Hit a bit of a wall now. Avoiding GVH1 so spending my week in Spain. Can't find the speed everyone else can with the GT-R so going through alternatives. The Ferrari has been fastest for me in practice but not a great race car. Still managed to squeeze out a few results, but now as an SR S driver again I'm in the familiar position of being filler for dirty lobbies of the DR level above. Switched to the Genesis and managed to find a few tenths but still starting near the back, and it's quite rough back there.

I don't know whether to persevere and attempt to gain the DR necessary to jump a level and get back into mainly SR S lobbies, or just park it for the weekend and see what Monday brings.

Anyway, the feeling is familiar, but I have learnt to take the stance of "every race can be good learning". If you are with a gang of thugs you will learn about the art of avoidance. If you are among equals, I have found Catalunya to be awesome for learning to drive at extremely close proximity.
If I really feel disgusted about the lobbys I am in, sometimes I go to my secondary account which usually has a lower SR, so I will still be driving in a mixed bag (read: chaos), but I will be relaxed, knowing that I am not tanking my SR.
I definitely always stay with one race for the week, because I feel I learn more by immersion in one track.

I’m finding the same, very hard building up my DR this week, so I have just left it as - any racing I get I’ll take, and hope it’s of a good standard, seems at the moment the higher you get the worse the drivers are!

But watch barneys lap replay, the GTR for me is a nice drive at least when you hook it all up
 
Are there no A/S drivers? Weird question, I know, but this happened:
Things was going well at Catalunya in top B/S. The last couple of races in DR B was actually super chill because I was in P1-3 and we all just wanted it smooth. Then I hit the mixed A/B group and survived it well, but next race was like hitting a brick wall: 11 (eleven) A+ drivers and 5 A drivers at the bottom. Like, whaaaat? Next race was marginally better with "only" 9 A+ drivers. Needless to say I stayed at the bottom of those races.
Is my "problem" that my QT is too good, so coming from B, I basicly skip the A drivers and get to race the A+ folks? (Not sure how it this works.)

Means that you are getting close to reaching A+ yourself. Keep at it... It has nothing to do with you QT.
 
Yeah there's this sorta gulf in the American rooms. Two weeks in a row where in BS rooms I am running away with wins driving at 9/10ths then I get promoted to P14 in A+/A rooms and wringing it's neck for 11th. Pace is really hot, guys are good, I remember in GT SPort if I could get within 2% or so of the fastest time I'd be jostling for wins in A rooms, not anymore, that's top of B now.

Again managed to get my QT down to 1.49.2xx at Catalunya and I think that’s me done, will be race only trim this weekend I reckon

I've crossed the line at 1.48.7 three times, each time with a penalty for track limits by absolute mm.

Absolutely not. These were my first two races in A. And I am going back to B as we speak.😁 It must have been some freak coincidence of only A+ drivers online at that time.🤷🏻‍♂️

I happens sometimes a lot in the US servers as the player base is less or at least spread time wise so large etc.

Edit there is also the proper GTWS going on so a lot more A+ peeps will be racing generally etc.

Did 5 daily C's at Grand Valley this morning :

Race 1 : started P10, ended P12.
Got punted during the first stint, lost 10 sec (the guy got a 5 sec penalty, I passed him right after).
Then believe it or not, I got a 3 seconds penalty for crossing the white line on pit entry :lol:quite an achievement as the pit entry on Grand Valley is practically a straight line :)

Race 2 to 5 :
started P8 or P9 and made it to top 5, every race :cheers:

I find that race really pleasant, from the track layout (certainly in my top 5 of GT original circuits), to the racing it provides (many spots to overtake + most folks are really clean racers and willing to leave space) and the tyre strategies too.

To my surprise , I'm slowly approaching DR A (B bar is like 3/4 full), hope I can make it there sometime in 2025 :cheers:

Curious if the A/A+ folks in your room were below SR S? It seems when you move up a level, the first rooms you encounter are loaded with lower SR folks. In a way this makes sense, as those with lower SR that are at the bottom of their current DR range represent entry point zero for the next level up.

That combined with available player pool and, yeah, you get some challenging/weird lobbies...and what a horrible freakin' way to reward your progress. 🤣

It's so weird how A and B drivers get mixed up in certain lobbies. Back in 2023 when I was at a mid level C rank, I would get in lobbies with B and D drivers. You'd think all lobbies would be equal, the A,B,C and D drivers. It would make the sport mode races easier and not so stressful. Sometimes I don't understand PD's logic and mechanism of the game, sigh. Why are you going back to a B? You must have finished a few races in 8-14th position, that will tank your DR some.

@newmedia_dev it looked to me like he hit you on purpose, it might have not been the new physics.

That's why if anything like that happened to me, I would not say anything to the opponent in the chatroom after the race ends because it could piss him/her off. I just have to get over it and move on. I mean it's just a game, not reality.

And I bet the race pace was noooo where near that, this is the thing with GR4 now is that the margins in QT and race are much tighter. So the grids are going to be stacked like this yes it’s DR and SR first but then ordered by QT so don’t let anyone tell you QT doesn’t matter, that’s the sorting part not the selection part of the query.

Honestly it’s daunting at first but in these races separated by one or 2 seconds in a condensed start and fairly track limit intensive track, you’ll gain DR, I bet some of them quit (tank DR for GTWS tomorrow) some of them got multiple pens etc.

It’s how we move forward, same as the guys coming up from C to B, B to A, A to A+ etc

I’m in two minds about posting this.

