Kazunori Yamauchi Receives Honorary Doctorate Degree from University of Modena & Reggio Emilia

I exaggerated huh? I thought I asked legitimate questions, which you didn't answer. So I take it that people are upset about it, but why? What does it matter? Did he steal the award from someone more deserving? Is this only awarded to one person? Is him receiving an award a problem? What about him speaking about PD's way of replicating car physics? Is that bad? These are legitimate questions, not exaggerations like your claim.
You didn't understand my post then I take it. I completely dispelled all of your questions because they're based on a false assumption, that is, that people are upset. Try not to assume what emotions other people may or may not be feeling when they are posting.

People aren't upset? Reading the comments above it looks like people are upset. That is not the same thing as "mad". Upset can mean disappointed, not happy etc. Maybe you just read these comments differently than I did

Just my thoughts. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but handing this award over to Kaz in 2017 is almost a joke.

Butchers GT and gets a doctorate :banghead:

bam·boo·zle
/bamˈbo͞ozəl/

verb
informal
verb: bamboozle; 3rd person present: bamboozles; past tense: bamboozled; past participle: bamboozled; gerund or present participle: bamboozling
  1. fool or cheat (someone).
"Kaz bamboozled the neighborhood boys into getting a doctorate for him"
    • confound or perplex.
"bamboozled by the number of savings plans being offered"

People can have opinions, just like I can ask why it's even an issue? And if it is an issue, what does it mean for us?

You want to turn the conversation from the ball to the man. If you disagree with something just quote it and make your point. Trying to guess the emotional state or motivation for a post is an exercise in futility.

Are people upset about this or something? Is it only for one person in the world? Did Kaz steal it from a more deserving person? I legitimately don't get why this is a problem or even a big deal to the average person. What does it change?
I doubt anyone is losing sleep over it.
IMO, as others have already said, it is kind of humorous to give him the award in 2017. After the release of Gran Turismo 3 or even Gran Turismo 4? Maybe. But in 2017, when Kaz's series is in a steady state of decline? Meh.

Almost nothing has changed simulation wise since GT5, when the new engine was made for the PS3.

That's not what I did. I actually first asked "are people upset?". Looking at the comments some seem to be. But I got an answer so I don't need to reply to you since you weren't one who seemed that way. But I could ask you too, if you don't like it, what does it mean for us? Are they medaling/awarding mediocrity? Are other developers going to see this and feel like their efforts are in vain? I don't know, that's why I asked. So if you have nothing to add to that, I'll end the conversation 👍.

I feel a big difference between this and GT6. That's just me. But I don't know if the award is going to make a difference for people's preference, honestly.

How so? I am curious. To me the physics feel very familiar.
In GT6 a lot of the cars felt the same. But in GTS I can feel a difference between front engine, mid engine etc. I can also feel weight and downforce come on with speed. Try turns 11-13 at Interlagos. You can feel the cars put on more downforce as you get faster through the turn. Especially so in a GT3 car.

Honorary degrees are pretty meaningless so I don't care one way or the other. They are a marketing exercise first and foremost IMO, a way to draw attention to the institution.

A lot of the cars were the same in GT6. There are only so many differences between sedans from different manufacturers with similar drivetrains, weight and power. Having said that, even in GT5 and GT6 I had no trouble at all telling the various drivetrains apart, the differences in handling were stark and unmistakeable. Anything you can actually "feel" in GTSport could just be better FFB and not necessarily better physics.
