LCD side mirors: how, what, where?

Ha ha, good point! I was thinking more of the rear view mirror in the middle, which I've just realised is rare in race cars anyway. I'll sit back down.

Plus.to get the angle right for that to work you would see the shadows on your screen from the mirrors which would take away the realism. Anyways, I think this is the video you are refering to:

This is exactly what we need

Ummm yeah, so what. If you look at the video, because of the angle of the projector, the mirror shadows are down low you don't even notice them. I think this is the best and easiest solution. You're using keystone and software to correct the image like Image Display Pro and the shadows are down low and you have mirrors. :D

But this method is extremely restrictive (although practical) to inch perfect placement of projector and cockpit for this to work properly. Plus my cockpit was going to be on casters to roll in and out of the closet so I could use my expensive home theater projector as a movie theater as well...oh well, this will probably be the way I will have to start out with until there is a better way to do LCD mirror screens easier.
Edit: I just thought of a way to do this and still be able to roll it in and out quickly. Using a cheap laser level or pointer and pinting it at fixed points drawn on the wall, plus small dots on the ground, shouldnt be too much of an issue to get the mirrors lined up quickly

Is it possible on any racing programs to have a second (or 2nd &3) screen that displays something different than the cockpit view? I.e. A different view from which you could press the rear view button (and get a non-momentary switch so you don't need to hold the button)

And I think this might have been suggested in more techy-speak, but isn't there a program where you can have 2 more screens, with the identical display as the first? And then use a program to 'capture' only the part of the screen that shows the rear view mirror? (or even the left/right halves of the mirror)

I must admit, I've always been amazed that non of the 'sims' offer this option. The rear view is effectively just another camera angle. If I knew the tecchie side of things I'd have a go myself :D

I need this badly now for the GT cockpit. Its basically the last piece of the puzzle. Has there been any advancement on this in the years since this post? I know it can be done because I see companies on YouTube with similar simulators and they have LCD screens for rear view mirrors running a rear view. I email them but they don’t respond.

any help pointing me in the right direction would be appreciated. I need a separate feed to a separate small lcd to act as a rear view mirror.
