."

Please, tell me this is a translation error.

I believe in the future, gran turismo will be used for racecar drivers to practise the track and perfect the corners..

It's not. There's no way it could be. GT2 held my attention longer than any racing game I've played since, and it did it without damage, weather, etc.

Funny how people ask to mess with perfection.

GT2 had damage...

(just most of us turned it off because it was crap)

I dont know how you wouldnt want damage in a racing simulator, it just adds realism. Although I can see why they dont like seeing beautiful cars being smashed. I however do.
