Look at the deigns from other memebers and learn from them(not steal from them) and try new things and see where it will take you.

Im not great at copying others I just wanted some tips to build something of my own that can at least get to the moon.

BTW is this not a game and thus in the wrong section?

Thanks for bumping this thread as I downloaded it yesterday and stayed up quite late, this game is really fun. I have managed to get into space with quite a small rocket, just wish there was an objective or goal.

There will be missions in future although all future versions will need paying for.
For now the most often done mission is get to the moon and back.

The reason why this is in the Computer forum is that at the time of making the thread, the Console and PC Games section (I thought) was a bit dead and I thought that it would appeal more to people who read in this section.

However, as the PC section is getting more traffic it does seem that my original placing of this thread is a bit suspect.

You killed them. Thats not nice.

My friends who play this however say parachutes are for chumps.

Anyway some tips? I want to get to the moon.

And show me the space shuttle if you would be nice please.

And is it me or are the Kerbals kinda cute.

I have been able to get to the moon and get into its orbit and if I had been more skillful I'm pretty sure I had enough fuel to get back. I did it by orbiting kerbin in an ellipse which passes the orbit of the moon and by the 2nd ellipse the moon was very close so I adjusted my trajectory with the rocket to slow down.

Nope. If you fire stacked solids, thrust from the upper rockets destroy the lower ones.

You can make your own/edit the existing solids relatively easily though, find the folder for the solid rockets in the parts\ folder in your installation directory, open the .cfg and change the thrust = xyz line as required. I found a link to a parts pack on Facepunch a while ago that has a Shuttle-esque huge orange fuel tank, a 5-in-1 liquid engine, solids that are a lot larger and some extra stuff - so far I've found that those extra parts are all I've needed to design some zany rockets :)

What about 3000+ mp/s because of my edits? Thanks to you.

0.15 just came out, introducing Spaceplanes and a new moon of Kerbin called Minmus. I installed a missile mod, put a rocket on the launch pad, got in a armed plane, and blew up the rocket.

Have you ever wanted to go to space, but couldn't afford a rocket? Wanted to fly across the globe, but didn't have the fuel? Wanted to ever drive your own rover (That you designed!) on the Moon(Mün in this game)? Well, in Kerbal Space Program, you can do this, and whole ton more. Everything that your mind can come up with.

It's an early-alpha sandbox game, currently version 0.22, but even then, it's still a whole ton of fun. You'll be hooked for hours, trying to work out if you have enough fuel for the Mün, or trying to fiddle with your orbit to Eeloo. If that's something you like, try this game now!

You don't even have to be scientific! You can just go and do something completely crazy, and try put something like this in orbit!

And there must be a million mods for this game, if you ever get bored anyways. The developers are so modding friendly, it's almost crazy. People are just modding what the developers plan to add in, like mining resources, life support, re-entry heat and other ''serious'' things. But there is also a silly side, like lasers, bombs and lights!
Right here you can get the game for $27, but do it now, as the price will increase for the next couple of updates! And the community members are some of the best I've ever seen! (Along with GTP).

There is actually already a thread on this: https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/threads/kerbal-space-program.214793/

However, it's in the Computers & Technology forum which is the wrong place. Perhaps a mod can move and merge?

I play it every so often. Not seriously enough to see how far I can get or achieve orbit as some people have (God knows how). I do like to just cobble something together and see how it does.

I don't know what I'm doing, either :P I just turn at 10k KM and then just gradually turn from there. Works most of the times.

I'm debating getting this or something else. I'm on a basic lap-top and looking at this, Automation, and a couple of others. Tried the demo, but it's very limited.

Just a heads up, KSP is currently £9.59 from GameFly with their current code 'GFDNOV20UK'. I'd still wait and see what Steam's price will be when it's inevitably in a daily or flash sale though.

Awesome game. I've spent more time making planes than rockets, but I got so good at it the two basically merged. I now specialize in making SSTOs.

Not to say I haven't played around with rockets enough. I have a six module space station orbiting, a few things on the Mün, a trip I took to Duna, and even a tour ship around Jool. These were all done with my hilariously overpowered Mün lander.

Started playing more seriously now there is a career mode. I've done suborbital flights and lots of experiments. I'll do an orbital flight tonight

Only if you know exactly what you're doing and build a perfect space craft each time!

*edit*
Oh. My God.

There is a KSP SMP server!! I'm setting one up now if anyone wants to join me. :)

*edit2*
And it's up! You'll need to mod your client. http://kerbalspaceport.com/kmp-client/

Take a backup first in case it corrupts your saves. You need a clean unmodded client to connect. The server address is play.torinet.eu

Let me know if it works. You should see an orbiter and satellite currently orbiting Kerbal.

*edit3*
No one seems to have noticed yet so I'll alert some people!

@Grayfox @neema_t @Borna12345 @Rykon Zero @L8erBaby @haitch40 @Submerged @vfrmaverick @Exorcet @tuga703

Can you test it out? It's on my dedicated machine so, if it works and you guys enjoy it, I'll keep it up 24/7. :)

Ok, I have the game actually on Steam, just hadn't actually played around with it yet.

It's certainly gotten more complex than when I last seen it in 2012!

Will take me quite some time to get into it and see what works and doesn't work before I can go to the server, I think.

Well, it's a tad buggy, but it works remarkably well. I'm curious if you guys can see the plane I just built.

I'll have to check when I get home. Did you see my satellite, shuttle and space station?
