Le Mans to Run a Virtual 24-Hour Race in Place of the Real Thing

It's not his PC, it's his internet connection. Whenever I go back to the UK I'm utterly shocked at how far behind the UK is in terms of internet connectivity.
And yet so many Formula 1 teams run live data from UK to/from the track at any given weekend. Somehow they get the good internet lol

The presentation on this race is the best I've seen, really well put together. Just a shame that it's not an all driver event and we have gamers on the grid, it kind of spoils the immersion when you're watching people you've never heard of.

I doubt McLaren's Technology Centre and Lando's house are on the same broadband plans. :embarrassed:

Outside of some excessively rural places, in national parks or otherwise remote locations, FTTC is available in 98.6% of the UK, and 96.7% of households can receive more than 24Mbps (with a basic price of about £25 a month for that). The UK median download bandwidth is 41.5Mbps.

That's plenty for online racing. I seriously doubt that Norris has internet bandwidth issues.

Then why does he get disconnected so often?

RF2's just shown its balls on stream. *slow clap*

Wonder what kind of issues they experience, all cars seem on tract...

All participants should be locked into their gamer rigs for the full duration n the last one to pit in their pants wins.

Yes, but they get money from the sponsor.

Red flag/connection issues are a pity... it's been a good event that has captured the essence of the real thing, but it must be very frustrating for those whose races have been disrupted by connection issues.

The commentary team have done a good job of trying to compare disruptions in the virtual experience to the kinds of disruptions and events that occur in the real race, but may be they just went a bit too far when discussing the fact that two drivers in one team can't continue (and thus not reach the minimum 4 hour threshold) - they said 'it is just like a driver in real life slipping in the shower and physically not being able to continue, except this time it's like two drivers slipping in the same shower at the same time...'

... oookkkkayy....

GTE is always a class of curious situations, Corvette almost become a Porsche sandwich:) Unlucky Ferrari, can't make a move.

Wow... I guess all lost for AF Corse...
