In a few months, you'll be able to see if GT5 is worth the wait. Prologue is coming this fall.

how we will wait 2008 ??? :(

The same way we're waiting for sequels all these years :) These particular news was published in 2005 when 2007 seemed like "never", today is 2007 and 2008 isn't so far away... :D.

Jgda9rs told me, in a store, which he visited they said GT5 would be out in August, while Play.com now have GT5 down for the 30th of March 2008.

I don't even know why anyone bothers asking stores when GT5 will be out yet. They don't have a clue.

Jgda9rs just told me that for some fun, but I am just waiting until the true date comes out of the mouth of PD.

its pretty pointless getting too concerned with the release date of the game, even with the estimated release date of 2008 to early 2009, PD have a habit of delaying games for various reasons so i wouldn't be to starting your count down till at least prologue comes out.

how bout we just say it wont be out for another year so we can all sleep more soundly at night!

I know its a few months later, but what the hell.

ok, Sonzilla knows his stuff, so lets see if we cant get you guys to understand this.

A supercharger is a blanket term for forced induction system. The crankshaft driven type is the one which we commonly call a supercharger, while the exhaust driven type is called a turbocharger.

Superchargers are boost dependant on the rpm the motor is turning, so they will make power whenever the motor is turning. superchargers tend to be less efficient at making power then turbochargers because superchargers make power by taking it from the crank. Turbochargers due impede exhaust flow, and so do take some power to turn, but the medium they use would not otherwise be used to drive the car, so it actually steals less power from the car.

Lag is the term given to the time that it takes for there to be fast enough exhaust gase flow to drive the turbo fast enough to add power to the system. This however, with the technology Sonzilla mentioned earlier, and proper tuning is reduced to a minimum. This can also be reduced with twin turbochargers. Often in a twin turbocharger system a different sized turbos are used so the smaller turbo will spool up early and reduce lag while the larger one takes over at a higher rpm to raise the maximum power that can be made.

Due to turbos higher efficiency the ultimate power potential is higher than that of a supercharger.

These are summaries and exerpts from my 4000 word research paper.

lol sorry for bringing this back. Great way of summing it all up.

I don't know how many times I get asked this question with people thinking otherwise. This should be in the dictionary and should end allot of arguments.

The reason they do not use turbochargers in top feul dragsters and funny cars is simply rules restrictions.

Back on topic, 1yr is enough time for me to bulid up my PS3 GT5 room including 60inch HD moniter, full racing seat with the latest in gadgets .👍

I could agree with you more there, i have got a new steering wheel, cockpit and a HDTV, now all I need now is a good sound system and more importantly a PS3!

I was very surprised when I saw latest issue of Croatia "Auto Klub" magazine which came with the KY's interview about GT games and future of the series.

As majority of interview was related towards his past and work on previous incarnations of GT games, he stated that he "hopes that GT5 will be finished during 2007".

He also talked about fantastic sales of GT4 (more then 6 BigOnes), about his fascination with Nurburgring and he also stated that "GT5 will be 100 times more detailed then GT4". I take this "100 times" as part of journalist's freedom, but this way or another, this is the first glympse of the possible release date by KY so far.

Hope that TGS will answer more questions.

GT5 is set for November this year

Well, GT5 Prologue is set for November this year. Let's hope that it has a smörgåsbord of most of what will be in GT5. Whatever form it takes, I'm getting it, no matter what!

Like some people have already stated, there is an upside to having to wait another year or two for GT5.

I don't have a PS3 yet and would only really consider buying one to play GT5. So if I wait until 2007/2008 to buy one, it should be in its final incarnation and its cheapest price. This will also give me time to consider preparing a play area, upgrading my TV, buying racing peripherals etc. for my PS3.

Also, waiting means that you can spend the next few years doing other things rather than being addicted to a game.

Finally, the more time it takes to develop GT5 should translate into higher quality game and a better gaming experience for us all.

Patience my friends.

Well, a 20-30 car Prologue version would surely last us waiting for atleast another year, maybe two. And even longer if they would include the Nordschleife .... but they wont be doing that I am pretty sure. :guilty:

I am quite sure Nordschleife will be included in GT5, Kaz is very fond of the track.

when the Prologe demo is available for download later this year I hope they include some sourght of paint/colour customisation preview in it.Tyre width and wheel diameter customisation would be a nice feature as well.
Also,if not in Prologe but the full version of GT5 they must include tyre skid marks on the track.
They have no excuse for hardware power this time.

i miss the Complex String when we're talking about tracks :) i'm glad we have to wait so i have time to earn money to buy ps3 :)

I agree,I fail to find a good reason to buy a ps3 until we have something solid as a release date, first stop for me is forza 2 :) bring on may 25th.

What I meant to say was my 360 will see me through lol.

Me to, I used to spend hours on the Complex String tuning all my cars. I hope they bring it back for GT5.
