Yeah when I tried to email them using the support links, it told me that they can't take emails because they were too busy or something like that. You can directly send an email to this address:
help@uk.playstation.com

Make sure to include your psn id and the associated email address, because they'll probably ask it and that will take up to a few days of emails back and forth lol.

Thanks, I've sent them an email now. I'm sure were still too few to take serious, but heres hoping.

No problem :) I sent a direct email to that adress without using any proper support links, and that was the first thing they asked me :)
So I hope they let us know sometime next week on what the problem is with GT5 updates, and I got my fingers crossed that they will tell us something. If no emails from them by the end of next week, well I send them another nice email.

But know one knows why, so that is not the answer.

True, but it's been an issue for a long while now (not just for GT5), and they haven't responded.
This leaves me with little hope.

It's probably a technical issue which isn't deemed important enough for resource allocation to fix it.

The more people that send emails to them and also ring to complain about this, is called People Power may win this.

What Sony is doing is just awful, there's no excuse. A lof of the games from the PS3 era will be unplayable without the day 1 patch and I bet that the list of unavailable patches will only expand in the upcoming months.

Today psn support got back to me. This time it was a specialist and they wanted me to explain the issue again and let them know if other games are affected too. So I told them again in detail, named some of the games from that psnprofiles thread and I actually linked to that thread. I told them that this is a widespread issue that's affecting lots of games and players and it prevents access to online features and sometimes dlc's so it should be addressed.

I agree with @fordlaser here. Support can't fix this issue on their own, but the more people report it, it'll be more likely to be acknowledged by Sony and then maybe they'll decide to do something about it.

Well of course they might have permanently lost all the updates, I can't know that. But if that's the case, it'd be better if we knew about it.

I hope that it's just a server issue that can be fixed and will be fixed...

I hope they fix what ever the problem is, because if they do something like this and not tell us, is not a good look on Sony part.

Sony must have server problems because it is only on selected games, because GT6 updates are fine to download.

OMG me too! Version 2.17 available to update!

We did it guys!!!

A lot of news outlets picked up this after the list of unpatchable games was published on psnprofiles, so that probably did it.

oh and is there any special procedures to install the update, because ive been browsing youtube and this forum and i saw a lot of people saying that it failed or something
It will fail if you download the updates all at once, I always do about 6 updates at a time and I have no issues doing that way.
