Left GT5 for some time on other driving games... but now back to GT5

I took a break from GT5 for a few days and played some other racing games: NFS Shift, Grid, F1 2010, and it felt good for a while to play something other than GT5. But then the driving physics just seemed to annoy me with how wrong they feel. I came back to GT5 today and realized (again) what it is that makes GT5 so great. The graphics aren't exactly great, the damage physics is pretty much non-existant, but the feel of the driving is easily the best of any other game out there... glad to be back playing GT5 :-)

I play driving games on all platforms and GT5 still feels the best to me. Forza is fantastic in it's own ways, Ferrari Challenge, Race Experience and Supercar Challenge are all great as well as many others, but I always come back to GT5 and it feels more realistic to me than anything else currently on the market, excluding some PC sims.

SomeWipeout Fury helps.

But really, anything arcade can put my mind to rest from time to time. Wish SEGA hadplans for a current gen Outrun.

An updated Outrun? Hmm. There was a version on the PSN Store in Europe, but not available in the US? Not sure why. I've been tempted a few times to get Daytona, but not sure it's worth the current price.

Outrun was pulled off the PSN Store due to their Ferrari lisence expiry.

I feel the same way. There are so many things that I find myself griping about with GT5, but in the end, I always end up coming back for the physics.

I find myself going back to some of the old Genki titles like Kaido extreme racer or C1 Battle (and wangan midnight) :3

I went from GT5 to another game as well. I came back to GT5 but didnt have the same feelings you did. I do think its the best racer on any console though. Only thing that has me coming back is I've already built a good group of friends to race with.

I only play GT5 when friends want me to. I don't think it's the best console racer, but it's alright. Kind of boring.

I was going to get back into GT5 after trading it with my friend for MW3 after a month but my PS3 broke(again). I'm too lazy to fix it or get it fixed so it's just sitting around, collecting dust. The next batch of DLC will probably be enough motivation for me to get it fixed though.

My rouine of driving games over the last several years is -
GT4 (2 years)
FM2 (6 months)
Ferrari Challenge (3 months)
GT5P (1 year)
Shift 1 (3 months)
Forza 3 (2 months)
GT5 still playing.

That was the ps2 Outrun. They should make a new one. Or even better, release Pazer Dragoon in HD!

I'm like many of u guys. This is a fantastic sim, it has it's flaws. I have unfortunately, played it so much since it first came out, I am slowing down considerably. I spend more time in the two forums then I do on the actual game.

My second fav racing game is the Test Drive Unlimited series. Nothing like cruising for hours and hours on those islands. I enjoy pretty much all racing games *Forza, PGR, Shift, Hot Pursuit, F1 2011, Dirt, Grid*. Gran Turismo 5 is clearly the racing game Ive played the longest out of any racing game ever. I think GT3 is a close second.
