Lack of Xbox One gameplay footage pre-release = feeling of deja vu

I don't know, none of us have seen Forza on the standard Xbox. We do run and play wonderfully on it though.

Open another thread :) And say hi to your friends at Turn 10 from me.

My friends at Turn 10? I think you are mistaking me for someone else.
I play all racing games, on both consoles and PC, I have no affiliation with any Game Developers.

Just in my experience PC1 runs a lot worse on XB than it does on PS4, it's like two completely different games...and that was foretold pre launch by the absolute lack of any XB gameplay footage, the launch of PC2 is feeling very much the same...hence the thread title

Are you indicating I've said something off?? :)

Does it 'run' better than Forza??.... Does it 'Play' better should be the question.

Fair enough. It's pretty much a steady 60 FPS at all times since patch 3 which we shipped 2 years ago. But if it 'runs' worse then that would be us hitting the limits of the machine.

Only 6,5 Days till it unlocks for me.

I will then see whats up. Just hope we get fields of Cars as big as in PC1 and my TX wheel working properly. But Thrustmaster is probably the biggest shareholder in the steering wheel Market so im not too worried.

PC1 plays well on Xbox , however it runs like garbage, all stuttering and hesitating .....Runs lovely on PS4 though

This really isn't the case. Since patch 3, 2 years ago we moved code off of the shared core that caused issues when there was a high audio overhead. pCARS1 is absolutely not 'all stuttering and hesitating' on Xbox.

I'll reinstall it then, thanks

If I remember rightly Oulton Park was a particularly bad Frame rate dropping track, I've definitely not played the updated build as I got truly fed up with it within a few weeks of launch especially in a market with so many other games to spend my precious spare time on (Not just racing games but other genres too).

I will reinstall it as soon as I get home, and give it a fresh shot if I get a few hours free time on Sunday.
Thank you Ian

Worst case scenario (Monaco, wet, full field) from Digital Foundry, showing a lack of stuttering and hesitation. We worked really hard to achieve that despite framerate drops. The physics and rendering are completely decoupled also meaning we maintain 600Hz physics regardless of framerate.

been at work for a couple of hours and catch up all the postst I missed this morning (CET).

@chris4652009 : lucky you what a privilege! A personal troubleshooting of PCars1/XB of one of the SMS Execs. Who can say that?
Which other company exec takes the time/effort to do this during happy hour? Keep that in mind :)
No kidding

I just ran a race at Oulton Park with a full grid of formula rookies (the only car I can handle with a pad) and thunderstorm conditions on the XB1 and didn't notice any major issues apart from a few frame rate drops and my lack of talent in the rain.

I'm not to worried about how PC2 will perform as much as I am about controller support, which seems improved on PC at least. Having said that, I would love to have the option to lock it at 30 FPS if a steady 60 can't be obtained.

Possibly slightly off-topic,
Have you guys physically tested out different (multiple) wheels on each platform version to ensure that everything is working well?

Not for the purpose of insulting, but I ask because it's pretty clear nobody plugged a G920 into an Xbox and drove PC1 on default settings and said "yeah, that feels good"

Better than locked 60fps 1080p on Xbox one? Props if so.

I enjoy your arrogance too.

Don't take everything I say 'very' seriously :) I like to meet a challenge with a bit of intentional drama...

And we are 1080p (dynamic), but never locked for many reasons I've outlined before - Our physics and rendering are completely decoupled and live bridged. So if our frame rates drop to say 40's in heavy rain, 32 cars, mixed field, dynamic weather and time of day, the physics continue to tick at 600 hz. We also have no stutter or tearing to talk of. I think it's by far a better solution than borking the content in terms of detail or features to hit a 'fixed 60' that has no effect on physics.

I cannot speak for the PS4 version, but have 'heard' that it looked and played really nice. However, this humble little Xbox gamer really loved the Xbox game on the version 10 patch. The game ran very smooth for me in the varied dynamic conditions I threw at it, and rarely saw stuttering or much frame rate slowdown. Considering how much the game was trying to do (unlike the baked conditions at Forza) I thought that very respectable.

I had issues with setting up a sweet control pad feeling but did get there after watching a bunch of Youtube vids. So all in all the game was a nice effort that will be greatly improved upon here.

You just said you no longer have a PS4 last month, GT Sport isn't worth the hype and Project Cars is terrible.
What do you run on PC?
Sorry, I'm very confused.

All I know is I got a chance to play PC2, FM7, and GT Sport at PAX a couple weekends ago and came away enjoying PC2 the most. So much so that I came home and preordered.

Yes, out of the box control work on Xbox I'll take as a mighty cock-up on our part. Just before shipping final code we made a tiny change to input filtering that ended up causing the control to centre if you went from extent to extent quickly as a side effect of what we were trying to do...

And of course the amount of fiddling required to get it feeling acceptable (fixed I promise!).

So yes, that was 'very' bad and I'm praying we never repeat something like that.

Gonna take that as a "nope".

With the amount of people that complain about fps drops, and none of that happening to FH at 30fps, I have to side with everyone on the "lock it" side of fps.

I think some people notice frame issues more easily than others, and it is pretty noticeable to me.