I’m racing to keep my SR high and make sure I’m in a decent-ish lobby for A to more for the GTWS and just had a race where Calster and Lewis went from the back in non meta cars, they didn’t do particularly well and I can’t speak for Calster Lewis was a bit of unit, I get he’s fast and A+ but drive like your racing with normal A/B people who just can’t drive like you?

Anyways to add insult to injury being caught up with them I finish last, but I don’t because they are just sitting waiting for everyone to finish. What’s the bloody point other than trolling. Why screw my race when it all gets busy and complicated as they are racing through. It’s just really not classy and bad form in my opinion.

I am only at Race C... There is something that nearly spoilt gr4 to me. I know, that it doesnt matter the car, track or weather, doing 110 km/h or 68 hamburgers/footballfield in a stretched corner, with the tyres screaming never feels slow...--on Monday i practiced at GranpaValet race C. To finish the day, i tool the nsx to Cataluňa. Mi impresionó que pareciera que estaba viendo una película mexicana 🤭(as if i was in a mexican movie), the looks were great.. But my car didnt move, it felt like i am stuck at 2gear..i then loaded a ghost, it seemed to had the same issues. The difference gt3 - gt4 plus the nature of the 2 tracks was to much for my brain to comprehend. I have my fastest lap in the AMG"20, (tried it, because someone promoted it here 👍) but only 1:50.040.. I seriously in need of a new controller 😔..... BUUT, i also have something INTERESTING i was waiting for a screenshot of the final time, from a DR A or high B room. I am sure, it is my lack of intellect but i cant see where i am wrong..

1st an DR A - time 9.16.xxx...
While i just finished a race in monza in DR D (monza hit me hard - down from low b in 3-4races) ,
1st DR D 9:24.xxx... (can't remember the times but it was 8 sec. difference. In the Dr A race, the 5TH would have *theoretically * finished in the DR Drace only 3rd. I am really confused, even though i already thought it is hilarious how hard some DR D races have been.
... To me, it sums up. DR A was like 1.52'seconds faster per lap than the DR D driver... But what i dont understand is, how the whole field, could end up mixed with Dr D? Or, do i get put up against very strong Dr D, because mostly my quali time is worthy a Dr B or close.? ... When i remember myself on the track against all A (been there done that) and how embarrassing it was... well noone of the drivers ever saw me, cause they were all gone, after t1. That honestly, is bothering me.. Sorry for the long post 🥔, a patata as an excuse.... Oh and i had a lot of fun at GValley, because surprisingly fair drivers, mostly been hit by someone slipping or a grey ferrari crossing from left to right like on an intersection (sand, spun, didnt break, everybody hurt) not ghosted at all..... I try to improve my quali now

I had a very similar one in the same spot but ended up in and out the pit lane (with 3 second penalty of course :ouch: )

I owe you a virtual beer for that race we were in :cheers: I've had pretty much the same people all week - that guy on pole wins every time! Overall, some incredibly close and tense races today - 4 seconds from P1 to P12 in the last one - a 1 second penalty is very costly!

There are some really weird things occasionally though. I got blasted off at turn 3/4 - convinced it was some kind of revenge punt going on behind, but looking at the replay, it was just a minor touch from a car 2 cars back causing a light tap to me from the car behind. Both their cars hardly moved, but my car was launched like a cannonball 🫤

Had the same at Monza last week - minor contact from behind but my car was blasted across the first chicane, then you get that ridiculous reset to about 200m back 😭

I wonder how B would have been with a mandatory pitstop this week 🤔 at least PD got the length of the race a bit better.
 
I tried Daily Race C only woth the Hyundai coupe, for it to become shambles as someone rammed me into the pit wall barrier on lap 5 which was geniusly dumb move by "that" driver. Cost me places and me making me make the wrong choice of tyre ending up 13th place overall, oh joy!

Well that might be the true issue with the game

People thinking they have been hard punted outa town when it is some random glitch at play

Well, the most positive thing was that you did not finish dead last because that would have really hurt your DR, it's annoying when opponents ram people off the track just to be mean and want to gain higher positions during the race. Don't let it get you down, just keep trucking on. Don't give up...

I rarely do C races now, some are very long and you have to pit at least 1 time in some events, it fluctuates each week. Can't believe this game is over 3 years old, see time flies when we're all having fun racing with real folks from all over the world.
 
So, I’ve been fighting all week through DR C, haven’t had time for too many races, maybe 2 per day, had a few wins, not celebrating them really because I’m just passing 😁

Seriously, the moment I’m in BS, fighting in the top 5, the dirtiness comes out, really BS drivers, we can’t trade places and crack on trying to gain.

This is painful.

This is exactly the reason I have pulled the plug on this game for the time being. Until they sort out the driving standard and the penalty system I am out. All that was happening was me becoming part of the problem and that isn't what I want at all. Didn't even bother with the GTWS today after a complete **** show on Wednesday. Am sticking with iRacing for the foreseeable future until something changes in gt7

What’s Iracing like, still got Kia, mx5, spec racer races etc, anything decent in the touring racing there? I’ve an account which has about 50% of the stuff, even remember winning a spec racer race at lime rock back in the days when I played on pc

I have been doing a good bit of Gt4's at the Canadian GP venue this week as well as racing the Toyota GR86 at Spa and multi class at Charlotte Roval. I love it, I am not in anyway competitive but I love the fact that it's for the most part very clean racing. I think that when you are having to pay for the content then the onus is on you to race fair in order to get the best from it. The Gt4 category is fantastic to be fair. I love GT7 but it's just become an absolute chore, the penalty system is completely broken...issues this week with my ffb just finished me off along with the shocking standards in the GTWS races on Wednesday.
