Inspired by the announcement of the Drayson Lola electric car (http://green.autoblog.com/2012/01/1...nts-850-hp-electric-racer-at-low-carbon-raci/) I thought it might be interesting to run a race at Le Mans with cars on GT5 with similar specs and with the advantages and disadvantages of those cars as well.
There will be three different class of cars the first being the equivalent of a real life LMP1 with as close to real life power and weight on RS tyres pitting a single time. The second is the equivalent of the new Lola electric with 850hp but with a disadvantage of having 100kg ballast and also having to pit twice. The final class is a classic Group C car tuned to maximum power (1040hp!) but with the disadvantage of not being able to pit and using the much slower hard tyres.
I've done some test runs over 6 laps and got the following times:
Equivalent of a real life LMP1: Peugeot 908 (550hp) 3 lap stints RS tyres = 22:13
Equivalent of the Lola electric: Peugeot 908 (850hp / 100kg ballast) 2 lap stints RS tyres = 21:43 (lost around 12 seconds through mistakes)
Group C using hard tyres: Minolta (1040hp) 6 lap stint RH tyres = 22:22 (1 minute slower on the last lap)
So some slight tweaking with the cars is needed but I reckon the following would be roughly right:
Equivalent of a real life LMP1: Peugeot 908 (700hp) 3 lap stints RS tyres.
Equivalent of the Lola electric: Peugeot 908 (850hp / 100kg ballast) 2 lap stints RS tyres.
Group C using hard tyres: Minolta (1040hp) 6 lap stint RH tyres.
If enough people are interested I can start making arrangaments for dates to run the event.
