i haven't quite figured out when intermediates are desirable. It could just be that they are the safe route for either condition. Until the track is fully saturated, slicks are usually faster.

good luck racers!

any advice on tires?

if it's spitting out, but there's no backspray, does that still affect dry tires?
or is that the kind of weather for racing intermediates?

We ran a few practice laps in rain. once it starts the softs last 2ish laps b4 danger danger. id then hop right for rain...why risk sliding off at 150 mph on straight?? hopefully we're all closer together...last night was a letdown with early pileup involving half the field. chuyler...12 laps for race?

12 sounds good...we'll confirm when we see the fastest lap time during practice.

Should we do anything special for qualifying or just let it be? I could reset the track at 9:50 and have everyone run one warm-up and one timed lap...or we can just go with PD's poor excuse for qualifying.

Why don't you record qualifying times, then have the race start, and let everyone get in a double file line once we reach turn 2?

We made it through half the lap before the accident. We'd have to be willing to go single file for quite a bit longer to avoid mishap. Top qualifying time last night was 4'27 but the majority of the pack was probably 4'31-33.

it still puts us all together. With a course this narrow at places...there is really no where to hide. Then it turns to nighttime and the real fun begins.

(Sounds like the beginning to the next Chris Hansen story)

le mans should be the safest track we race at it only takes some patience . the race is more than one lap long and you cant win it on the first lap .

so just remember ...
BE CAREFUL OUT THERE

I agree with you, but stuff happens. You'll see soon enough. :indiff:

It started raining during qualifying and the race started with about 80% saturation. It stayed that way through 75% of the race but toward the end it began to dry out.

The new physics wreaked havoc on anyone that didn't have front wheel drive. My car felt totally different. I couldn't tell when the brakes were sliding and it gave no warning mid-corner before the rear end slid out. I spent half the race doing donuts and spinning my way out of sand traps. I got maybe one lap in that didn't involve ending up backwards or off the road. ...which is odd considering I raced an almost flawless race at Suzuka in the rain (until the final turn).

So yeah, new physics will take some time to adjust to. The funny part is, dry physics are pretty bland. It felt as if skid recovery was on when I practiced before the rain started.

Final results are in. That's right, WiiFreak wins again!

I blame Cujo for not placing 3rd last night! Otherwise it would have been a tie. ...but really it was my mistake at Suzuka that cost me the championship. I should have placed ahead of him and I effed it up in the last turn chatting on the Mic.

I think I did pretty well considering I was working with 10k less than him.

Yes yes, I should've easily won, however I wouldve given the victory to Diabolic since I wrecked him. I still think FF is the way to go

When it comes down to the rain and spec-2 I think you're right. This season was stacked up for the FFs to dominate. Fast tracks, more rain, and shorter length.

Only surprise to me was that GrayFox's car was so slow last night. He passed me on several occasions and I had no trouble catching back up. I think I could have passed him without the draft, which doesn't quite make sense considering he had an extra 70k invested in the car (including a 6 speed). I almost picked that car too. Should a 1.8L engine with a high rpm turbo really be slower than a 1.6L engine with a SC?

BTK
How'd it go last night?

I won.

---------------------------------------------------------------

Had I gotten 2nd last week...this could have been a lot more nerve racking a race for Chulyer. He could have ended up just a single point clear of me. Thanks Cujo!

I did spend 5K on a weight reduction for this race and then it rained and I could have used the ballast. :ouch: In the end, I pitted and took new (rain) tires and Wiifreak didnt (though I dont think he would have caught me either way)

Just a horn toot for me...in the five races we've had over three seasons on Lemans, I've never gotten worse than 2nd place. :D I know, I'm awesome!

excellent!!

thanks for a great season everyone

i achieved my goal of placing top 6 in the overall standings

if only i didn't suck so hard at nurburgring, and mess up royally at autumn ring, and lose a position to grayfox on the final lap at suzuka...well, then who knows, i might not even have won daytona or placed second at la sarthe, so...but i can still kick myself for it

i am looking forward to next season

is it officially confirmed that there will be only one night of lemons season 4, and it will take place on tuesdays?

I think so. I would rather consolidate and have a full track than end up with only 8-9 racers each night. If we get more than 16 entrants, we can just have two hosted rooms at the same time.

If you want to go ahead and register me for next season, that'd be great!

There is a Season 4 thread up if folks what to comment on next season. 👍

You beat me to it by a minute Chuy!
